I’m more confident UK makes a run than many on here.

I think it’s an ideal draw which never guarantees anything, but I like it.

Cats avoid their worst possible matchups (Auburn, Bama, St John’s,) and the team playing the best (Florida). I love the potential matchup against UT even though Cats have beaten them twice.

For a banged up team it’s the best possible region. Texas/Xavier or Illinois will be a difficult matchup but the Cars are better than those teams. I actually think the Cata will play Xavier.

If Butler can give the Cats something then I like the Cats chances.

We got about as good a draw as we could hope for. I found myself admiring UT somewhat this weekend, they have a lot of grit and will be a tough out. Maybe it's because Auburn is so unlikable, but they are legit. I'd like another shot at Texas.

I thought, heading into the selection process, UK would end up in either the east with duke and st john's, or in the west with florida as the 1, and hoping to see someone like texas tech as our two, but the real #2 would have been Michigan State out there, and I would not have liked that draw either. And the usual selection committee shenanigans in full effect, but they actually did pretty well from a Kentucky fan perspective, in setting it up this year, where we are concerned. Would, that all these long 50+ years I've been watching, they had been doing that all this time. It's always a variation on a theme of corruption where the NCAA is concerned, though.

All in all, if Kentucky is going to make any noise in the tournament this year, this would be the draw to do it with.

It's all manageable. Every team in the region, Houston included, even though I think we're destined to see a Houston vs. Florida title game. It's all manageable to get to the Final Four this year, even though we are a darkhorse longshot to make it that far. Just getting to the elite eight would be a huge feather in the cap for Coach Pope and this team, if you ask me.

The season will end bittersweetly enough if we can just get to the second weekend, honestly. Lots of what if's but the future looks bright.

Every time I've been sure this UK team would win they have lost and they have won a majority of the ones I thought they'd lose. The only thing I am sure about is that I don't know.
It may be because they're what's in front of us, but I feel better about 2nd weekend matchups than 1st. We seem to save our best for the best.

Kentucky is certainly battle tested after the brutal SEC this year. Pope has done an outstanding job considering he had no roster when he was hired, the SEC being the toughest conference in history this year, and the devastating injuries. Any success at all in the tournament is icing on the cake. The future is bright for Kentucky.

I think the draw lines up nicely for a possible S16, which at the start of the season I said I’d be happy with for a first year coach. Get into the second week and see what happens.
