we've been through this many times. with mohammed, henry etc. pretty sure i've not wanted a guy this bad, late in the process since cal has been here. either way, diallo in blue and dreams come true imo.

Diallo is going to be a pro no matter which school he chooses. What he wants to accomplish in college is the question. Go to St. John's be the man and maybe make the tourney. Come to Kentucky be one of the men and play on championship caliber team , all while most likely improving his draft stock.

Diallo gives us another scoring option and rebounding help. He is a terrific athlete who will get much better defensively as the year goes on. Fingers crossed.

Diallo would be a perfect fit in Calipari's system. He would get a lot of alley oops and transition baskets. Kenny Payne would do wonders for his post up game too. Diallo is a position of need so I'd love to see him in UK blue next season.

Perfect match! We need his talents and he will be a household name with deep connections to everything he needs in the future.

Diallo to UK would complete a frontline package that would enable UK to defend anyone on the most competitive level.

Poythress
Lee
Diallo
Skal

Would there be a more athletic frontcourt in the country?

What happened to all the Newman is the man threads? Maybe diallo will come here if the slaw bags licking bookers car will do the same for him. I wouldn't read too much into him following perry Ellis on Twitter since let's face it Ellis is destined for the d league. The only thing he could teach diallo is to not play like him. I do think slice played a major role with briscoe who is mr New York. Diallo is there for a cup of coffee and then off to the league. His exposure would be much greater if he chooses UK. I think there are two things kentucky can offer him that St. John's and Kansas cant.
1. Contend for a national championship
2. A teammate that's as good as him to which he can relate to.

Skal and diallo could easily speak French all day long on the court against opponents telling each other what play needs to be run and most will have no clue what they are saying

If all we are going to do is pound in the middle to Diallo, then I'm not sure if I want him.

Sans Ingram (which seems likely) I expect UK to play with 3 guards next year. Diallo would be nice but Poy is going to be the 4 imo and maybe Lee can be the backup. So it's not end of world without him and maybe Wynward comes in mid-year.

Still would like to have him tho still don't see any way we don't play 3 guards

So bad that I'm willing to ignore that I have no idea how to pronounce any part of his first or last name.

Shike? Chick? Chike? Check? Jallo? Dee-ello? Dillo? Jee-allo?

But imagining Ralph Hacker trying to call a high-low pass from Skal to Diallo is pretty hilarious.

I'd rather have Diallo than Newman at this point. We need more size rather than guard play. I think we add Mulder and have an outside shot of getting Murray to reclass, if that's the case Diallo is the biggest need left. Love his energy and aggressiveness, would get a lot of dunks with Ulis.

Probably - but maybe not. This is a common line of thinking - especially among our rivals who want to denigrate our coach by saying, well, the kids UK gets, they'd be pros anywhere anyway. That thinking, as a general truth, is demonstrably untrue. Think of Cliff Alexander - a top 5 player in a much better class, and even before the NCAA deal he was having an underwhelming year. Think of the highly rated kids Pitino has gotten through the years - he's had 7 five star kids, IIRC, and 5 of them went undrafted. After the fact, it's easy to say, well that kid was over-rated coming out of high school, his failure had nothing to do with coaching. I think that is likely shortsighted as to just how important coaching is. I heard Dan Wetzel recently talking about the perception inside the AAU/5 star world of various college coaches and programs. He said Cal and K are unique - they simply don't have the "misses" like the other coaches. The feeling is if you go to UK or Duke, you greatly lessen the chances you'll be a bust.......

We HAVE to land Diallo. If we don't we better land Maker and one of Newman, Brown, Ingram or Murray.

I will not lose any sleep over any of these guys. Nor will I upset myself by visiting message boards. Already been here to long gotta go!

Very true. I probably shouldn't have stated it like I did. I agree with you tho. He could very well turn into a C.J Leslie like player who many around here were pretty upset that we didn't get. Not saying Leslie was a bad player but if he would have came to UK he would have more than likely been a first round pick.

Not half as bad as I wanted Sherry in '75.

Truthfully, I'm not gay so I don't want him bad lol. Jk, I would love to have him No matter what any expert says I never doubt cal and his chances of landing good talent. next year will not be 2013. We will be a competive team. Diallo would be that missing piece. Call me crazy but I never understood the love fest for Newman. Yes he's a great player, but give me ulis all day long. He's like the Rudy of UK basketball and a team player.

We have bigs---need Brown and Ingram...those two would fill obvious gaps... we have players like Diallo...arguably better than Diallo.

I decided not to get my heart set on any recruit in particular.

I'm fine with what we have and will ecstatic if we land him.

I'd like to see him come for multiple reasons. The most recent reason involves Cal's undoubted new sales tag as the "international coach" with a possible combination of Diallo/Skal/Wynyard/Murray.

On a scale of 1-10, I'd say 7.5. Of the remaining high profile recruits and potential reclassifiers (Newman, Brown, Ingram, Diallo, Murray, and Maker) I really want 2 but even if we only get 1, I'll be content. Cal can maneuver our game plan around whichever of these guys he lands. If he gets a guard, we'll play a faster, maybe 3 guard lineup. If he gets a big, we'll play 2 bigs like last year, if he gets a wing we'll play a more balanced approach. I don't think any of those 6 guys is really the "must have" per se that some may feel they are.

Diallo and any one of the others. Watching him in the all-star games was incredible, even if there was no defense played. Full speed 100% of the time

i liked what i saw in those games. but, of course, real games are not so open and fast paste.

i really wish the Rules and Ways Committee would move away from the street ball by adopting some of the NBA's rules. but that might make too much sense, and it would give the mid-majors no shot against the big boys.

Poythress Lee, Skal, and Diallo would be a dominant front court.

It would be a ray of light in between storms thats for sure and would perk up the board, but this is a players first program and we need him to go where is best for him.
