I know this is a sports forum....but try men/women past present armed forces

Speaking as a veteran, please remember that Memorial Day is not the same as Veteran's Day. Today is the day when we honor our fallen. If you know a veteran remember that they have likely lost friends in the service. You might be surprised to find out how many. Rather than thanking vets for their service today, try offering condolences for all of their lost friends.

Memorial Day is not the same as Veterans Day. Memorial Day is for the ones that gave their life fighting for our country. Every single damn year I have to tell people the difference.

If people also want to thank veterans on this Memorial Day I don't think its worth making a big deal over it. I'm a veteran and God knows having people thank you for your service TWICE a year is much appreciated. I believe those courageous men and women who lost their lives serving their country and keeping us safe here at home are also remembered on Veterans Day.

Word!

I served but not worthy compared to most. Just glad and thankful that our country has/had men and women willing to serve and die if necessary. USA is so blessed and most don't even understand or recognize it.
These "protest over every little thing folks" have no idea how blessed they are

They were granted the right to be petty by many countless men and women who gave everything to secure it.

They answer the call. Not for the protester or the thing being protested... But for both.

So I could have that shiny red Mustang and my woman could have her stupid Mazda. For children to receive an education and play video games.

The price for such nonsense is heavy, but it's a price paid. The best we can do to honor the memories of our debtors is to engage in whatever it is that drives us and makes us happy or gives meaning to our lives. They are the things the fallen heroes bought. Use them until there is no more use in them.

I have known a few who have fallen in combat, in training for combat, and some who died not long after retiring because of illnesses related to combat. I will honor them tonight with a toast to them and those before them. This is their day for honor and I miss them. Buzzwell, Hopper, and Harris to name a few. The latter was a Drill Sergeant I trained when I was an instructor at the Drill Sergeant School at Ft. Sill. He was killed during a training accident while training troops.. I know people say this all of the time about people but, he really was a good soldier and a better man.

Billy ray and I, thank you for your services. My grandpa was in ww2 as a cook and my other was in the Cold War. Like 9-11 never forget those who fight for our freedom

Does it really do you harm to thank a Veteran twice every damn year. Sorry for the inconvenience.
