If Tuesday wasn't crappy enough for us, Big Cliff eliminates UK.

Well, Tuesday just sucked all around. Not really shocked myself, but Cliff eliminated UK Tuesday night out of the blue. He's down to ARZ ST, Rutgers, and AUB. I never felt like he was that into UK even though he had a big reaction when he got the offer. He never seemed to try to get onto campus to even check it out or hear our pitch. Not sure if we kept him on the back burner or what, but it's not like he's making his decision right now so not sure why he cut us. I guess he just wasn't into it. I just wonder if Whitney leaving had anything to do with his decision. Oh well, on to the next one.

To make matters worse OK had 2 FTs to ice Texas and missed them both with like 5-6 secs left and Texas hit a desperation 3 at the buzzer to win by 1. A month ago it looked like Smart might be out of a job after another NIT trip, but now they are positioned to make the Tourney. I don't think they will do anything in it, but it might be enough to keep his job and with the relationship, the Brown's have with him that could be enough to take Greg Brown off the table too.

I wish Paolo was into a possible reclass. Who knows maybe he is. They always say they aren't. I sure do hope we get a quality big to go with all that talent next year so it's not wasted. It's starting to look more and more like a Grad Transfer might be our best bet. Of course, there are still some guys that might reclass, I just hope we get one.

Tried to tell you his this. Kentucky never recruited him very hard. Should have told you where Kentucky was when he never even took a visit here. Ca has other things currently happening. Should be a nice finish no matter which of the 2 ways it shakes out to be.

You didn't have to tell me LOL, I didn't think he was coming here for a long time now. Too much love for ARZ ST and even Rutgers. Like I said a month or so ago when he was going to these other places and talking about going for another visit to some of them I knew we were out since he hadn't even tried to set up a visit here. Kind of figured Cal was keeping him on the back burner I just hope it doesn't bite us in the ass.

Unfortunately Cal won't take a guy that might be an expected 2 or 3 year project as a priority (gotta be ready to produce early on it seems). So they are put on the back burner as a 3rd, 4th, or 5th choice. They of course don't like the idea that they are only a fallback plan. The other schools treat them as a priority from the start and we lose them before we knew we would even need them. So we're stuck hunting for a late grad transfer just to have enough warm bodies to be able to put on the floor.

wait...………..you started a thread yesterday saying that this same kid called UK about coming
what happened to have UK dropped?

Somebody literally claimed in here before the game that we were going to get him..

classic!
That’s actually not at all what I claimed. I said he called the coaching staff, I never said anything else. Too be frank we eliminated him yesterday which is why he cut us from his list.

I've gotta say, now that he's officially not coming here, YES!!!!! I've seen him play maybe 6-7 times. He looked awful. His size is really all he's got. He may develop faster than I'm thinking, who knows. I hope he does. But right now, he's not good.

How can this be? A poster just told us that he got some real good info that he had contacted the staff and that he was seriously interested in UK.
You know who you are....[eyeroll]

Actually, you were acting as if it was coming into shape for him and UK.

You were implying really hard. Don't act as if you weren't.

Go back and read every post I had in that thread. No where did I imply I knew what was said in the conversation. I was wishfully hoping it gave us a chance with him which before I thought we didn’t have. Later I found out he was the 4th option and posted that in the thread as well. A few hours later he cut us. Re read it and you’ll see.

Take this with a grain of salt but I’ve heard from someone close to the program that Cliff Omoruyi reached out to the UK staff today. Supposedly things may be getting rocky at ASU very soon and he is reevaluating where he wants to play next year. I sure hope this is credible , would be a big pickup for us to add another big for next year. I don’t typically share hearsay but the person who told me this has never steered me wrong in the past. That being said let’s go stomp the Vols tonight!

Far from it, but if he did indeed reach out as I was told that has to be big for us. Considering he was all but wrote off to ASU. We shall see if more buzz picks up.

What I was told is he had planned to commit this month to ASU. Over the weekend he heard from several people ASU is possibly about to get hit by the NCAA and now he is reevaluating where he wants to go. He reached up because he wants to talk to the staff more about the possibility of coming here etc. Recruits are in contact with schools a lot, it’s the reason for reaching out that I found interesting. Makes me feel like we have a much better shot with him than most think.

Yea, I had all but chalked him up to an ASU commit. We will see if anything comes from it.

Agreed, from my understanding he is the 4th option for us next year. So not a priority at this point, but who knows what happens if we miss on the others.

In that phone conversation yesterday he was told he was 4th option and if we strike out he had an offer. This is why he cut us last night. I was simply hoping since he talked to coaching staff that we might be in the running. People believe what they want, I was right about the conversation and I’ll continue to believe the person who told me about it. He still has never steered me wrong. It’s no coincidence we were cut yesterday, it was the result of that phone call.

don't say much for cals evaluating skills if he thought ej and nick was ready day one

I think what you're saying makes alot of sense. I assume the 3 ahead of him are Brown Banchero and maybe Cisse?

of the 3 you listed, isn't Cisee the only center & Banchero has said he is not leaving high school early

I'm not going back to read the whole thread. If you say you didn't, then so be it.

I'm pretty sure neither was our first choice. I think EJ might have happened after all the forwards ended up at Duke. Richards was also down the list after Bagley, Ayton, and Bamba. I could be remembering wrong but I believe both were like our 4th of 5th choices.

EJ backed out from Auburn
Richards signed early, so I don't think he was a 4th or 5th choice. think Cal thought he had Bamba & Richards was going to give him rest
