GYERO

After Popes player identification and development last year my mind is blown with anyone not at least wanting to see how it goes. I don’t really see how you could possibly not trust Popes at the moment. I love that he’s only going to be a junior as well. Also last year might’ve been a classic sophomore slump if you remember that saying from when players actually stayed around for a while

I went over three years IIRC w/o venturing over the Rafters. Never f***ing again.

I went 6 years without HOB myself. Signed back up last year for Pope and his signings, but that place is as bad as Rafters.

I can’t help but feel if we get Alvaro we are a better team next season in a league not as deep or talented, and a chance to start building continuity season to season.

The highlight of my basketball career, was playing in a church league, when I was about 9. I only got in ONE time, and inexplicably had to face off for jump ball.

Ball goes up, and somebody on the other team "pantsed" me. That was it. Nothing but baseball, skateboarding, and weed( not at NINE obviously, but later on) from then on.

Anyone seen him play? I assume he would start at point.
He’ll start and adds a mulch needed dawg to the roster. Adds a rebounding element that will be helpful.

Now get Mgbako and Alvaro and you’re cooking with gas. And still have probably 1-2 more you could take if you want (3 technically).

Had this dude even shown up as a realistic target with any of the “experts” or is our coach just kind of going about his business, regardless of what #BBN4Ever6444882 and the like think?

I would be curious to see this guy’s catch- and-shoot 3-point percentage. Butler and Oweh were very good in that coming in despite a lower overall shooting percentage.

It's not even a "What Have You Done for Me Lately" attitude, that would make sense. But this season, that ended just a week ago, exceeded all rational expectations of being successful.
There is this bizarre mix of entitlement, loving misery, and wanting to say "I Told You So" that shows up there. I have a hard time accepting people who demand excellence and perfection from others but you can tell have never done anything in their own life that ever required strict discipline, sacrifice or hard work

Didn’t really do a lot of catch and shoot as he was forced to create a lot off the dribble.

Great FT shooter and more naturally a better shooter than Butler. Shot 35% from 3 as a freshman. I’ll bet he’ll be above that percentage this year.

How many end of shotclock/desperation misses brought that % down? Sounds like the ball was in his hands A LOT.

I have no way of knowing, but I’d venture to guess he’s a much better shooter than those numbers indicate.
His portal highlight has a bunch of stuff like "31% of shots from elbow 2s. 34% FG%" and other utterly ghastly shot selection indicators.

Looks like a classic good/great scorer with zero conscious on bad team to me. Like his bounce off the dribble and overall athleticism. A little smaller than Demary but seemingly a lot more dynamic.

Be interested in your thoughts after you look at some film.

I can’t say that I’m overwhelmed by “recruiting” so far because I feel like we possibly will be lacking that one or two studs that you need to win big. However, as long as Pope is good with who he is bringing in that is all that matters to me. When it comes right down to it he’s the one that will be judged on the results.
