i used to keep up with recruiting pretty closely, now I'm working more and don't have time to follow like I used to. I know Quickley is a 5 star point guard, but what kindve game does he have? Any comparisons to former players? I know our rabid fan base will know all the scoop.

TIA!

I think he's most similar to Brandon Knight out of the pgs Cal has had at UK. Became a solid shooter last summer and will improve even more.

Most seem to forget we're talking top 25ish talent when talking about this kid. It doesn't hurt the fact he would help to bring in a top 5 player, but let's not act like this kid couldn't go anywhere in the country and most likely start from day 1. Cal wouldn't be so involved if he didn't think this kid helps Kentucky on the court from day 1 as a freshman. No offense, but saying the kid aint a Wall type of talent aint really down playing the kid's talent level. John Wall type of point guards don't happen every recruiting class. Wall is a rare breed and i'm sure Cal would agree, it would be awesome if Kentucky could throw out a Wall type of point guard every basketball season.

I think you meant top-10.

He's probably the second or third best PG in the class. Many would argue Tre Jones and even Garland had a better summer, but there is no doubt he's been Cal's favorite from the beginning, and he's a pretty good evaluator of PG talent.

Quickley has the best size of this year's crop of PG, and is good shooter. Is also a great teammate and the kind of intelligent high character kid that Cal has really seemed to key in on in the last few years.

Thanks for everyone's input. Sounds like maybe he has average athleticism (we are kindve spoiled with the fox/bledsoe/wall type guards).. a good shot and good size, but not the quickness/athleticism we have seen in the past. I'm hoping we get the ball started with quickley tomorrow.

He is an average leaper. He is quite athletic from a speed and quickness standpoint. He isn't Wall, Bledsoe, or Fox in that regard, but few are.

Jones is probably the best facilitator, but Quickley is the best total package among point guards in the class.

For a team bringing back guards, he's the perfect fit.

Can play and guard either spot. Smart player. Slightly better when he doesn't have to be the primary creator. Scores at all three levels. A good enough athlete with really good length. Mostly takes good shots now.

He's a notch below the superfreaks, but he's in that next tier. Like a Knight/Lamb hybrid. Top 10 in a good class.

If he's your fourth or fifth best player, you've got a f'ing ridiculous squad.

From everything I have read he is a good kid on & off the court. Cal goes after good kids who stay out of problems. Not like the UL kids.

We heard you the first time westerncat...

Sounds like an intelligent good sized basketball player. Not necessarily a freak athlete or pro prospect, but a good college style player

He's from my hometown. young fella is very good a hard worker, defender, smart. Leader and still getting better. His game reminds me of Wayne Turner. Plus he plays the drums in his church and is very good at it.
I'll take another Wayne turner! Lol. What are the aspects of his game that he needs to work on the most?

Needs to finish better in traffic. Doesn't absorb contact very well from what I've seen of him.

Also has a bit of a slow/low release, which is why I think he's better off the ball for now as a catch and shoot guy instead of trying to shoot off the dribble..

Needs to fine tune his playmaking too.

only showed twice on my computer. I'm old so I did not grow up with computers like some of you did. And I don't drink. Just having problems with this site. :( Well I think I got things worked out. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks.. :)

He is getting there. I can see him and Greene playing together in the backcourt.

Hey westerncat don't worry about that crap. You are a good person and poster. Your one of my favorites posters. u9k brought nothing of substance with his post. Must be a grammar cop or English teacher. Your post was about basketball and his wasn't! Continue on.
