I really never get your post when you talk being 'in the moment' and 'waiting till next year' mentality. Since Coach Cal has been at Kentucky now 6 years we have been to the Final Four 4 out of 6 times and won a National Championship and Runner-up. In the other 2 years we made it to the elite 8 vs. WVU and had one of our worse shooting games that night going 4/32 13% from 3 and that was probably next to the 2012 championship the best talent and team at UK. The other team was the NIT when Noel went down vs. Florida midway thru season and we had just started playing well with Noel and that team. don't know how far we would have went but if Noel doesn't get hurt for season we would have been in the Tourney with Noel playing that season. SO, I really don't get your Wait till next year mentality with these numbers since Coach Cal came to UK.

I was going to say that as a joke but nevermind. Sure, last year was a choke job but you can't call that class a failure.

Why bring up Pitino? That makes no sense. Honestly, they may get a nice bracket and make it to the Elite 8 but I can't take them as a serious title contender this year. UNC, Zona, and a handful of others could run them off the floor. UK knocked them off. They just aren't a title contender

lol louisville isn't winning anything Zipp. Hyping them up when we just beat em over a week ago..you need to take your meds now nets. Anyone that isn't happy with what Cal has done in his tenure here wouldn't be happy with any other coach because no one is going to do a better job or match it. A lot of our fans just plain suck. UK fans never think about next year. There is way too much worrying, bitching and complaining to do about this year. Besides, history tells us that despite a down regular season you never count a Coach Cal coached UK team out in March. I do not have high hopes for a run this year, but I'll watch all the same. Not sure how that makes any sense. Louisville and Kentucky both have good backcourts, but Louisville has an even worse frontcourt than Kentucky. Barring Louisville getting the cakewalk they got last year, once they face top 25 competition, I think they lose.

Cal got mighty close to saying that very thing. Even before last season started he said their goal was sending eight players to NBA, not winning the championships. I'm assuming that he was talking about the recruiting class.

LOL . Yeah that team went to the title game MORON. Recruiting = success. PERIOD. But the OP makes zero sense as there isn't a single fan on here who does what he suggests. We all love UK and live in the moment but we also pay attention to the future because that matters hugely as well. Especially this year when , after we add Bolden , this will be the best class literally in the history of the sport. We will have added 5 top 10 guys and another top 15 player. Monk is the best SG in 3-5 years outta HS . Fox is the best PG in at least 2-3 year . Bam is a beast , SKJ has a very high ceiling and Gabriel is a true SF , something we have missed for a while , and IMO the most talented player in the class not named Giles . Add Bolden , the best center in the class and that is going to equal big things come tourney time next season . I do think that team will loss 5-6 games , just like this years team will but as all Cal teams do come tourney they will be a top 5 team.

For another, most rival fans created this "recruiting championship" claiming we care more about it than our team.

Let me remind everyone, that

Indiana
Loisoville
UCLA
Kansas

And most of all, UNC, HATE our excellent recruiting and the final fours that come with it. Until cal recruited this way UNC was the place of the pros and pulled huge weight though the years with their NBA alumni. It makes a huge difference. And don't believe for a second they dont hate the fact that we have caught them in NBA prestige. They absolutely do.

We will boast of NBA greats for years, and that truly is one aspect that is Caliapri's own. I love it when every time I turn on the tv, we've got 3 players on some NBA court.

With Cal we're gonna win another title, or 2, or 3. I think people just understand that and look forward to the years to come.

As an old school guy I will never be a fan of OAD but it is here to stay for the near future. I have come to understand that Cal can make it a repeatable process in most years. I enjoy following the recruiting process, I am a fan of the players that wear the blue and white each year, I miss the old days when they wore it longer and sometimes find myself thinking, lord how good would we be if these guys stayed 1 or 2 more years.


I have gotten to the point that I can enjoy each year as it unfolds, I don't worry about who goes or who stays, I will be a fan of who is here. I grew up in the days of Nash, Deeken, Dampier, Riley and the 100's of others that have come and gone since then. It doesn't matter if they are here 4 years or 1 year they represent UK basketball, that is what I grew up with and grew old with and I am sure as hell glad that I did.
