UK played Georgia to a standstill. Beat Ol Miss THERE. Hung with Tennessee. This team should have more wins. Period. Uninspired, undisciplined, unprepared....to me it speaks of coaching.

At the same time, although Sunrall seems to be candidate of choice, Kentucky is Hamstrung with a massive buyout. There two SEC schools that will pay whatever it takes to be winners again...Auburn and Florida will definitely have Sunrall on radar. If that's the way Kentucky wants to go they better get wheels rolling yesterday.

Florida has 3 titles since 1996. Auburn won one in 2010 and made another appearance n 2013. They have more NIl money and more talent in state.

If Sumrall didn't play here I doubt UK would even be considered. Thankfully you have that one trump card to play if you are UK. You can't compete with much else against FL or Auburn as far as resources go.

And yet Auburn is awful. NIL had nothing to do with us giving a poor effort that game. They just ran straight over us and for the upteenth year we have a pitiful offense. Sumrall might end up with ‘better job’ opportunities I just don’t think everything is NIL related just because stoops is pitching that.

I don’t think Stoops could win if we had all the NIL money available to him. He is just using it as a crutch for his excuses on why we aren’t winning.

Stoops is leaving on his own at the end of the year. I think that is easy to see. The preseason comments on NIL. the team not playing inspired, Stoops standing on the sideline with no fire.

All of culmination of him not getting the AM job. This season was doomed when he was forced to come back to a place he no longer wants to be.

I’d put it at 50/50. I thinks he’s an old head and all the old heads are starting to dip out in this new landscape. But I can also see his stubborn ass be stubborn and come back. At any rate, the next couple seasons is likely a rebuild of pretty big proportions. That bums me out.

Auburn should never struggle in football honestly
Auburn is a step child in Alabama. They're little brother just as we think of UofL to Bama. Their only salvation is the talent in AL, GA, MS and Florida which all produce tons of talent, almost all in their back door. If they were in our local they would have the same problems we do.

NIL has turned into quite the excuse for a lot of coaches and a large portion of our fan base.

Reading the AU site many want to get rid of Freeze but a couple things make them nervous. It would be 2 coaches they have fired after 2 years, would they have a hard time attracting a big name. 2 afraid their recruiting class will fall apart, they are committed to AD'S NIL, not Freeze so I think most would stay. UF wants an offensive guy so I doubt Sumrall would be a priority. Arkansas is likely to be looking, no idea what they would do. Another that has a coach on thin ice is OU, they have 3 tough games left and could be 5-7.

Absolutely right that we have under-performed our talent level which is quite contrary to most of Stoops years where you could make a case that they out-performed their talent level. Aside from many of the issues that have been pointed to it all goes back to program management.

I'm very positive on Sumrall as the hypothetical head coach here, but I wouldn't be automatically locked into one candidate, I would want to compare with who else might be out there. I think 50/50 chance Napier survives but if not no way Florida goes with another GO5 coach IMO, I mean Napier looked just as good on paper then as Sumrall does now. And if I were Sumrall I would stay clear of Auburn. They go through coaches like I go through long necks on the 4th of July. Unless you beat Bama you won't last there and hell they can't even beat Vandy right now.

You mean Auburn goes through head coaches the same way UK goes through OCs?
