Miami & Louisville
It has been non stop today on radio and every where else here in Louisville. About what we should do with the kids. Most of the said kick them off the team. Now this is the same media that says nothing about the conduct of their basketball and football coaches. Nothing about when any of their players get in trouble. But let some UK kids get in trouble and they are all over it trying to help us and how much they really care about us. You know TJ and BP said for them to say all this after all UL needs a QB and if they can talk UK into kicking them off the team you know BP will off Barker a starting position at QB at UL like he does all the other kids that get kicked of of schools. Just shut up UL let UK handle this and no UK does not need your advise

This situation is just another example of the utter/absolute hypocrisy of the Louisville media. They are a complete laughing stock to any real journalists and even make the biased journalists look tame. It's sad, pathetic and infuriating all at once It's one of the things I hate the most about this damned city but as long as Jurich runs everything it will never change. It really is sickening.

Our guys got into a fight with another dude.

UL players and recruits hit women.

Louisville media can't seem to make a distinction.

Didn't a cheerleader get killed in a football dorm and all of the local media too scared to report it?

Yep. Thought so.

In the bedroom of their drug dealing player who's 1st arrest wasn't reported by said media.

That's like Charles Manson badmouthing a pick pocket.

Ironic that the media of 2nd chance, 3rd chance, 4th chance or in the case of Willie Williams 12th chance U want to express an opinion. Ignore them. They're scum and they're coaches are scum. They want UK to hold 19 year olds to higher standards than they hold their 60 year old coaches.

I remember when Hartline was arrested there was a camera crew waiting for him outside the jail when he was released an hour later in the wee morning hours. The difference in how the two schools are covered is staggering. The "professionals" in Louisville should be ashamed.

Didn't they recently just have a player go into a bar, try to just take a drink without paying, get physical with the owner, get kicked out, then sneak back in only to get into another altercation and end up assaulting a police officer while resisting arrest? Or did I just imagine that? Crazy that got little play on the afternoon shows..

I listen to sports radio daily and they never even mentioned it. Add to the fact the are the leader for the TCU dude who busted out his girls windown and bitched slapped her.

Only time Louisville media reports on negative stories about UL/its players/coaches is when the story gets out to the public and they have no choice but to mention it. Even then they brush over it as quickly as possible. It really is pathetic.

It is sad on one hand that the Louisville media all jump in their stories and opinions on stories such as these involving UK only to ignore or very late report issues at UofL. In the end, I am not sure it would make much of a difference. Living in Louisville amongst UofL fans I can say that even if the media reported on things like this involving UofL players, I don't feel like UofL fans would get it anyway. Quite honestly, they just don't care enough to follow the program that closely. Having numerous UofL friends and family members I find myself constantly amazed at how little attention they seem to pay to what is going on in sports and within their own team. I find that most of their fans aren't really what you would consider a fan of a team. It's more of a social thing. I just had a UofL fan admit to me a couple of weeks ago that they don't watch unless they are playing UK or it's the NCAA tournament. A lot of UofL fans that I have come across are like this. They only take pride in the result and seemingly have no idea how they got there. Now that's not all UofL fans but most that I know are like that.

Yea, how, at least we didn't give drugs to a cheerleader, causing her overdose and eventual death. Where was that report (redacted)?

Listened to Drew Deener's show occasionally. Jared Stillman is probably less of a UofL homer than a lot of the UofL media (UofL fans actually bash him because they expect absolute loyalty and zero criticism whatsoever) yet these are some things I've heard him say recently:

Stillman after UK kills Kansas: This season is on Cal. If they don't win it all this season, it's on Cal. (translation: he frames the story in a way where Cal gets all the blame if they don't win it all and none of the credit if they do. He gets no credit for recruiting the players, no credit for developing, etc.).

Stillman after Duke soundly beats UofL: It's like a great car mechanic. Rick (UofL media always call all persons affiliated with UofL by their first name, i.e., Rick, Bobby, Tom, Charlie, Teddy, etc. because they're all so friendly) is like a great car mechanic. We know he can fix the problem but does he have the tools to do it. (translation: "Rick" gets all the credit if UofL has a good year the rest of the way but he gets none of the blame if they don't. It's all on the players. There was no mention whatsoever that Rick recruited or developed his "tools", i.e., Wayne Blackshear, the big men, etc.)

Stillman the day before this December's UofL/UK game: I actually felt so sorry for Rick in last year's tournament game. He coached his butt off for 39 minutes and Cal comes in, gets lucky and wins it in the final minute. [translation: Cal just gets lucky when he beats Rick. 1-7 is just luck. Rick out coached him for 39 minutes (notwithstanding Cal's adjustments or Pitino foolishly leaving Harrell in to get his 3rd foul right before halftime) and Cal just got lucky, again.]

