So basically the last two teams to sell are the Mavericks and Lakers. Those two teams just so happened to have the biggest global star the league has to offer and after one team sold for the highest ever 3.5B with Luka, they then traded him to the Lakers who sold 5 months later for 10B.

You honestly don’t think the league was helping guide that Lakers sell behind the scenes? You honestly think Luka just fell into LA’s lap? You truly believe all that was done and then someone stepped in 5 months later on a whim and bought LeBron/Luka which are the two most marketable stars the NBA has to offer?

A blind man could have told you with how everything played out it’s no wonder Dallas is sitting on the #1 pick, but that’s just coincidence to you.

Perfectly fine you believe that………….but on the idea of conspiracy let’s say the league knew LA had a buyer and just couldn’t see the 10B price tag the Buss Family wanted. You truly think there is no way the league didn’t have feelers out as to who could possibly be traded to LA to boost that sell price and give added equity to every owner?

You don’t think that’s in their best interest and they’d do something like that?

Well as Clyde Davis would say:

Shhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttttttt
This is so f'ing dumb it makes my head hurt.
  • E&Y is the auditor for the draft. Their revenue is $51B. The NBA's is $12B. You think EY is going to risk severely damaging their brand to help a couple NBA teams cheat, especially when the NBA probably only pays them with free advertising to audit the NBA draft?
  • The Lakers going for $10B doesn't change the valuation of say Charlotte at all. And pretty sure the value of Charlotte would go up quite a bit if they got the Duke kid compared to whoever they are going to get with the 4th pick of the draft. So they're not going to be down with shenanigans that reward Dallas.
Well as Jenny from Forrest Gump would say:

Are you stupid or something?

You serious Clark? I get Catfan not comprehending some things but I did expect better from the resident Norton Common Housewive club.

The Hornets ay? Well guess what Micheal Jordan sold his majority share in that team at 3B in August of 2023.

See how that works?

Hornets 2023 3B
Mavericks 2024 3.5B
Lakers 2025 10B

You don’t think by default that number escalating is good for all the owners? Sure it doesn’t mean the Bucks will sell for 10.5B but I guarantee you it sells more than what it would have 2-3 years ago.

Surely you understand that? And you are damn right the League wants its owners to get top dollar even if it has to help move a few pawns around to aid in that.

It isn’t cheating, and it isn’t a conspiracy because Dallas wasn’t wrong in not wanting to invest 335M in Luka to keep him. Seems stupid to most, but just after paying 3.5B for the team I’d pass too.

I guess they just got some good Karma in return because E&Y audits the draft.

You mean this E&Y……….

E&Y so credible per White Wayne😂

Quick google search shows all this in the last 5 years:

Here’s a short highlight reel:

Wirecard (2020): EY signed off on financials showing €1.9 billion in cash that simply didn’t exist.

Luckin Coffee (2020): EY missed $300 million in fake revenue.

CPA Ethics Exam Scandal (2022): EY got caught cheating on internal ethics exams—and then lied to the SEC about it. They were fined $100 million.

Brooge Energy (2024): Investors filed a lawsuit alleging EY missed—or ignored—blatant revenue inflation of 30% to 80%.

Italy (2024): EY Italy offices were raided for alleged bid rigging on EU contracts.

Shorts:

- I have zero problems relating to my younger Gen Z colleagues. Just have to speak their language. Like when one of the young women do well on an assignment, I’ll just give them a “Yaaaaas queen!” If its a young man, “that was some king shit right there, Jackson.” If I see anyone stressing- “Don’t go crashing out on me, fam.” I’ll randomly work Olivia Rodrigo references into conversations. I’ve even claimed to identify as Gen Z. They f’ing love me.

- When are they going to drop adult light-up shoes?

- Few things I enjoy more than a good redraft article - the further back the better.

- The Rob Ford documentary on Netflix is the funniest thing I’ve seen in awhile- was howling. Marcus welby a Chris Farley movie.

- F it- I’m in on the Bruce Springsteen movie starring Lip/The Bear.

- One thing I’ve always prided myself on since being like 7 years old is taking the MLB All-Star voting seriously. No homer shit from me. You’ve got to earn your spot.

As much as you think it's a flex that E&Y has made some mistakes over the course of tens of thousands of engagements, they are still used for companies like General Motors, State Street, HP, Coca-Cola, and Hilton. And when they do an audit of a basketball lottery, they have strict protocols in terms of how they do the selection and validate a fair selection. They record and validate the steps that are taken to prove it's fair. But sure, because Luckin Coffee missed some revenue due to a mistake by EY, they're bums.

