I’m having a harder time hating this UL team. It’s always been easy to hate them. Their coach seems like an ok guy. Their players just play hard. They got away with a lot of fouls, but that’s on the refs
Obviously, I’m glad we beat them. Probably won’t think about them one way or the other the rest of this season.

I grew up with UofL and Denny Crum and he was as nice a guy as there ever was, so I have never really hated UofL, I tend to hate some of their fans more than the actual team. But they came to play and shot way above their average from 3. Hell if they played like that against Duke they would have beat them.

Not for me. 93 played dirty. Kelsey whining to Pat Adams. Constant grabbing and holding. Same old UL b/s.

Now #5 and #1 have my respect though. That and a $ will buy them a soda but I do respect them.

The only time I rooted for them is when they crushed IU this year. Other than that, no, no, no.

But now Pitino is all forgiven for doing the same thing!

🤣
To be fair, #9 has never done anything positive for the Kentucky legacy.

Pitino brought us back from the dead when we could have slid into irrelevancy w essentially the death penalty and then led us to arguable the best non-Rupp era of Kentucky basketball. Now, Pitino also added some negative to his resume with his Louisville stint but his saving grace is largely bc you can’t tell the story of UK basketball without him and once he was no longer associated w UL it’s easier to forgive and forget. (He’s also always spoke highly of UK even while at UL)

It’s like a demon possession….once the Pope exercises it…you don’t keep blaming the former possessed for transgressions…you hug them and are thrilled they are saved from the filth

Prior to the “dream game” in 83’, I never saw them as a rival. I was actually semi happy for them in 1980. Indiana was the team to hate, and the Hoosiers earned every bit of that hate. Losing to UL in 83’ was an annoyance amplified by what was at stake. By 86’ the annoyance had turned to hate. We were better than them in 86’, but got stuck having to play a team we had beat 3 times already that year. LSU joined Duke, UL& KU. I actually rooted for Duke against UL.
Eventually, IU became irrelevant. UL became more detestable. The past couple of years, UL has been so bad— they seemed irrelevant, but because of our own issues under Cal failing to advance in March, it’s been hard to get any joy from how bad UL sucks. Now we are in a new era. There are going to be plenty of villains in our conference. UL doesn’t seem like a threat in basketball. There are several very real threats in the SEC.

If they ever get good again……..your hate will return. Their fans are insufferable.
