Haarms Announcing Tomorrow

I usually give Dave the benefit of the doubt but he was pretty off base again. Said we for sure had our “centerpiece” but so were our own insiders on HOB. They’ve been way off on quite a few recruits the last year or so.

I mean it sucks but it’s not like Purdue’s 7th man was going to make or break us this next year.

Did you fact check this? That doesn't sound right. Our 2010 and 2015 rosters had to be taller across the board. Especially the 15 team.

Harrison 6’6
Harrison 6’6
Lyles 6’10
KAT 6’11
WCS 7’0

Some are saying Clarke is 6’8 now:

So:
Boston 6’7
Brooks 6’7
Clarke 6’8
Jackson 6’9
Haarms 7’3

If Clarke is indeed 6’8 my lineup is an inch taller than 2015. If he is 6’7 its a tie and if he is still 6’6 2015 is an inch taller.

Well it has been proven the past 2 years that unathletic bigs get exposed in pick and roll situations with our defensive scheme. Reid and Nate both got singled out multiple times per game in those situations to get them on a quick guard that they couldn't handle.
Wasn’t so much they were exposed as that type of defense sucks. We lost to Wisky because of that very thing.

The guy is always off. When are we going to stop giving him a pass because “everyone misses some”. Also said that UK reached out to the VCU transfer, then it came out that we didn’t. I think he’s missed on every recent “insider” news he’s thrown out.

Since there was no tournament it ended up not mattering but Blackshear would have took EJ spot, not Nick’s. And yes, we would have been much better off with KB than EJ.

EVen with Haarms next year was gonna be average at best. Now.... I’m hoping there’s not a season. Maybe if Cal has over a full year to recruit for one specific season he might have a chance to win another title.
Wow. It must suck to live in a world where you would just hope we don’t have a season because we missed on a grad transfer from Purdue. Will you still be saying this when we bring in a big from somewhere else? Will you promise not to watch when we go out and win games with a smaller lineup?

Bro besides the fact Dave is a fraud using a fake pic and fake credentials Hes also a fake account set up by like morgousky or ruppsrunt. Think I’m joking ? When someone touts being an insider and to look him up and the only thing you find is an article from a decade ago claiming to be an insider from Mexico making again a wrong prediction LOL you know you are a dealing with a verified psycho. Again think I’m kidding? Check it out yourself.

actually relieved with this news. Haarms is a bit of a stiff. Sure, a 7’3” stiff, but stiff nonetheless. I think we’ll get someone better once the temporary transfer rule goes into effect.

if not, we already have 3 guys that will be taking most of the shots. Haarms would have been some extra fouls.

And the puns all week were awful.
Yeah, I'm hoping Cal can dig up someone that is a better fit.

I keep seeing some on here say Haarms chickened out and Cal would have made him a first rounder. No way. Haarms will never be a first rounder. I don’t care if Phil Jackson was his coach, he's as stiff as a board and very weak.

Don't get me wrong, I wanted him, but he's not the player most on this board thinks he is. I think they fell in love with his height. We would have won the opening tip more times than not, but that's about it.

Forgot in this world having a Facebook account means legitimacy. This gets more sad. Dude is fraud. Only idiots at this point would argue he isn’t. Last post about him cause clearly that account has some loyal fans who can’t take the blinders off. Have a god blessed day and stay safe and healthy

Well we don't have a true center on the team right now at all so we needed him.
Haarms wasn’t the guy that was going to properly man the 5 next year. He's a good backup, but he can't do the things Cal wants a 5 to do.

I'm confident Cal will get someone, but I don't know if it's going to be someone that is good enough.

I really don't understand why all these big guys are turning their backs on UK. It's mind boggling.

WOW...…...you must know EVERYTHING.....if you don't like the guy don't read what he posts...…..it's pretty simple
This is just a message board…….something to pass the time...…..nor life or death

I get what you're saying, but look at the guys at the 4 and 5 spots on that 2015 team compared to the 4's and 5 on the 21 team. That's where your length is most effective.

But it certainly is nice to have extreme length on the perimeter.

Efton or maybe Banchero

At this point could you relay to your buddy to make a thread about Greg brown going to Texas. That he’s super confident about it etc.. so on and so forth. That way Kentucky has a legit shot of landing him. He’s been dead wrong about every single prediction might as well start using his failure as a possible ray of sunshine for bbn

Efton or maybe Banchero
Banchero would be a dream, especially at this point, but we still need another one.

The VCU kid would be nice, but also there is a big kid from Evansville that is pretty talented.

This really isn’t good, anyone that pops up in the transfer portal is doing so for a reason.

Haarms is transferring because he wasn't going to get much pt at Purdon't. That tells you something.

I was hoping to get him and one more big butt guy to man that 5 spot.

It may not be best for UK but it's what's best for the kids because that's what they play in the NBA. Barf.

Matt Jones on KSR now talking about Haarms' decision

He said:

- Conventional wisdom was it was going to be UK but he kept adding/removing schools
- Someone told him last night that UK folks weren't confident any more in landing him
- MJ was never told specifically that Haarms is going to BYU
- Now, seems certain that he is headed to BYU
- Clearly, his goal is not to get to the NBA

- UK zeroed in on him as the big man option for the past few weeks. As of now, nobody else out there to fill the spot
- UK has not reached out to VCU guy
- Doesn't understand Cal's problems in getting a big guy to come to UK

The door is closed with Richards returning, right? I know that even if it wasn't, the likelihood of him returning is basically 0, but I was thinking he and Montgomery announced they would enter the draft with no agent and EJ later closed the door on a return. I've never read about Richards doing that.

Thanks for the summary.

It really is unbelievable.

Cal has had more success with top-tier big men, and developing big men, than any other coach in America BY FAR.

But we haven't been able to land one lately.

Makes no sense.

You can hire an agent and still pull out of the draft. I think that rule changed a couple years ago.

If Haarms magically chooses us last minute, you would have never thought anyone in here discredited him as a soft big. There would be tons of posts thereafter drooling at our potential lineups, rotations, etc

exactly those “we don’t need him he sucks” will magically turn into “7’3” beast he’ll average 5 blocks a game!”

I'm of the belief that his decion had little to do with the NBA, nor was it necessarily even the pressure of a big programt. I think he did what most recruits do, and make this a spectacle. Kentucky and BYU couldn't be more opposite of each other. There's no reason a recruit should be considering both.. and by that I mean, one of the schools was never a true contender. And that school, in my opinion, was Kentucky, from the start.

You don't go from picking schools like Kentucky or TTU or even Gonzaga.. to then settling on BYU, when you were already at Purdue.

Either that, or Mark Pope and BYU are also handing out benefits.

I don't know about all mormon gals, but I have heard this quite a few times about BYU girls. Apparently the beauty walking around that campus is something to behold.

But the problem is they've all signed those "you can look but not touch" morality contracts.

Can you not read? I said even with Haarms we would have been average. I wasn’t looking forward to next season whether he came or not but damn sure not now. We have ZERO post game. Hell Skal would be a clear upgrade over what we have right now.

What I’m most pissed about is we finally get a couple of true elite players for the first time in years and they’re gonna be wasted on a 10 loss team.
