Off topic obviously, but it’s legit to us gravel road rednecks. Wife has a meeting tomorrow and we were nearly 3 hours away from the Ville, so she asked me to tag along since she would have to make the trip herself. So we take 3 and a half hours to make it because of traffic. Eat at the first closet restaurant to the motel, Mexican, was good, have to cross the railroad track for 5 minute drive back to motel, and a train the length of the Mississippi keeps us from going 400 yards back to hotel. Ok, finally get back, wife decides she wants ice cream. Googles that talking bitch on her phone. She sent us right back next door to the Mexican place. Then the wife can’t figure out a way to eat the ice cream without a spoon. This takes 10 minutes to find a frogging spoon. I’m exhausted by now. So I figured I need a night cap or 2. So google liquor barn. Holy crap. Found a little side step place that sold me a pint of vodka and a cup of tomato juice for 30 bucks. I promised a Christmas card and air freshener.

Louisville is big, and hit-and-miss for food/comfort.

It helps having family there to give hints on eateries, etc.

Since you are there, check out this restaurant for Italian/pasta . . . . I love pasta!!!

For 20 bucks a plate, they will serve you enough food for two or three meals, and you can sit in the "Pope Room," or at a nice table literally in the kitchen.

Too big for this old boy. Has been for nearly 60 years. I’ll stick to squirrel and, well, whatever. But I understand people have to live there. Don’t mean to imply otherwise.

Buca is good. Spaghetti Factory good as well.

Lots of good steak options around Louisville as well.

I have a secret spot in the ‘hood if you’re brave enough. Best fried chicken and fried fish in Jefferson County!

We have a million Mexican places. El Nopal is the biggest local chain. Shelbyville seems to have a bunch as well.

I get the basic so to me they all taste about the same.

What restaurant did you end up at? Guess it was in Lyndon?

Cancun or Los Aztecas or El Nopal?

Honestly don’t remember the name. Next to a little strip mall. I guess Lyndon, I remember seeing that sign somewhere. You have no idea how far out of my element I am here. I know nothing about Louisville, and that’s a little more than I want to know. It’s still yesterday where I live.

Where are you staying in Louisville? This thread is depressing...........there are hundreds of great bars and restaurants in Louisville none of which have been mentioned in this thread. Like any major city Louisville has it warts (a lot of them unfortunately) but I love my hometown.

I don’t know man. I looked up Sally Mae’s, that place looks legit. I agree though, Louisville has a lot of good places to eat and hang out.

We went to a place called Kailen’s. It is on Newburg Road. They claim they were the first restaurant to offer cheeseburgers. The guy also told us Colonel Saunders first sold his chicken out of their restaurant. We liked it will go back. It is in a nice area.

I was part of a "redneck affirmative action program" at a large law firm in downtown in the late 80's, and actually, I really like Louisville. Spent a summer living in a dorm at a Catholic University, in a black neighborhood, working for a largely Jewish firm.
You about covered all the bases!!

Killer wings at Kailens.

In 1934 in a neighborhood community known quaintly as the Highlands a local couple named Carl and Margaret Kaelin decided to open a family restaurant. Kaelin’s Restaurant was born and over the years thrived creating countless memories for generations of Louisvillians. The restaurant became known as the “birthplace of the cheeseburger” serving the first version of this timeless classic for over 70 years. This claim to fame is argued amongst historians and the real origins are unconfirmed for the record books.

However, if you mention the name Kaelin’s Restaurant to anyone from Kentucky you will resoundingly here, “the cheeseburger place?” As this angle wasn’t enough Kaelin’s boasts another equally impressive distinction, Kentucky Fried Chicken. In its infancy KFC and specifically Harland Sanders himself cooked and sold his famous chicken within these walls. Kaelin’s will forever be the first business to serve the colonels famous recipe in the city of Louisville. This is history to each and every member of our society and needs a rebirth to retain its former glory.

Yeah, I’m a sauce nut anyways. But the food was good and waitress was nice so I left a good tip. Anyway, just got back home in the sticks. Usually a 2 and a half hour drive, took us 3 and a half coming home. Rush hour sucks, plus got behind a grain harvests caravan in Campbellesville for a few miles. Not complaining about that, they have to move from field to field and usually harvest around the clock. Good to be home this Monday afternoon.

A good woman, and I love the way she thinks!!

(She got a younger sister who would like Angus cattle on all four sides of the house?)
She does! And she already has cattle on all four sides of the house, just not angus. Also has a husband that weighs about 250.

I’m currently at Joes haha! Love the place. Usually get brisket, chili or the smoked bologna. Good place. Been coming here for years and years.
I mean it sounded good and the food smelled good when we walked in. It was just full and we were in a hurry. Kick the moose’s ass for my wife before you leave!
