I'm starting to get frustrated, too.

Well, I guess I need to change my expectations for UK basketball with top ranked classes every year. What do you think a realistic expectation would be? Winning the SEC? Less than ten losses? Sweet 16? Elite 8? You guys all seem content and happy where the program is, I just want to know what makes you all so contented. And don’t say “being in contention every year”. If you can’t make a FF, you are not in contention.

Do I expect a FF every year? Of course not. One every 4 years should be realistic. And not losing at home to Evansville. That is BCG era

I am not telling you to do anything with your expectations. I am just showing facts.

Who is "you guys"? Look, I am not attacking you, I am responding with some statistics.

Didn't you also say our recruiting is down? Which way is it?

IMO a successful season is Elite 8...btw. I have shared that multiple times. As a UK fan that is my definition of successful season. FF is exceptional. Titles are the best of the best.

Recruiting down? What do you think? Experience, up or down? Anybody ever won a title after losing the whole starting lineup? I am just trying to figure out why you guys seem satisfied with the way things are going?

Everybody has an opinion on things. You have yours and I have mine. Thanks for the respectful post, you are one of the good guys on here.

"Thanks for the respectful post".

That's too funny. You've repeatedly called people that disagree with you "Cal Slurpers" and all kinds of other names and you act like you post with respect. smh

As far as winning a title with a new team, there’s a first time for everything.
I remember everyone was saying that Pitino couldn’t win a title shooting threes and pressing the whole game also but he did. It does suck losing players every year but it’s the nature of the beast.

Did people actually say this? "Everyone"? I've never heard anyone say that.
That was the most exciting brand of basketball I've ever seen. I don’t know why anyone would say Pitino had no shot of winning a title with the full court press and three point shot. Makes no sense.

I think recruiting took a hit and I attribute most of it to the FBI crap and potentially a little to Skal situation. The bottom line is we lost several guys who could have made a major difference due to rampant cheating in the game. Odd timing that the year after allegations dump on cheaters fully we are back on top of recruiting world.

I totally get the frustration- I think Cal should have 2 or maybe 3 titles, hell maybe 4. But it isn't like the guy has forgot how to coach, let up in the least or taken a nose dive in recruiting.

Also, I don't really think any of our losses in EE or FF or title are attributed to being young. I guess we just don't agree there.

2010 shot like crap (happened in 1995)
2011 veteran players contibuted
2014 lost in title game to hottest team in country (happened in 1997)
2015 lost to a damn good team and peaked too early
2016 didn't have a big to cover Bryant
2017 lost on a buzzer beater to NC and beat them in regular season
2018 just were not very good and PJ's FTs (similar to Marquette in 94)
2019 lost to hottest team in country and beat them twice in regular season

I don't think toung players sieze up in big games. I think each needs to be looked at individually for what root cause of a loss is.

Thanks for the compliment.

It’s okay to think our team, from time to time, probably won’t make the Final Four/win a title. Like did anyone really think the Noel team was going to go to the Final Four? So with that being the case a spade is a spade. Sometimes we’re just NOT a FF favorite. Next year (As it stands now) is one of those years. Sure I’ll never count Cal out but I mean...we just lost too much. Simply stating we don’t have what it takes isn’t really “hating” imo.

But you never know. Did 2014 have what it takes? After Evansville, did last years team have what it takes?
