And then we fly out there and beat them as they are currently #3 in the Nation, would you be willing to concede at that juncture that the Cats are the best team in America?

BETTER KNOW IT! This team has it ALL...Elite & Exciting Offense...Impressive Defense...Most Experience in CBB..Admirable Toughness, Discipline & Fight...Excellent Chemistry...Extremely Unselfish and move the ball beautifully...As much Depth as any team in CBB (have 2 of everything)...More than a handful of players that could be leading scorer on any given night...Everyone understands the assignment...Last but not least, Cats have one helluva Coach and Staff! CBB is already on notice, but if we run the table through the Zags, we'll be the odds on favorite to cut the nets down on April 5 at the Alamodome!

The ONLY weakness I see on this team so far is an elite shot blocking big man. The bigs are solid.... but not elite rim protectors.

Sam I agree with this to an extent. You are right no Bowie or Davis or Noel underneath but Williams and Garrison are both 6’10 plus and have already shown good timing and anticipation with shot blocking. I believe they are all this team will need to win it all.

If UK beats Gonzaga at Gonzaga to go 9-0 with wins over #6 Duke on a neutral court & a win over #3 Gonzaga on their home court, then YES ABSOLUTELY YES Kentucky is the best team in college basketball. A team could lose to Gonzaga at Gonzaga and still be the best team in the nation.

I'd certainly like to think so. Looking at the ones above us, you have

1) Kansas
2) UConn
3) Gonzaga
4) Auburn
5) Iowa State
6) Purdue
7) Houston
8) Alabama

I've already been critical of Alabama, so they're out. Houston lost to Auburn and I think we could beat them. Purdue just lost to Marquette by 18, so hell no to them. Iowa State has looked good, but they play Auburn on Monday, so we'll see how that pans out for both teams. Auburn (as I just pointed out) plays Iowa State around the corner and then play @Duke a few days before our matchup with Gonzaga, so we'll know where they stand before our game. In this hypothetical, we're already assuming we beat Gonzaga, so I don't need to dive into them. UConn has obliterated everyone, and won't play anyone of substance until #13 Baylor on Dec 4th. Hard to gather anything from that. And finally Kansas plays Duke on Tuesday and #14 Creighton on Dec 4th.

If we run the table, I think some other teams have to drop a game for us to definitively claim #1. If Kansas runs the table with a resume of UNC, Duke, and Creighton, I have no issue with them still sitting at 1. If Auburn runs the table with a resume of Houston, Iowa State, and @Duke, then I really don't have an issue placing them 1. I'm critical of UConn schedule regardless of the results, so I have no issue jumping them. Same with Iowa State. If they run the table, they'll have two big wins against Auburn and Marquette, but that resume doesn't stack against ours's in this scenario. Kansas and Auburn are the only two contenders I feel have an argument to remain or take the 1 spot if they run the table as well

Going undefeated in the OOC portion of our schedule would look to put us on track to be number one at that point.

However ...

Auburn has already won @Houston. With games @dUKe, @Iowa State, against Purdue, @Ohio State as well.... If they were to run the table as well ....

I'd have to begrudgingly give Auburn the nod as #1. Kentucky would undoubtedly be #2, but you never know how voters will actually vote, and running an undefeated Kansas team off the top slot at that point, one could make a case that we possibly would be only up to #3 ....

But that's why they play the games. As a fan, it's fun to play around with and think about.

So, in short, depending on what else happens, it's not a given Kentucky would be the number one team in all the land.

Just my two cents worth!

Zaga will be considered a neutral court game, it’s in Seattle. But yeah, win that game and UK will be viewed as one of the top teams.

Aww shucks

I'm just an old blue blood cat. But one that still has PLENTY of life left. There's plenty of us old basketball Bennie farts out here still, just every now and then we have to pull HH back down to earth, though. It's a seasonal thing here in the Rafters. I've grown fondly accustomed to it, considering the years past of strife and turmoil here, we're all still going nicely!

And thanks, HH. You were the ONLY one I could get to agree with your 40-0, this year. I was proud to stand beside you! 😎💪

We all love you!

Keep gettin' em' Big Cat!

Love the revitalized feel and rejuvenated mojo to a winning heart, Kentucky.

Go Big Blue !

I kinda want us to be the underdogs as long as we can (without losing). Although if we were undefeated after the Gonzaga game, you gotta think we would be top 3-4 after that.

And this team, or no team is going to go 40-0. Actually Gonzaga would have the best chance as they rarely play anyone after December. But then that seems to have the negative effect on them in March, them not being tested for 2 months.
I can't see ANY SEC or B12 team going undefeated in conference play alone.

I don't want us to be so pompous, just be happy that things have changed and we are winning games.

And being #1 is not always the best, more teams want to upset you that way.

Offensive rebounding and post play.

Right now, when the shot goes up, our guys watch the ball fly through the air instead of racing to put a body on a body. Pope will get that cleaned up, hopefully soon.

Also, Amari really has no post moves, he dances around a little, then flips it up hoping it goes in. If the coaching staff can get him to be a true post scorer, look the hell out.

I predicted that we lose 2 games before the conference slate begins. My thought was Duke and Gonzaga. I am going to stick with my prediction of 2 losses but I am not sure where that second one comes. Maybe Clemson on the road, or OSU. Either way, when the season started, I was excited about the possibility of only losing 2 in the pre-conference schedule. If we go into conference undefeated, someone will have to talk me down from thinking final four pick!
