Howdy, UGA fan here

Tons of good places to eat, you looking for a certain type of food?

Nope, anything local and close to the stadium. Are there tailgates to go to? I know some schools have big ones, you can pay to get in a drink/eat, etc. I always enjoy meeting fans of other schools

Ramsey's is good local spot. Drinks and good food. Merrick place is great chicken but a little more $$$. You have Jeff Ruby's and Tony's steak houses downtown. Joe Bologna's is a local pizza joint. Tolly Ho's is a great UK Spot.

Depends on how you define close. There really isn't anything within what most would call walking distance. I don't mean nothing good; I mean nothing at all.

I think there might be some Kroger tailgate experience. Never been so I don't have any info on it other than I recall seeing it around the stadium

Joe Bologna's is a pizza joint. Its fantastic. I'm not sure how long its been there but I first went there in '82, my freshman year. Its about 3 miles from the stadium.

My niece just graduated from UGA. She was on flag line all 4 years. I'm no fan of UGA but I pay a bit more attention than I used to with her going there and living just north of Savannah.

Pretty sure Joe started late 60’s.

I don’t even know if Joe is still alive, but he did some cool ads in the eighties discussing his thoughts/hopes for football season with either Cawood Ledford or Ralph Hacker.

Great pizza and pasta, and in an old church building for a unique atmosphere!!

I would avoid Tolly Ho. Place has gone downhill big time. I would suggest Carson’s as well, good middle of the road price wise and great brunch.

Carson’s is great. They purposely made it with the feel of an old speakeasy.

Any of the Bluegrass Hospitality Group are a good bet. The have a website that’ll show you the restaurants. Malones, Drakes, OBC, etc.

Closer to the mall area you have J Alexanders, Texas de Brazil, Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs.

We also have a few micro breweries that are decent.

Wife and I stopped in at JB’s Friday night of the Mississippi State game (also night of Big Blue Madness) and Joe himself was there helping out.

JB’s building might have been a church but it was also a former Jewish synagogue.

Hope all is well in Lexington. My family and I are big UGA fans and are driving in from NEB, next friday. Just curious as to where are good tailgates, places to eat, etc.
Should be a great game, the Cat's always scare me
Are you staying at a hotel within walking distance of the stadium? There is a little bar on Waller Ave called Campus Pub not far from a few hotels near the stadium. It has good bar food, cheap drinks and lots of tvs. Good place to pregame if the weather is crappy or you don't feel like tailgating. We call it Bar-gating.
Lots of cool places in downtown Lex but ya gotta drive, Uber or take a shuttle from there.
Also some really good microbrews around Lex like the Blue Stallion and Ethereal brewery. Ethereal has food choices nearby as well.
Have fun!

1973. It was at the corner of Maxwell & South Lime. I think it was about 1975 that they tried to get Joe to franchise regionally/nationally and he turned that down. Smart man. One of my greatest fears is that he will shut it down one day to retire and that will be it. It is not just the pizza, it is everything on the menu. I lived in Athens many years. People there could only dream of a place like Joe’s.

Perfect. We shall. Thanks. what side of the stadium are they or is it pretty easy to find.
Wildcat Nation tailgate is west of the stadium, just north of the Orange Lot. They have a white flag with "WCN" letters on it.

We went to their tailgate for the LSU game last year. I had a good time, but my wife had a so-so time and didn't care to go back, so we haven't.

I like Ramsay's a lot. Very good food and reasonably priced. If you like pizza Goodfellas is very good.

We are staying at an airbnb. According to google, like 10 minutes from the stadium. Of course it took me awhile as google had no idea what Commonwealth Stadium was. I forgot it's now Kroger field. HAHA
It will be myself, my wife, 2 boys and youngest daughter who is just 20, so just a bar is out. But, if the micro brewery sells food, that may be an option. My oldest boy brews his own and has won several awards for it up here. So, hopefully if nothign else we can buy some to bring home.

Was at OBC Kitchen a few weeks ago, fantastic food and a amazing Bourbon selection. Not far from campus

Downtown (Carson's,Rubys,Tonys,Frank and Dinos, etc) offers very pricey food but as good as anywhere. Reservations are always in short supply tho, I agree with all the Joe Bs comments.

The Bar Complex is a great spot to visit Friday nights before Gamedays. They have a bunch of free giveaways. 224 E Main St.

Nicholasville Road (major north-south artery) is just west of stadium parking areas. Starting at Southland Drive intersection (about a mile south of stadium) and continuing south is Lexington biggest commercial corridor. Every kind of fast food, Target, Walmart, Kroger, etc., etc., etc.

Also, there is an excellent German food restaurant called Marikkas. It's on Southland Drive, about 2 miles from stadium. Has probably best beer selection in town and a nice "sports bar" area and a more subdued restaurant area. If you like German food, it is very authentic.

Stick close to the city, and campus area.

Breakfast/Brunch

Stella’s Deli - Jefferson Street essentially right across from Rupp

Josie’s - Right off the main drag that goes through campus relatively close to stadium

Lunch/Dinner

Carson’s - Downtown walking distance from Marriott

Malones - Couple locations

Agave n Rye - Downtown near rupp and Hilton

Misc

West 6th Brewery - cool spot, great atmosphere…great little hole in wall kitchen attached

I agree with homer above. Marrikka's is good for German.

Most of the breweries don't have food, but very often food trucks frequent them....and many of the trucks are decent. Or, many have food very nearby.
-Mirror Twin Brewing - Has a good pizza.
-West Sixth Brewing - Smithtown Seafood is in there.

etc

Frankly, I would consider that pretty much the same.

Nice building and unique seating.
