Im not excited about another gator bowl

I remember when folks said we would never be competitive with Florida even if we beat them some years. Guess what, we're a better program than Florida rn. Maybe don't have the history but been better than them the last 5 years, but lost 2. Alabama is at the top but other than that, UK can reach any of the other levels. Georgia has not been on Alabama or even Florida's level until recently. UK can absolutely be as good a program as any of them.

I just don't get stupid posts like this. We've lost 1 game. On the road. And beat ourselves. Get a f'ing grip.
It's the OP's mo; That's all he/she ever does on Rafters, too.

Whats my mo? To up expectations.? To say we’ve been there done that now several times and it’s time for the next step? @MrHotDice is absolutely correct. To become a football school to become a UGA for instance we always have to up the ante. We need to take the next step of beating ut and uf in the same season and need to get to a ny6 bowl. Anyone satisfied with another trip to florida in order to play another middling team well it’s time to take the step to get to the ny6 bowl. If you’re satisfied with how things are it’s best to put a sock in it and let the fans who want more to do what all great programs do which is elevate expectations. I bet you were happy when we won 2-3 sec games too and went to music city bowl. Or just beating UL. Let’s be honest here what it takes to get to where many want to be. And losing a game like ole miss is some old UK juju. Quit complaining about fans with high expectations I mean you might as well not be on a message forum if you’re satisfied.

I’m 59, and have witnessed only two or three brief stretches of time where we were truly competitive.

Is the Gator Bowl or (new) Outback in Florida suddenly beneath us? I spent decades envying teams in Florida bowls when we sat at home “with the best 5 win team in the country.”

If the Gator is our fate, I’ll be there!!
No it’s not beneath us but it’s not the next step. It’s a plateau. Idk any sports fan who does want to see results improve one year to the next. I never alluded to those bowls being beneath us but I am saying there is no excitement in getting there anymore. Playing nc state again or an Iowa type team in Outback bowl is as stale as our McB stretch. It’s time for the next step in progression or we run the risk of regression:

No, not satisfied, but realistic enough to understand that as of now, UK football is much, much better as a program than it has been in decades. But I'm not gonna berate the team for going to a post-season bowl, ever. No true fan does that. Maybe you really should go roll tide.

I’m guessing this will piss you off but imo you DO seem to have the mo of never being satisfied. I was livid … for five minutes … about the Ole Miss game but I got over it and I realize we’re getting better every year. We’ll get there. Have faith.

Anything less than a sugar bowl is a dissapointment this year.

screw around and lose to scar Saturday and this season spirals outta control

I hear ya. I bought a Lotto ticket and anything less than a million dollar winner is total BS. If it’s not at least a million it’ll suck. You’ve done passed Ed and kyASSfan as the worst poster on this board. Congrats.

Then you don’t know me at all. In basketball there is ziltch to be satisfied about. In football yeah I’m satisfied. I’m not calling for heads if we don’t take a step forward. No where near so idk why I’m getting called out over being ready to take the step to ny6. I have expectations that are far greater than most.

I’ve lived through 50 years of uk sucking in fb so yeah it’s nice to be a top 25 team. That doesn’t mean I’m going to stop expecting more especially when the roster is there to do it. I’ve watched about every football game live an in person or on tv for the better part of 50 years even when we were getting 70 put on us I still pulled and expected us to score. hell my wedding day we watched UK and Louisville play up until the wedding began.

It’s the same now. I’m not gonna stop watching but the luster of gator bowl imo it’s become our new music city bowl. Even though I sit and watch and cheer even when we have gotten destroyed I’ve always expected more because the catalyst for success in every sport at every level begins with the fans expectations. When we have the team and have a guy some label as the top pick in the draft I do not expect to lose the way we did Saturday. It was a massive blown opportunity. Now we have to run the table sans UGA to get to ny6 and at the end of the day that might not be enough. The problem with cfb is how losses in the regular season early can derail seasons. It’s a massive up hill climb now to take a step forward from last season and 2019.

Look at post history. Really, just scroll through it. His/her next positive post will be their first one.
Pretty pathetic you want to go after me for trying to elevate expectations. It’s personal with some of you instead of recognizing things for what they are. Which is a program poised to take a massive step forward but blew a massive opportunity Saturday. Is positive just going with the flow happy with whatever? There isn’t a franchise or program in América successful that has fans like that. Losing isn’t a positive outcome there bud. You’re still stuck in the moral victory days.

We aren’t that far apart. It’s a blown opportunity yes. The end of hope? Not even close. Even for this year. There’s still a chance. I’m older than you, and have witnessed more shitty football than you. But we’re both the same. I just have more patience than you. I still believe we are ascending, hell, I know we are. That’s all I ask as a fan. You’re arguments belong on Rafters, and to your credit, I’ve seen them there.

Well first I’m an ole miss alumn so losing that game well there’s was much more on the line for me specifically because I talked a lot of shit to my college buddies. Ole miss is not a very good team they are vastly over rated and will get exposed. It’s really been a crappy stretch against ole miss for a long time and their program has always been mediocre at best so I expected to finally beat them.

nevertheless I haven’t given up on this season. I made a thread before we played ole miss that UT was the it game this year. That opportunity is still on the table and possible. I was just in another thread and someone was saying how 9-3 would be great, next year we ll be even better blah blah blah. Look in the last year I’ve lost aunts and uncles and a father in law who were all die hard uk fans waiting for “next year”. It’s just the beginning. I have many others who won’t be around another 2 years. We have the team now id like to see my fam who Instilled my uk fandom from a very young age to see some successes we’ve never seen.

