I watched a couple of high-school games this week and streamed a couple of more this week and just had a couple of thoughts !!!
1.) Its great to see the kids and the schools enjoying the season kickoff and all the optimism that goes with it . Kentucky is not Texas and its not Friday night lights but it still something to enjoy and bring communities and kids together .
2.) Coaches of the programs are fun to watch and they put their hearts into what they do I applaud their efforts.
3.) The kids were a joy to watch !!! A touchdown run or catch , a tackle for a loss , a sack ect , are just moments of pure joy it doesn’t matter the level of participation the kids live in the moment and thats awesome !!
With all that said you still start to see the headlines about college recruiting especially in schools that have kids that are top level talent. The coaches promoting their program lol dropping the pearl that “college coaches are calling because they want to see how we do things” lol . “The guys we have are so good they have to go to a national power not a local school” . Lol seems to happen every year lol. I remember the coaching staff at Matt Elams school being quoted all over the internet lol . The coach at Madison Southern discussing the strength of his program being the reason “coaches were showing up to recruit in Berea” lol . Its hard , I’m sure when you have a good team and players not to get caught up in the hype , thats just human nature . Still I would ask the coaches and fans of those schools to remember the joy and happiness that less fortunate schools exhibit live in the moment enjoy your season, let the next level take care of itself . Just random thoughts this morning but after watching about 6 games the last 2 days and going to a couple more today counting little league it just was something i wanted to say.
