If UL lands Nate Ament…it’s time to worry

Hate to tell you but….I believe U6 is going to be really good in the near future.
Yea I don't understand how UofL would have a large amount of NIL at all..unless they have some billionaire ceo alumni we aren't aware of. It kind of just takes one, like tyson chicken/ walmart down in arkansas.
Me too. UL knows how to pay and cheat but not like Duke. They are the Kings.
UL almost bankrupted the school to compete in sports. At one time they had millions in the school foundation and they raided it for the sports teams. It’s all gone. Their Administration is win at all costs. We will pay the bills later. Mitch and Eli are anything but that. Word is they take more for the school from football funds than any SEC foe.
The two schools objectives are completely different.
I want to win , but the university is there to educate youth. Not win basketball games.
UL administration has forgotten that.
Duke lives up to their founder's namesake every day. A slimy, monopoly loving greedy prick.

Why is it if a kid chooses UL, it is all about the $$, but if a kid chooses us, it is all about Kentucky. We can't have it both ways. If a kid is after the $$ and he chooses UK, we drapped a bag just like any other school. Some kids could care less about KY basketball regardless of the $$. Some kids will chose KY and the $$ will have zero to do with their decision. We will never win them all and we will not lose them all bcause someone else paid more $$. We are not the only place a kid can go and be successful. It has been 13 years since we would have been the most successful place for a basketball recruit. Since 2012, we have not been the best destination for a recruit. All this said, does not in any way suggest that a kid would not be very lucky to play basketball at Kentucky, it means we are not the only right option for kids to play their college basketball. We as fans, need to realize if Ament choses a school other tha us, we will be fine and he may have a wonderful one and done season. Most likely, wherever he choses to play, he will not raise a championship trophy next March. This is call RECRUITING in a dysfunctional NIL recruiting world.
WE Western Kentuckians have no love for the name Duke. Long before there was ever a Laettner or even CBB.
I used to dislike UL so much that I had bad days over them. Jurich, Pitino, Ramsey, Petrino, etc. I really couldn’t care less about them now. The city is terrible, their athletic dept is awful … I could go on. Kelsey seems to be a good guy and a good coach but if a kid chooses UL over UK (and many others) then he’s just making a bad choice imo. Now when it comes to money and NIL I don’t know enough to even debate it. GBB.
If Kelsey doesn’t have a contract extension in place in five weeks I’m not sure he will be at Louisville next year. If Cincinnati fires Wes Miller then Pat Kelsey will be their first call. That’s his hometown. And he will listen if he’s not already locked up.
It hasn’t been about the name on the front of the jersey since the 70’s and maybe to in state kids. It’s always been about the money legal or otherwise
You may want to let our coaching staff know about a mic drop up in New York. Because pope is working his ass off to land Ament. Just like he did with Wilson. Everyone wants to claim pulling top ranked freshman don’t matter. But want to ignore the fact that pope himself doesn’t agree with them.BOOM goes the dynamite !

absolutely killer stuff there, MdWildcat... killer comment. I'd like to second that for every "old timer" "blue hair" and any other halfway "old" fan around here. I seen a lot of comments, but yeah. Spot on, brother. (and the Pitino comment ... that is the WISEST thing I've heard come from a coach's mouth for perspective on the game nowadays.

Do we trust pope or not?
As much as I thought their recruiting would dip after Krybabyshitski retired, it hasn't. It appears they are going to continue to get the top class every year, or pretty near that. Pope was at BYU, which isn't exactly the easiest place to recruit to, so I would imagine Pope doesn't have close ties to any of the junior class. Maybe I am wrong.
But if he struggles to recruit to UK, that's going to be a problem. He did as well as could be expected with the portal given the circumstances, but we didn't get any of the major guys, unless you count Brea, and while his shooting is really good for the most part, he hasn't established himself as much else IMO.
I've been as big on Pope as anyone, but he does have to prove he can recruit at least some of the top players. We have a good class so far, but we need bigs bad. I hope Robinson stays and keeps getting better, but I don't know if I see him as a force to be reckoned with down the road. Who knows though.

Johnson scored 9 of the 32 at the free throw line. It took him a whopping 26 shots to get the other 23. Not sure that is worthy of the "on our heads" taunt. In any event, UK had that game won but with no experienced floor general they blew it at the end. With Lamont Butler, they win it going away and Tre Johnson is likely the next in a long line of ballyhooed burger boys who fail to make the NCAA tournament in their single college season.
No need to knock Tre Johnson—it’s pointless. If he had passed up those shots to his Texas teammates, they probably would've lost already. In other words, Johnson had to take a lot of tough, star-player shots and absorb a ton of possessions just to keep them in it. If those shots went to his teammates instead, Texas might’ve ended up scoring 10 fewer points. His talent is undeniable. Put him in a better system—like under Pope—and with better teammates, he could be an efficient scorer while also handling those tough shots that other guys on UK wouldn’t even be able to create.
I would be very happy to have this level of freshman in our roster.