You called me Bud. Lol. You arent elevating expectations, you love when UK loses a game. Probably made your week. I doubt you are a UK fan at all. I'm putting you on ignore . That's how I'm personally going to go after you. Saving grace of this board

Man, I’m right there with you. Been a big (sometimes too big) UK fan for over 50 years as well. You definitely have the passion but I think we can get there. Try to keep the faith … and your best comment was about basketball … no excuse for what we’ve been getting there.

Understand the family. Lost my dad in February, was a couple months from 90. My mom still alive at 90. Two aunts above 90. All , but my mom, UK football fans (she isn’t into sports). My dad was the biggest UK fan I ever knew. He will never get to see our football program succeed at the highest level, and I might not, but I still have the chance. That’s all I can hope for. And I’m damn sure holding out hope and not throwing in the towel.

Can’t believe I’m starting to sound like HH, but here goes. We are competitive in every game, or should be, from here on out. I’ve never felt we were before, period. Will we drop one or two more? Probably, at least one. That’s still a damn good season. For anyone in the SEC not named Bama or Georgia. Can’t we just enjoy the process without trying to rush it? I don’t know, maybe I’m thinking bassakwards. But I’m still super excited with where the program is compared to where it was 5 years ago. It’s still trending upward, slowly, but upward. When it’s down trending, I’ll worry.
Our fans don’t know how to have a good football team. They are in uncharted territory. Give them a little football success and they immediately apply the entitlement that they have with our basketball program. It doesn’t work that way.

Gotta get recruits. You have to get a good QB with high iq. This is the SEC you want big time you got to have a star qb and good recruits.
Not true. You think Stetson Bennett is a star?

by the way if you will open your eyes you might see that the qb we have now is 14-4 since getting here. He is a generational talent at UK. You’re either a troll or a detached crybaby. Either way you are unreasonable

That’s how he posts. Nothing short of an undefeated, unscored upon NC team would make him happy. He’d still find something to complain about.

I was reacting to the article. But since you mention it yeah salvage. Do expect our oline and secondary to be fixed along with our kicking game? There are too many deficiencies to overcome in order to make the sec title game. I think we have a better shot than most give us credit to beat UT but UT is surging.
B.S. You're either a spoiled crybaby, or a troll. My vote is troll. Don5bother replying. Going on ignore in 3... 2...

We're going to lose 3 more, so you won't have to worry about a Gator bowl
Why are some of you so negative ?We ‘may’ lose 3 more and we very well may NOT. Hell, we could lose more than 3 but we’re as good or better and deeper than we’ve ever been. Some of you people must live miserable lives. Just pull for your damn team and see how we come out. Geez.

I can remember when a bowl game, any bowl game was a reward for the hard work put in by the players and staff and one last chance for the fans to get together.
I guess with players opting out of lesser bowl games, it’s a natural progression for some fans to want to do so also.

It's a slow climb when you have Kentucky's resources and play in the SEC. You can't allow yourself to become spoiled like Louisville fans did. They went from crushing us, winning Orange and Sugar Bowls, putting 60+ on FSU when FSU was top 5, and having a Heisman winner to...what they are now.

We have a pretty damn good team, but we were overrated at 7. The issues were there and we all knew Florida wasn't that great, but we bought into the media coverage because we're fans and it's been fun. Saturday was a lost opportunity but there's plenty of chances left to make noise. Finish this season strong, have a great showing in whatever bowl we get, Levis goes high in the draft, and this program should continue to slowly rise. If that happens, we'll begin to see UK start seasons in the top 15.

No but when your inside the 20 twice in a row I expect at least a fg. That win would have put us in the driver set for a 10-2 and sugar bowl. Bama fans not happy if they lose a game. The good programs fans are mad after a bad loss. I now know our fans are part of the problem. Easy to please. Our qb is below average our defense and running game get us places.

Maybe we should just go ahead and fire Stoops

it all falls on the HC

he’s only the winningest Coach in UK history. Been here 10 yrs and still hasn’t won’t 4 Nattys

clean house. NOW!!

I know that would make some on here happy.

I def do not understand it, but they would be happy

Let try to unpack all the bullshit you just posted

-in order to be in the “driver seat” for 10-2 we are assuming a loss to Georgia and either tenn or ole miss. That’s still alive. Stop being a chicken shit, we can beat Tennessee. Hell after watching Georgia get kicked around by Missouri we can beat them too.

-you just measured us against Alabama. Stop being stupid

- we are all mad after this loss. Stop acting like no one cares. But some of us can still cope

- our “below average qb” is 14-4 here and will be a top 10 pic. There’s no way you’re this dumb

- our running game has sucked balls so far. Levis got us here.

-The Defense is stout. That may be the only smart thing you’ve said.

You ain’t fooling anyone. You’re a troll. The only mystery is what school you really root for. I’m thinking Tennessee.

QB below average? Not even close. Do you ever watch football? Check out a NFL draft board buddy

I turned 65 this year and the idea of a bowl being beneath Kentucky is infathomable.
It's a reward to the players.
Yeah, yeah, yeah....too many bowls.
Whatever. It's a chance to enjoy football.
Anyone not wanting their ticket give me a yell.

This. Would another gator bowl be bitter sweet knowing what could have been? Ya. But it will still be better than what I experienced most of my life as a UK football fan.

Also I think people are underselling next season. I think we have our picks of RB and QB in the portal and have an opportunity for something huge

While I'd prefer the Sugar, I'd take the Gator in a heartbeat.

To those who think the minor bowls are "meaningless" watch the reaction of the players who win those games and tell them they don't mean anything.

I was at the Citrus bowl last year and had a blast!! Great td pass to beat a good Iowa team by this awful qb people are talking about. I would be willing to say they have never been to one of these bowls.

Seasons since 1978. I was willing to sign a lifetime contract with the Music City after Rich got us there. Let’s not get entitled. Still building.
