I wouldn't want to add anyone - too damn many with real logistics and scheduling issues as it is...
Love RoanokeLived in Roanoke, VA from 2014-2018, and loved it there. Agree with your sentiment here. I really like both schools campuses, facilities, etc. The UVA/VT rivalry is a fun one, even when the teams aren't that great.
They should all be in the SEC before Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Missouri. They geographically fit to the southeastern part of the country and the culture of the charter members.Clemson, FSU, NC State and VA Tech.
It looks like Louisville is the stinky kid in the back of the classroom. They got into the BIG East and not too long after, several schools left.Oh I would love this! Just when UofL got into the cool kids club, the cool kids leave and go to a better club. UofL ends up in a mid level conference again. 😆😆😆😆. Plus it's gotta be a shot to the nurts to the Dook elitists to not be included in the Magnificent 7.
As a football-first fan I actually AGREE with you. Bring in more basketball cred yo the conference! Last thing we need is another football power here.I think of everything in basketball terms because that's what I care about the most.
I would take
Duke
Florida State
To take us to 18 teams.
Totally agree on Tampa/St Pete/Clearwater being a much more potent tv market. First of all, the population growth in the Bay Area shows no signs of slowing down. Pull in surrounding Sarasota from the South, LakelandPlant City to the East and Pasco, Hernando and Citrus to the north. College sports will have a more attentive market there.First of all- the Tampa TV market is larger than the Miami TV market (Tampa is 13th in the nation, Miami is 18th).
So if TV market is what you're worried about, we should go get USF instead- but the same issue applies- neither Miami nor Tampa really care about their "hometown schools" that much.
As someone who lives in FL and goes to Miami 4 or 5 times a year- it's a solid TV market that the SEC is already in.
There are more Florida and Florida State fans in Miami than Miami fans. Honestly, because of all of the New England and Northeast transplants, there might be more fans of other schools than Miami down there as well.
They can't even come close to filling their stadium, and no one is interested in their games.
During their heyday they were just cheating better than everyone else (which has been proven).
We can have a stranglehold on the Miami (and Tampa) markets by securing both Florida and Florida State. Miami is not needed to do that.
And it may help keep marginally more talent in conference but the SEC is already cleaning up in Florida as a whole (by far the best state for HS talent in the country).
You have to take Florida State over Miami every day of the week.
Bring in Los Blue Devils!!!Can’t happen because they suck at football but I would love to have Duke. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Assuming we crawl out of irrelevance we could stomp them twice a year and just keep them down. Keep anyone from turning Scheyer into a media-made Krzyzewvski. Plus just the general glee of stomping “Duke” twice a year. Without K it obviously wouldn’t be quite like stomping the real Duke, but it would still be like dancing around on the real Duke’s grave.
And isn’t that what it’s all about?
