I think our fans are too focused on the recruits and not the team

Every now and then I hit "show ignored content" to see what he wrote and it's the same clueless garbage as the last time. He would seriously be happier if we were wallowing in the mediocrity of the Tubby days. He has no idea how to fix this imaginary problem he sees. He just wants to bitch incessantly to everyone about it.

I always find his comments to be hilarious. Someone trying so hard to get attention and miss guided to that extent. It's amazing really.

Wait. Are you guys talking about the class that went 38-1?? Or the team before that of which played for the national championship?? Both being slightly hampered by critical injuries.

Either way, not the best example for the "recruits don't mean anything" crowd.

Actually yes, both of those teams. The teams that didn't win the title.

He comment is hilarious. So many time he try to make he point but because English is he secondly languages his struggles to makes good points.

Bingo. Doesn't mean anything.

Weren't you the one on here a few months ago crying about how Duke had surged past UK in recruiting, and that Duke was going to have the best class ever next year? Fast forward to today, and now next year's class doesn't mean anything. Oh that's right, because it doesn't fit your agenda. Cal swooped in, went on a recruiting spree, and now HE (not Duke) will have the best class next year. You're comical.

Yeah you're right. They threw the Wisconsin game on purpose because they wanted to lose.

Seriously dude. You're WAY overthinking this. He didn't say his goal was to NOT WIN the championship. When the season started he looked at his team and said "I'm gonna make it a goal to get 8 guys drafted." Was that a goal to win the national championship? Nope. Does that mean he didn't want to? Hell no.

If he says "my goal is to get Lee and Poythress to play with intensity" is that goal to win the national championship? Nope. Or "my goal is to improve our pick and roll" that's not a goal to win the championship either.

He could have said "I set a goal to eat fewer than 2000 calories a day." Would you be mad that his goal was not to win a championship?

Seriously dude I had rather you not try to put words in my mouth. I did not say anything about the Wisconsin game. You are trying to spin what I did say though.

The point I was trying to make is that you seem to think you have to explain what Cal said. I know what he said, which was "Our goal was to send 8 players to the NBA draft, not winning championships". So why did he say not winning championships?

I took that to mean that sending 8 players to NBA draft was more important
than winning championships. Evidently you don't see it that way.

On second thought it may be good thing for us to have someone to explain what he meant to say. For example "It was the greatest day in Kentucky Basketball history for 5 players to be drafted in NBA" Did he mean that was more important than winning championship?.

Anyway I feel much better knowing we now have someone to tell us what he said.

Based on the talent he's had, im sure UL fans would be pleased with that. I mean if he had been getting the talent that Cal has gotten and still only one title in 13 years, then I could see UL fans upset with just the one title. Hmmm

Wow. You just removed all doubt from anyone's mind about your status as a UL troll. That exact mantra, in fact, is what morons like Zipp & Cue Card spew constantly over on the Tard board. Never once mentioning the undisputed fact that in Ricky 3 Stacks illustrious career he has only won 2 championships. He has had a ton of highly touted recruits in his career and only has 2 championships. Up until 2013, his one championship at UK was with arguably the most talented team ever assembled. Also, doubly advantageous for Slick Rick was the fact that most of his career was before the one-and-done era. So, he had guys like Walker, Anderson, Mercer for at least 2 years. Imagine if Cal could have had Anthony Davis and MKG for 2 years.

You can rationalize all you want in order to try and minimize Cal's accomplishments at UK. I have seen your bar graphs on the relation of 5-stars to other schools. Truth of the matter, and you know this better than anyone, is that no one has come close to matching Cal's run at UK in the last 6-7 years. Maybe Coach K. So, rack your little Tard brain until you come up with a pie chart to excuse the fact that UL has been absolutely dominated in every way possible by UK since Cal got here. Myself, I find it completely hilarious that UL fans, who the first couple years were spouting that Cal will never win with Freshmen, have now done a COMPLETE 180 and the only rationalization they can spew to try and make themselves feel better is to say that UK's season is a failure if they don't win it all since they are so good. Think about that big boy, your best argument and defense of your sleazy coach and commuter school is that UK should win every year since they are so good. Call UK an NBA D League team--same deal--UK is so good they look like an NBA team. Keep fooling yourself Pitino is doing things the right way.