I listen because Jared is classic....he says some of the most ignorant statements I've ever heard. He is young and he's just got a lot of growing up to do. It makes me laugh because he is so sure of himself. I'm not sure if they save the shows, but if he goes back and listens to it in about 20 years he will be very embarrassed.

When Payton Manning went back to Indy as a Bronco, the next morning, Drew was talking about how nice it was, how the fans were great, how Manning was classy, etc. and Jared asked, "did Manning actually say thank you or was he just mouthing it?" WTF?!??!??! Even Drew was like "what?!??!" That doesn't even make sense.

You are correct, he doesn't give Cal credit. One day saying that he doesn't even give Cal credit for recruiting the team. I forget how he actually was phrasing it, but it was hilarious.

They both talk about Cal like he's the prettiest girl in the school and they can't get a date with her. -- Yeah, she's pretty BUT, she's got a zit on her forehead. She's stuck up. Yada, yada, yada,.....it just makes me laugh.

They cover themselves by saying Cal is good every once in awhile but then try to tear the team down and say if he doesn't win it all then it's all on him. Then two weeks later state, "if you get to the Sweet 16, then you had a successful season" but of course they were talking about Rick. Their hypocrisy is classic.

They both are really immature, I listen to get a laugh out of it.

I think the biggest example of this homerism is the UL kid attacking a cop last week gets buried on page five, and a fight at a bar gets mainstream coverage. Prime example of the noise produced by homers pulling for lil bro

Don't get your panties in a wad over this situation. Save comments if they get kicked off UK's team and transfer to UofL, then you can make all the fun you want.

THe problem with Louisville media is that they have no aspirations aside from being comfortable in Louisville. They love the city, become fans of UofL, and don't want to rock the boat.

When Rick Pitino claims South Vermont university's two senior guards are the best backcourt they'll face all year, the media will be saying the rest of the year that the team "Beat one of the best backcourts in the nation when they defeated South Vermont." They just don't question anything any more. They take whatever the party line is from the university and report it as fact. If Pitino says Montrezl removed himself from captain (despite it happening shortly after being kicked out of a game for throwing a punch), they just regurgitate it as fact.

You don't see that with Lexington Media, pro sports media, and most other serious media, to be honest. You see it with small-town, po-dunk newspapers with limited professionalism.

Maybe they're afraid of being frozen out of the "insiders' club" at UofL. I can't say. I think a lot of it is complacency. They get comfy in Louisville and become "fans" of the program and forget about investigative journalism. They become too close with Jurich, Pitino, Petrino, etc, rather than keeping it professional. They don't want to rock that boat, because it's what allows them to be so comfy in their lifestyle. Sometimes they even leave journalism to become program cheerleaders (ex: Jody Demling's new gig running a UofL fan site).

I don't think it's a conscious decision to report differently, it's just complacency and proximity. They become comfy with UofL, and start thinking of the coaches as friends and the players as "kids" rather than "athletes." They overly humanize them because they've got an emotional connection to them. They don't have that connection with UK. So calipari and Stoops remain "coaches" and the players are "Athletes-" they're not friends and kids to them.

It's a real problem in Louisville.

The bar fight was on the front page of ESPN.com. They have cheerleaders dying at the hands of their pill pushing football players and cops getting punched and it doesn't register as a blip on the national radar. When Charlie was there a fight broke out in the locker room where 2 brothers jumped a teammate so bad that that he nearly lost an eye or his eye sight one of the two. His face was broken so badly he was told by the doctor to give up football and Charlie tried to yank his scholarship until the player started talking to media about the incident. He was eventually given a scholarship by the university to shut him up. Almost no one even knew that it happened I saw it reported once and it wasn't a local paper or a national outlet that did.

The truth is that their program doesn't move the needle. If they are written about no one cares including many of their own fans. It's why they get no respect nationally. If they were don't you think they would've hosted a Gameday in football or basketball in the past 4-5 years? I'm pretty sure our football program has hosted a Gameday more recently than theirs. Our football team may have even hosted one more recently than their basketball team. If they mattered they wouldn't have to watch half of their games on their computer

Their fans and media are the biggest hypocrites in college athletics. They are all outraged over a Barfight?? The Thursday night game v FSU last season featured no less than FIVE fights/brawls INSIDE and outside their stadium as reported by eye witnesses on their Scout board. Their fans and players make them Thug U and their media is complicit.

I think it was that incident that actually happened 2-3 months ago but no local news media said a word about it until recently.

You're right, he got upset that the food and drinks wasn't free for ul football players.
