Improvement of the SEC in BB when did it start?

For the past several years the SEC has been hiring really good coaches, proven coaches. Even if they had a less than desirable off the court record.
It is now paying off with the level of BB being played on the court as being extraordinary.

I'd like to give a shout out to Sankey for doing something back in 2016 to improve SEC BB. And that was hiring former Big East Comissioner Mike Tranghese. He was commissioner from 1990-2009. He was hired to use his expertise to build our BB brand and improve the product.
I think we are witnessing the fruits of his work.

Here is a list I saw of some of his accomplishments.

He also has served as chair of the NCAA Men's Basketball Subcommittee on Television and as lead administrator for the Bowl Championship Series for two seasons.
