GYERO

Tuesday Shorts:

- Man, Virginia is impressive. I know they're style bothers some but they are just so efficient and relentless on offense. No wasted movement. Would rather avoid them if we can.

- This is not commentary on how they will do in March, but was there a bigger lock than Kansas improving a bunch and knocking on the door of a 1/2 seed?

- I just hope UK avoids Wisky and Arizona as a 2-seed.

- This year is an outlier for the SEC. Usually we have a couple teams ranked.

- Thread on IC asking if Roy is becoming Tubby. Damn good question.

- Briscoe is already built like an NBA PG.

Tried to have this convo with Todd MF Harris but instead he was being a prick.

"OH NO... We're def going to Cleveland... Blah BLah... I'm talking over you so I'm right!!! Peevy, my boy, told me so."

I could see us ending up in Houston rather than Cleveland because we're the "Southern" most #1. Which really means we're going to give Bo and K(ACC) a more comfortable draw in cities closer to campus. UVA or Duke makes tons of since in Cuse.

UVA/Duke - East
Wisky - Midwest
UK - South
Zags - West

We are supposed to get preference if we're the overall #1 to the closest venue which by far is Cleveland. I just don't see any way we go East. If we do, they're just screwing with us.

Everyone hopes they avoid us. That comforts me. I was wrong about UNC. They don't like to play the second half.

If you wanna feel Richie-like positive, just listen to Freddie Maggard.

That guy puts a positive spin on everything. Caught him on Sunday Morning Sportstalk 630 on the way home from Cincy...sounds like we have the #1 class to me!

- I just hope UK avoids Wisky and Arizona as a 2-seed. I'll take Wisky, not interested in UVa or Zona.

- Thread on IC asking if Roy is becoming Tubby. Damn good question. Absolutely. They're not running like they used to. Don't have talent like the used to. Don't have heart or toughness like they used to. He screwed himself pressuring guys to come back. TS.

- Briscoe is already built like an NBA PG. Love that kids attitude. Told the staff I don't care who comes. I'm in.

Really happy that I only superficially follow football recruiting.

Standard issue....Carolina is so friggin soft. They have so much more basketball skill than UL then UL starts getting physical with them on the boards and they shit the bed while getting rattled.

Ridiculous they go from guys like McCants, Williams, May, Hansburough, Thompson to the soft teams they've had since. What's more surprising is the fact they don't get out in transition like you would expect Roy teams.

They're better than whatever they're going to be ranked next week.

Can't tell if DadgumRoy is turning into Tubby or Garry Williams. either transformation is fine with me, and hope they are stuck with the results for another 4-5 years.

So tonight just another ugly slagfest where it stays just under the point spread, then at the 9 min mark Cal REALLY puts on the breaks or nah?

The older I get, the more embarrassed I am that I even follow it this much.
Agree. Think I need to do some self evaluation after this class is signed and make a decision on spending time on more important things. No way I should be almost 40 and be so caught up on what 17-18 years old kids are doing. Pathetic actually.

That cock sucker, narcissistic, twerp DH took his toll on me. That kid can DIAF for how that went down.

Meh, Nantz isn't my favorite, but it just seems "right" having him calling the biggest games in March & the Final 4.

I'm like that in all sports ...Verne may die on set at any time, and seems well past his prime ---> but it still feels "right" when he's calling the big CBS SEC Football game each week, and won't be the same when he isn't.

Same with Nantz.

I'm with you fellas on the football recruiting stuff. I'm dun.

a Georgia fan who posts on the Liar said it best, life will be so much better if you just read about the kids who actually signed and sent in their letters rather than waste time following this commit/flip/silent verbal/grade trouble/taking visits ish anymore.

Didn't see anything in the press release about each individual school having their own broadcast team.

Wonder who would get it?

#00 with Bromley or nah....

If you're just going by rankings/etc., it sets up...

West - Gonzaga
South - Arizona
Midwest - Kentucky
East - Virginia

Duke won't go where Virginia goes, so throw them to Kentucky or Arizona, but Arizona seems likely. Wisconsin to Kentucky b/c the NCAA LOVES rematches. And then Kansas to Gonzaga out West.

West - Gonzaga/Kansas
South - Arizona/Duke
Midwest - Kentucky/Wisconsin
East - Virginia/Villanova

None of you are "done" with recruiting. That's part of the DNA of a hardcore fan, which most of us are here.

Sure, you may mellow a bit with age (or not) about it, but you're always gonna care, follow it, and be "sucked in" whenever we have a good class, a big recruit on the line, etc, etc.

What's the point of pretending otherwise? It's completely false. I take you about as seriously as "I'm not doing any shots tonight" guy. (which is not at all, if you're scoring at home)

Too bad we're still suck w/ Nantz tho.
I'm with you on Nantz for the most part (Team Kevin Harlan), but "This is the point where he always hits it" is one of the coolest basketball play by play calls I've ever heard in my life.

As long as Nantz has a good partner, he's good. Sucks that Greg Anthony was a big fan of whores, because I thought Greg got 10x more out of Nantz than Clark Kellogg did, or even Packer at the end of his run. Raft is the best college basketball color commentator in the world. It's going to be great as long as we're there.

