I had to have surgery last year and I'm not exactly sure why but the gout, which I've had for decades but not like this, and the neuropathy which is new since the surgery, I think my days of standing for concerts is over. My days of Headliners, Mercury Ballroom, Paristown may very well be over unless something improves. Kind of sucks because live music is one of my favorite things in life. I probably wouldn't even go to a big game anymore if I thought I would have to stand for the entire game.

I did just realize the Black Crowes were coming to the Palace on August 9. I will be doing that. I'll be really mad if this happens again.

I'll be honest, I'm unaware of Mr. Siwa's work.

How old are you? If you’re under 60 you can definitely rehab yourself. You can do it buddy!

I was there that night at the Louisville Gardens. Just one song in and then Chris Robinson says something like" I just want to let you know the police beat up one of our buddies so we're our of here "

I’ve never seen anything that bad. I did see an opening act so bad that after a few songs the guy went ‘I’m getting kind of tired, think I’m gonna split early’ and everyone started cheering so he threw the mic down and walked off

56. Really nothing to rehab for either is the problem.

The Jayhawks were good but that was kind of surreal. I'll never forget them saying they had to go check something out backstage and then Chris Robinson came back out and gave some speech about how they came here to share their gift of music with us and the cops were just hassling them. I was disappointed because I was just the right combo of high and drunk.
Black cherry juice helps relieve gout if you haven't tried that.
I'm on both allopurinol and colchicine. Rheumatologist says I'll probably be on the colchicine for about a year and the allopurinol for life. It was kind of funny when I was in the hospital about the nerd fight going on between doctors about whether you are supposed to take them both at the same time.

Glenn, I assume that you have been told that some foods are major triggers for gout. Organ meat, some seafood, mushrooms, beer and others are especially bad. I also take antacids whenever I eat acidic foods as gout is associated with blood acidity.

Yup, I know all about it. I've dealt with gout for half my life, just not like this. The neuropathy doesn't help.

Another harsh reality of life: Tennessee will never make a final four.

I mean, I don’t consider it harsh, but some a little south of me might.

My biggest hope for the tournament every year (besides Kentucky related things) is that Tennessee loses at the buzzer in the elite 8. They can go to the elite 8 every year for the rest of my life and I’m fine with that. I just want them all to cry at the end

So basically anything good to eat or drink is bad for gout. I have a bit of the gout myself. Standing at concerts gets a little rough, i feel like i have a ball on the bottom of my right foot when i stand too long. have osteoarthritis in my left knee along with gout and a bakers cyst that was drained back last June (discovered the gout when it was drained) I'm on steroid shot #2 in the knee, hoping Insurance approves the gel in the joint, just went to the orthopedist last week about it to be told I have joint replacement in my future. When depends on how long i want to try to maintain and live with what I have. Gonna probably maintain until the winter when i don't have a thousand projects around the house to work on.

Alcohol is usually the biggest gout trigger in men (beer is worse than spirits and wine). High fructose corn syrup is a big trigger, so best to avoid regular soda. Organ meat (liver, kidney sweat breads, brain) is the worst meat for you. Everything else is ok in moderation. Also staying hydrated helps a lot. I used to get a gout attack 1-2 times a year. Losing weight, drinking less alcohol and avoiding a handful of foods has eliminated my bouts with gout FWIW.

Gout is like a cruel joke. Your toe will hurt? yeah, anyone will take that as opposed to other things if they were picking... No, your toe will hurt bad enough to cut it off. Oh...

(I am fortunate to not have it, but have a couple of friends that it damn near cripples)

I'm not sure what the surgery did but I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 months because of it. I couldn't stand much less walk. If you just pulled the blanket over my feet I would be crying. I had it so bad in my hands the closest I could come to making a fist was my fingers still being 3 or 4 inches from my thumb.
