I love Cal but....

I'm more curious as to how Willis doesn't touch the ball after he hit a bit 3 midway through the second half. He was essentially left sitting in a corner and then playing D/rebounding on the other end.

Several people in this thread have hit the nail on the head about the real problem which is that it's virtually impossible to be successful losing your 4-7 best players and re-loading for the next year. Hell Duke lost it's best three players and is having a historically bad year because like us their recruits have largely been underwhelming. With only 13 players on a roster having to replace more than 2-3 guys is really really hard. Basketball is a continuity game. The more you play with someone the better rhythm you get and the better you perform. Yes their are going to be outlier's like 2010 or hopefully next year where overwhelming superior talent is enough to propel you to victory but if your recruits aren't remarkable basketball players replacing 5, 6, 7 guys is going to result in a lot of growing pains. The question is are the hills good enough for the corresponding valley's? For me with Cal they are. But that's an assessment every fan can only make for themselves.

Duke will be in Final Four again...soon as Jefferson gets back they will be tough. They got triple threat kids and shooters. I like them and Oklahoma

We're going to have to clean house after this season, especially if we add Bolden to the team. I'd run off everyone who can't cut it - Lee, Humphries, Mulder, you name it.
If I was Humphries, they wouldn't have to run me off.

I hope Skal stays four years. Just because I want to see if he can make it through the paper circle the seniors run through before they play My Old Kentucky Home.

I think we should take out last year to promote the narrative of this thread; after all, you took out the Final Fours he's been to with two of those teams that were bad in the regular season when you squeezed in your narrow assessment.
we were also too highly ranked in the preseason polls in '13 and '14. and cal would talk about that all the time.

Cal needs to swallow his pride and play some zone to hide ridiculously poor defensive efforts.

When you're being outrebounded by a pack of orange midgets, it's time to pack it in and take that away.

After every loss i usually stay away from these forums so i won't have to read our fans crying and moaning about how badly our coach sucks, but after reading this comment and actually laughing out loud, it might have been worth the visit to the site today. We have some bad losses already this season and in season's past with Cal. No one will try to deny that, but to act like the man is a bad coach and we will never win another national championship with him leading us, that's a joke and all of us know it. We all hate losing, but geez, come on. Cal is still the man and when next year's freshman class gets here, we will be back to kicking azz. When the #2 player in the country turns out to be a bust, ish like this happens. Our frontcourt is busted and not much we can do about it. We will win some more games this year and go into the tourney and let's all just hope we get on a hot streak and see how far we can go.

There are a lot of crazy, irrational posts on Rafters after last night's game, but this one truly stands out.

I'd suggest that you watch Duke play defense and then get back to us. They'll be lucky to make it back into the Top 25, much less the Final Four.

Just like us, it's just not their year.
