Oweh and Butler were recruited primarily for their defensive prowess. Coming into the season there were big questions about their offensive abilities.

Now 14 games in, Oweh is our leading scorer at almost 16ppg, shooting 51% from the floor, 38% from 3, and 81% from the line. Meanwhile, Butler is our second leading scorer at nearly 14ppg, shooting 57% from the field and 41% from 3. The two players have combined for 75 assists and 42 steals against only 31 turnovers. Those are eye-popping numbers. About the only thing that still needs improvement is Butler’s FT% (currently 68%).

Pope and staff saw something in the offensive potential of both these players. We have some outstanding talent evaluators.

Our defense consist of Butler and nothing . Ok very little else . We are going to live and die with offense imo . Even butler yesterday got left out of position at times .
Works at home with a hot shooting team but can we survive ( excel ) on the road without better D ? I hope we can .

I agree with the original post. Butler and Oweh have been solid and steady defensively, as expected, but have proven to be reliable on offense, too.
