Has the SEC network's interview with Patrick Towles forced Stoops

Yes, if and when that happens... The reality is that Towles has left a lot to debate, so of course other options will be discussed until he shuts the door.

No doubt, Towles has to do what he can in order to shut that door. He has the key. Last year was a weird season and I don't like to use the offensive line excuse for all of it. I think a lot of it on Towles was possibly just mental. Hopefully this year he learns to stand in there and make the throws to get defenses backpedaling. Then our running backs can take advantage.

I wouldn't take any QB in the country over Towles. It's hilarious that people are suggesting that Barker should start over him. Mind boggling really.

Not sure what team that you have been watching but this past year was Towles's second year starting not three. Not sure if he will be great or not but a single QB is never going to make an offense great. Until we get an oline that can block and receivers that can catch and get open, no one at that spot will get it done. And then you got the defense and special teams to think about so you might want to stay on that fence, its not as risky.

Watched same team you watched. This year will be his fourth this coming season. Everyone understands a redshirt year. At least, I would have thought so earlier.

I am "on the fence" about some others you mentioned but this tread was about Patrick.

Otherwise, I agree with you.

Not sure what team that you have been watching the past three years, but Towles was the starting QB only last season, RSed two year ago, and in 2012 was 3rd string QB behind Whitlow & Smith & started 1-2 games when they were both hurt before he was also injured.
He was not named the starter in the beginning of the year. To get it by default because everybody in front of you was injured is a big difference. Of course if you have an agenda then your argument makes sense.

Towles never started a game until last year. Other than that, your recollection seems very accurate.

I would expect the starting QB will impliedly be revealed in July during the SEC media days. KY not likely to send a non starting QB to SEC media days. If neither go then one would assume there is a QB battle.

is it 2 or 3 now players who go to SEC media days? if it is 2 I'd bet on

Boom Williams
Jordan Swindle

if it is 3 then the best defensive player, Melvin Lewis or Forrest

Didn't they take Swindle to the SEC Media thing last year? Seems I recall moments before he was introduced to the crowd he jumped off sides.

easy, that is our senior leader and the all-important blind side tackle for our QB (whoever it ends up being) you are talking about there

FWIW unless he falls on his face this offseason in Curtis Pulley-like fashion Towles will be our starter. But I bet we also see Drew Barker play every game. And not just end of the game time, I think they will put him out there for 1 series a game in the 1st half.

I could care less who is the starting QB. I just want a reliable QB that will have us competing in the SEC.
