Yeah we're a tournament team. Just not a contender. All Cal needs is another Anthony Davis and MKG and talented upper classmen and a shooter to win the tournament. There are lots of AD's out there. Shouldn't be a problem
Yes but it's hard to picture us going very far because I would expect a pretty low seed.We would need Gabriel/SKJ to make huge leaps which is very possible.Richards is still very raw and hopefully all our recruits would love up to their hype.Johnson would become a must get.
I'm sure Calipari doesn't have a plan. He should consult with members of this board though. They are all much more knowledgeable about coaching and come up with much better plans than Cal.
I don't know how anyone can even begin to answer this question when we've not yet see any of the guys (other than Gabriel) who'll be logging serious PT next year.

1. Never let the Diallo situation happen again.. But i doubt that ever comes up again to begin with.
2. Change the recruiting pitch a bit. Combat this notion that a recruit can go anywhere. Stress the importance of UK and his ties, how winning and the tournament matters.

Why the mockery? It's a completely legitimate question. We'd be, on paper, less talented than the 2014 team which was similarly inexperienced, and that team was a 10-loss 8 seed. I wouldn't bet on us missing the tournament, and maybe this team gels quicker and is a solid top-25 team, but I think it's certainly legitimate to speculate on it.

It wont be good. Bamba seems way more important. We have no proven interior player. SKJ may be that guy but the fact that he couldn't even get a minute of playing time is not promising as where we can simply count on him. Richards, if you take off your blue glasses, sure looks like a project on offense and needs tons of work on his rebounding and hands. Wood chopper is not the biggest guy either and even got a few minutes over SKJ but not much.

What if every single player and coach quit the day before the season were to begin...how would you feel about the roster?
Richards can handle the 5 spot if Bamba doesn't come. And don't sleep on SKJ he has something to prove.
You people need to watch our recruits. If we were to lose both we will still have we will have a four five stars starting and Johnson a jr who put up double figures in the ACC and shot over 40 percent from 3. Green a playmaker who is considered the best pass first pg in the class. Alexander who has been moved up to five star status after the world saw him hold his own against team USA at the hoop summit dominate the Louisville Recruits at the Derby classic and prove that he is now a pretty good three point shooter. Baker who was underanked because he was 6ft tall when he signed the middle of his jr year at cal and has grown to 6ft4 and held his own playing pg vs duval in AAU. Plus by all accounts the best three point shooter in the class. Vanderbilt former number one player in the country who slid in the rankings because of an injury and a broken shot probably hampered by the injury who now at all three practices McDonald's game Hoop summit and Jordan brand has fixed his shot making him once again the player who was ranked so high don't take my word for it go check out the mock drafts who have him going 7 to 10 a lottery pick oh and btw he handles and passes like a pg and defends like MKG at 6ft9 pretty sure he is better by alot than young was. Washington another very versatile forward who many say is the best rebounder in the class with a 38 percent three point shot. Richards a 7ft center who has more than held is own and is a really solid rim protector with a 7ft4 wingspan and the best standing vertical of the bigs at the hoop summit. Oh he is also 250 with a Magloire like attitude. And on paper they are not less talented than 14 because they are deeper. And with Johnson shoots way better across the board and oh yeah didn't 14 make it to the title game and could have won despite WCS going down with an injury. During the second round of the NCAA tourney? So yes please let's have another season like that

Derrick Willis is quoted at KSR that SKJ has the most potential of the returning players! Nick Richards will work with coach Payne and learn to rebound better and I think we have great potential to be a very good transition team. Ready to tip it off!
Don't know about OP but I'll be ecstatic. Potential to pull together a 2014 like run (I do expect struggles with so many freshmen, but that would be SO much talent),likely with several talented guys returning for a second year to set up a potential 2015 type super team. Not saying we make a 40-0 type run (I never want to hear any talk of that again unless we're undefeated halfway through conference), but we'd be looking gold for the next couple years.

Well all I know you just called a guy I have seen on here for years a troll. You I don't know. Plus if you see a team with 7 five star players and a grad transfer double digit scorer a team that will struggle to make the tourney. Well let's just stay I would rather be thought of as a troll then to be thought of as just not very knowledgeable. Here is an opportunity. Go down the roster and point out the weaknesses
Alabama, Texas A&M and Florida will be better than UK next year in the SEC if Cal misses on Bamba and Knox.

Last year we had 5 Mickey D's. I'd say ONE exceeded expectations, one met expectations, one almost met expectations, one was way below expectations and the other didn't scratch. We have some excellent guys coming in but to think that all or even half will live up to their potential right out of the box is just BWT. Without Bamba and Diallo ( who also fit into that unknown production bucket) UK will struggle in many games. Miss the tourney?? Probably not but certainly a possibility .. we won't even discuss what an injury to say a Richards would do.