--Send a few hookers to take out Nantz and Kellogg = problem solved.

--Airybody's flipping. UGA has lost 9 and is sweating out 3-5 more. Doesn't make our situash (always wanted to use that) feel any better though.

--Don't be talking shit about Freddie Wayne. I feel the same way about him as you do when you get butthurt over comments about the Lil' General.

As long as Nantz says 'Yes Virginia, there is a Championship' if UVa wins then I win a bet I made with a buddy 15 years ago and I am happy with him being in the booth.

If you are going by rankings, Arizona isn't in the top 4, so not a #1 seed.

Expanding on chad's KU thoughts, they are #1 in the (flawed) RPI, and could definitely wind up with 4 losses pre-tourney and steal a 1 seed, which probably gives them the South. B12 is once again their bitch.

Would hate to play Wisky before the title game, considering how they always injure our best player. And flop as bad as UL/Duke.

Agree there is NO reason to give UK the East. Which is why they'll do it.

I trust my boy Kenny more than anyone. Regardless, I haven't seen anyone NOT predict Kentucky to the Midwest. Which means we're going to Syracuse.

I just don't see the reason to panic over this football recruiting class...a combination of shitty things (losing Harris, almost losing Morrow, having to replace a couple of assistant coaches a critical times in the process, the losing streak at the end of the year) that combined to basically sink our momentum with this group. Even the lackluster offseason of the SEC probably played a part.

We show some on field results this year and make a bowl game and I still have confidence that Stoops will bounce back with next year's class. If we win 5 or less, it's going to continue to be a hard sell for this program.

It would be difficult for me to convince myself to make another trip to Syracuse. Not one redeemable quality I can think of.

Ugly bitches, shitty bars, meh food, terrible orange drank, and the worst "strip club" I've ever been to. I'd been scared to death if not so drunk.

It certainly makes the most sense for us to go to Cleveland but when have we gotten the sensible draw in the NCAAT?

In all seriousness, 2010 was a weird year. KU was the overall #1 seed so they got the Midwest in st. Louis - understandable.

Syracuse was the last #1 seed, and they couldn't play in the East, which meant they got shipped out West - understandable.

But what made no sense was giving Duke the South, with 9th ranked Nova as their weakass #2 seed, while sending UK to the East to face easily the top #2 seed WVu - on a court they play on every year.

Literally made no sense. Duke is more East than UK. Duke is slightly closer to Syracuse than UK. And UK is hell of a lot closer to Houston than Duke. The only rationale is that Syracuse is closer to Lexington than Houston, but 100% of UK fans would say they'd rather go to Houston than touching Syracuse.

And then better seed gets the #5 team in the country (in an in conference venue) and Duke get's the #9 team.

No real explanation other than the committee trying to stick it to UK for some reason.

How does it work with the loge boxes at the Yum center? Are they like suites and your in there with a group of people, or are they more just open seats...

If you're axing about the NCAA, be careful.

I was in a suite as a guest of AP.com for the last NCAA, and we had Nathan in terms of booze, etc. I assume whoever owned the suite just didn't pre-order it (probably what happened) but we were shit out of luck, weren't even allowed to purchase anything ourselves once we realized the situation -- pretty much defeats the whole purpose of the suite.

Maybe it's like that all the time, but they acted like the NCAA had stricter rules regarding that stuff -- pretty sure you couldn't even "reorder" if you ran out.

I'm sure Harris or other habitual non-regular-seat sitters can probably expand.

Good to know, thanks bubbers. Was just looking on stub hub and saw some of those.

-I think the Beans have been in those end zone high top bar seats. Might ask them. Man, I CAN NOT WAIT for that weekend. Rooms booked downtown

.

-I actually wouldn't mind Houston. Crappy town but not any worse than f*cking Cleveland. Especially that time of year. Much rather be in Texas. Plus, it seems we just do better when we travel south. Driving to the other two, marcus fly to one.

-I like Nantz on the call. Way it should be.

Well, it's one answer.

I'm so envious of UL's schedule. How many hookers would you kill to have a conference schedule like that?
It's a give and take. Is the second half of their schedule better? Absolutely. But we played UNC, Kansas, Texas, UCLA. So ours was more frontloaded. Pitino's non-conference schedule usually includes playing about a dozen RPI 200-300 teams at home.

Man, I'm working with this young (26) British client who's moving in from out of town.

I don't think I've ever talked to a British lass...but I could listen to her all day. Sexy as hell.

Tempted to check her out on FB, but don't wanna "ruin" it, prefer to think she's Keira, Rosamund, or (insert for fav sexy talking Brit here. And Yes, I had to Google 'Hot British Actress')

That UK NBA $ stat is amazing, especially considering we still have all the 2012 guys and Brandon Knight still on their rookie salaries right now, plus Noel, Goodwin (was he really a Wildcat) in a few years.

If you don't want to ruin it don't look her up. Basically 75% chance she's pale, chubby and not attractive. They do produce a few hot ones over there but my experience in that area is 3/4 are not hot. Maybe more than that.

Mainland Europe is where the good food, good booze and beautiful women reside.