You clearly missed the real point, which doesn’t surprise me at all, and that is in ALL of the huge 9 figure “mistakes” that don’t mean a damn thing to you it was all in the favor of the paying client.

Take a damn guess as to who pays them to audit the NBA Lottery.

Basically they give their clients what their clients want only in this event it isn’t like lying to the damn SEC to cover up their unethical way of doing business.

To be willing to do that but not turn a blind eye to give the NBA an outcome they desire, you are clearly right they are too above that.🙄

Luka also costs $215M.

Bout got myself kicked out of a peewee game last night. My fit and hat toss did get the call overturned, so the embarrassment was worth it I suppose. Game ended on the next play with the tying run on third, and our three-season run came to a close. Awesome kids. Pretty sure every one of them was crying. May have gotten a little misty myself. We all hung around chatting and tossing a football, not wanting it to end I guess, until the park staff turned the lights out on us. My kid held it together until he got to the car, then the floodgates opened. Shew.

That summer practice video was such a tease. Gonna need those daily, por favor. After getting a look at Kam Williams in blue, I get the feeling he is going to be a straight up stud. Just looks the part. Ath-a-lete.

I really wish I could muster some excitement about football. Tank is empty. Hoping Piglet has at least put together a tough group of guys that is fun to root for. Just getting bowl eligible will be a minor miracle against this schedule. Will probably require two wins over ranked teams and no losses to unranked teams.

Maybe the Reds will stay alive until basketball. Or at least stay interesting into September.

You are full of shit and uninformed. Have NEVER been a "used car salesman". Once again, FKN clueless. Finance director, not salesman. But even that, I have been out of the car business for over 4 years. Still a finance director, just not in the car business. Curious as to WTF YOU do for a living ????? Care to share ? If you are not ashamed of your profession, list it Triangle GAF.

Coming from a guy who post so much bullshit and believes EVERY conspiracy theory idiots like you can drum up, I will take that as a compliment. "Luca and Lebron the two most marketable players in the NBA", you mean the same Lebron who is set to retire next year ? HTF do you market a over 40, soon to retire Lebron ? Have him do meet and greets ? Promote his son ? 5 years ago that might hold water, but a year before retiring, I don't see how much marketing they can do with Lebron.

Oh, and that 1st round playoff exit and a roster with more holes than swiss cheese is definitely marketable. No, it is the GD LA Lakers, the team with the largest home tv market in the NBA, the Lakers are the Lakers. Now, the knew owner will not F around, he will come in, make wholesale changes in the front office, make player moves, reboot, just like he did with the Dodgers when he bought them. Buying the Lakers for him, had nothing to do with GD Luka and Lebron. He will build for the FUTURE, Lebron will not be part of that, who knows where Luka will be 5/7 years from now.

-Would like to see Llama's Don't Call it a Comeback Tour at some point but seems like every time he takes the mic, I can't make it. Schedule better Todd.

-Was strolling through the guide on tv last night and saw that TMC...the channel that shows old, old movies, typically black and white...was playing Krush Groove. I thought to myself, that can't be right, that movie was made in the 80's. Then it hit me, Father Time is undefeated.

Remember seeing that on the shelf at the local Minit Mart nearly 40 years ago and thinking that has to be an awful movie. Glad I could watch the last 30 minutes or so and get the long awaited confirmation that it was indeed awful.

-Met the guy that coined the phrase "scissoring." Went on to a Little League baseball HOF management career IIRC. Good guy IMO.

-Have probably sent in 100 texts to KSR and not one has ever been read. Guess that speaks more to my lack of talent than any perceived sleight. I personally thought "who would be on the Mt. Rushmore of people who have tried to fire/cancel Matt Jones" to be an excellent Ask Anything Wednesday question. Jurich, Cal and Mitch (McConnell, not Barnhart) seem like guaranteed choices.

-I'm not one to speak but don't recall seeing a Wildcat Willy post in forever. Could probably be explained by the rampant anti-semitism present in this thread.

-Just about full swing into tv watching season. Last season of both White Lotus and The Bear are right there for the taking, yet, I am still committed to finishing my The Office re-watch. Controversial take: While it did hurt the show when Steve Carell left, it would have been just as much of a blow, maybe worse, if Rainn Wilson had ever departed. I'll let Wayne and Krazy debate this one.

Mentioned several times in here. Land development investor and engineering. Sold multiple companies.

As a fellow finance director, I’ll recommend you to the NBA for employment. Unless you have a recent arrest or something.

Never even had a speeding ticket playa. I appreciate the recommendation. We truly are "like family" here. If ever there is anything I return the favor for, just holla at Ole CatsfanBGKY, I will do what I can.