I get tired of the constant "Wait 'til next year" mentality that follows our fan base these days

Whatever happened to being 'in the moment' and pursuing greatness with this team we have out there RIGHT NOW???

As far as I know, the No. 1 recruiting class is only a mythical "championship"

I put my money on the big hardware they hand out at the tournament and am weary of all this 'small beer' some people are so wrapped up in

I get very tired of this, as well. "So and so is the top recruit in 2018 and likes UK a lot." Who honestly cares? I understand why we do it in football because we are always terrible, but not in basketball.

Brian, everyone knows you can have more than one goal. My point was that he said " Our goal is to put 8 players in the NBA draft, not winning championships." You did not address that. I'll repeat that again "'not winning championships"

You may not agree, but I find that misleading.
I said that it was not so much as what Cal said as it was some of you guys feeling you had to explain what he said. I also mentioned that someone would say it was just "coach speak". Maybe you can tell me just what is "coach speak".

When you are the head coach you will be blamed for a lot of things, but I can't say he has failed, his record speaks for itself. We all have opinions and this is mine.

I guess my point is, why does it matter what he says?

After winning 38 and 3/4s of the games he could say his goal is to be the next Caitlyn Jenner.

The evidence speaks for itself, Cal wants to win and win badly.

His goals for individual players have had zero effect on this team's winning.

His coaching in some of those games is another story.

Folks latching on to a comment he made AFTER losing the game is shallow to me and trying to find a means to qualify their issues with his recruiting philosophy or Cal himself.

As to coach speak - you and I have been around forever, I dont need to tell you what that is. We have never had a coach take advantage of every single media opportunity to try to recruit future players like Cal.

But to reiterate, us losing the last 4 minutes of ONE game had zero to do with his goal of players to the league and anyone that thinks the man doesnt want to more than any of us is denying their own two eyes.

So ell me where I am wrong brother.

Guess how many titles UL has during the Cal era? How many titles does UK have during the Cal era. The way you post one would think that UK has about 6 more than UL, but in fact, they have the same amount. And that's amazing to me, that Pitino, with nowhere near the talent Cal has had still has the same number of national titles. Can you explain that to me? The goal is to win the national title right? Cal could stay here for 20 more years and go to 20 more final fours and if he doesn't win it, UL still has the same amount of national titles during Cal's tenure at UK. "Podge" (haven't heard that word since about the mid 90's)

Zipp, i cant argue that Pitino might have more titles than Cal with that talent.

HOWEVER, he definitely wouldnt if he only had them for one year.

Pitino has been criticized by many of your UL fans on how he handles freshmen.

That said, these kids would not leave after one year with Rick because he doesnt coach freshmen very well.

Thus the reasoning for agreeing with you, RP would have these kids 4 years and might win another one by their senior year.

It's worth noting that Cal has had no adultery scandals, no instances of flipping off fans, and absolutely zero hookers supplied to recruits.

Podge, every player that has come to UK has the aspirations of winning a championship. It was like this before Cal, while Cal is here (even the one and dones) and it will be like that after Cal no mater how much you wish it wasn't so.

One day UK will surpass UCLA as far as championship won to go along with being the all time winningest program. What will you moaners and groaners complain about then.

I agree and look forward to that day. Why would anyone wish it wasn't so?

Championship are awesome. We're spoiled cause we have the second most then any other program but I'm a fan of the boys who wear the blue no matter their won loss record.

Any kid who has the rocks to put on the blue and white knowing how demanding and fanatical our fan base is plus the dissecting and scrunity from our rival fans is worth supporting regardless.

Coach Cal one championship four final fours. Pitino one championship and two final fours.

Cal great recruiter, spokesperson for our program and state.

Dicktino gets some on a restaurant table, pays for the abortion of his own child, has his friend marry his mistress to keep her in check all to no avail. Goes to court and under othe admits he only lasted fifteen seconds.

Now has his program under investigation for providing stripers and whores to recruits and their guardians.

Let's see who do I pick regardless of their championships.

Podge is the name your coach uses to refer to people like you, losserville fans, cause he still considers all Kentuckians hicks even if they live in the big city. Nice guy isn't he.