What about EY don’t I know?

How is spouting off the same as showing you proof they aren’t the most credible measure of trust as you presented?

Not only did they do some corrupt stuff, they lied to the SEC about it too.

What else do you need to know about them that would tell you there is no chance they would turn a blind eye?

  1. The PCOAB requires yearly training. A lot of it is stuff you already know. The scandal was that some of the people marked themselves completing it which is VERY bad. In fact, and you can look this up, EY just fired a bunch of people who they caught taking two on-line trainings at the same time.
  2. More importantly, there is no "turning a blind eye". There are set procedures they follow when doing the audit of a lottery. They have to record each step. They literally are there to prove out that it's fair and use evidence to prove that too.

It’s like you are in a box, and people operate outside that box no matter how hard you try to only perceive it as everyone operates within your box clearly people don’t.

You are probably right though because I am the first person to ever doubt the NBA and their sketchy outcomes, and sketchy is putting it mildly with some of the outcomes they’ve had.

You are not the first one to come up with a lot bullshit theories but that doesn't make them true just because a lot of dumbasses believe the same thing. Take Bigfoot for example. PLEASE tell me you do not believe in Bigfoot. You wouldn't be the first person to, but doesn't make it true. Lots of tinfoil hat wearing crazies (no pun intended) in this world.

We somehow have catsfan and UKO tangentially involved in a seemingly never ending argument between White Wayne and krazy.

Iran and Israel are about to pop off to the point of no return, and now the US, China, and Russia also are all threatening to dip their toes in the matter.

Sounds about right. We had a good run, Earth.

Not involved...just extending a factual courtesy based on my lass being a big wig at one of the other Big 4.

Charley Crockett interview on Rogan - epic. Amazing how talented people emerge from poverty.🇺🇸

On the deck listening to Johnny Winter then ólafur Arnalds… chillin

The NBA is so rigged, they made sure they picked the two worst, small-market teams that no one gives a shit about to reach the Finals.

Vince stole the only Kentucky kid from our cupboard. I mean, eff that wrinkly-headed sharpei Youngstown douchebag.

West Virginia pot stilled, wheated bourbon is pretty pretty good. Who knew?

- What a weekend for summer sports. Game 7 NBA Finals, College World Series, Cubs/Reds/STL all in the mix.

- when we moved last November the major complaint was not having our own pool. 8 months later and 3 weeks at the neighborhood community pool and it’s so much better. 1 hour during the day to get the kids out of the house, and 1 hour at night to wear them out before bed.

No clean up, no up keep, no mess from the neighbor kids, no pool parties……..just actually swimming and going home 2 minutes away.

- My batteries on the electric golf cart are shot. Finding new ones is like finding gold.

Everyone tells me I’ll be out $1000 for all 4 batteries, but no one sells the damn things.

- Down Home is on the comeback. 2 years of bare minimum sells and in the last month I’ve sold 5 barrel picks. Starting to get the fun of it back it my veins which is what I started this thing for.

I’m sure my buddy Willy is ready for some new bottles. A care package is coming good sir.

- I dropped YouTube TV for the summer as $120 a month just seemed stupid. It’s been quite the adjustment but add it to all the other streaming I stopped paying for and I’m saving $200 a month. Down to Prime and Apple TV, but I’ll be dropping Apple too after finishing Neighbors and Friends or whatever.

If there was a local channels stream and ESPN stream I’d honestly not need anything else longer than a month to binge whatever show I want to see.

- I’ve avoided my boat buying urge now for 2 years, but my kids are really past the beginner fishing stage. Going to pay lakes and local ponds isn’t cutting it for ol dad even though they still enjoy it.

I almost pulled the trigger last week but in the time it took to discuss how doing so would affect all my other stuff going on for the distillery and other personal stuff happening the boat sold.

Back to the drawing board. Those Ranger Reata are really perfect for a dad with 4 boys wanting fish and also have some fun.

- Old man use to tell me in my wilder younger days every time I’d mess up or get out of control to relax and enjoy it because I was either livin or dying.

As a 45 year old man I actually get it now.

My last 2 years has been trying as hell, and it’s time to get back to livin!

My wife's nephew started work a while back for Limestone distillery (He's got a degree in chemical engineering and that specialty from UK in distilling) Anyway, the owner flaked out, and hasn't paid him in like 6 weeks. Sounds like it's circling the drain. The bad part is, that he hasn't been up front with employees. kk - you're in the industry. If you know anyone that is looking for someone with his qualifications shoot me a message.
