It wasn't an attention seeking take. We all know it happened and that there was tremendous fallout from it, so I really don't understand the animosity for simply referencing that. Very strange. And it was important and relevant to my larger point that all those that lost interest over time are back. And it does feel good to be back.

Had that team been 27-3 they could have healed every media timeout for all I care.

Regarding the points made about how NIL and the transfer rules have hurt the smaller teams... yes, that's true. But I think we're just returning to a time like the height of college basketball (the 90's) when the big teams were dominating the tournament. And that's good for the game.

For example, in the 90's no team lower than a 6 advanced to the Final Four. Of the 40 teams that made it to the FF, here is the breakdown of seeds.

1 - 18
2 - 8
3 - 5
4 - 7
5 - 1
6 - 1

In the 00's, 17 one seeds still made the FF. But you also had 8 teams that were a 7 seed or higher (including us) who made it.

I like a first round upset as much as the next guy, but I want to get as close to chalk for the Sweet 16.

It sure is nice to watch the remaining games of the weekend knowing we have more games to play.

Not to wax poetic, but it is truly remarkable; the depth of appreciation that you feel, when you get something back, that you've been deprived of for a long time. Something that you used to take for granted.

It's humbling, in the best way possible.

My biggest basketball-related dream is to get back to the days where the first three rounds (and maybe even the 4th) were basically an exhibition. Like we'd play a 16-seed and then some combination of Wake Forest, Florida State and Utah and just beat the ever living piss out of them year after year after year. Man... 13-18 year old Wayne Dougan never knew how good he had it.

I think getting to the S16 in today’s game is almost the equivalent of getting to the E8 (and maybe even F4) of 30 years ago. A lot more better teams as the talent gets distributed across many teams instead of the top 8 getting it all, analytics has allowed the lesser teams to have a better shot, and more universities care about bball now.

The first 2 rounds used to be “cake” and now, even the 1 seeds can have TOUGH second round games.

This might be the most action Rock Oliver and Mitch Barnhart have each gotten in a while. 😆

Meanwhile, even in defeat, Rick Pitino is still making Tom Jurich proud.

Pretty much
Most overrated conference in history and this will come to fruition in the dance. "Beating each other up" does not equal "greatness"....it means parity. You have 2-3 very good teams, and then the drop to the next tier of 5-7 "average to good" crop. Inflated rankings and seeds to come.
Sweet 16 teams:
SEC - 7
Big 10 - 4
Big 12 - 4
ACC - 1

It is impressive that the SEC will have 7 teams in the Sweet 16, BUT the SEC can also eat shit.

In the middle of the Ole Miss game the other day, I'm cheering for them, and it hit me; why am I doing this? Those long-banged douchebags would never reciprocate. So yea, F*** them indeed. It's really no different than that "It's good for the state" bullshit.

Like when the mayor of Louisville called in to KSR and tried making a case to pull for both UofL and UK. Yeah, no.

-House money at this point in year one. HOWEVER, might as well keep making noise. If we're gonna play defense like that... OK.

-There's really no substitute for the Monday feeling after advancing in the tourney.

-UK vs UH winner gets to pick a new logo. Loser stuck with that canned Word Art interlocking bullshit for the next 150 years.

-Feels like this weekend was a nice bit of closure for UK/Cal. JMO.

-Garrison is becoming a star. Kentucky Coal trucks for both he and Oweh.

-Nice to see the old LaMont Butler. Man, it has to be exhausting playing that dude. The euro kid was flustered from the tip.

-We put the nail in the SEC a little too early? Adding Miller to Texas. Gonna be a grind every season.

-Only Duke left for the Title Rivals.

He's got some of that old school UK center game from the Tubby years. I love a seal-your-opponent-off-and-drop-step for an easy bucket on the block from a clean cut center.

That is a sight to behold. However, maybe someone should tell him that he is so wide open for 3’s from the top of the key for a reason. He frustrates the hell out of me one minute then makes a great play the next.

As much as it creates heart palpitations, that shot (on occasion) is important for our offense. He makes them at a better clip than you'd think, too (30% on 40 attempts this year).

14 points (make your f'ng layups!), 10 boards, 6 assists, and 3 blocks sounds even better!!!!

1. Live in the present.
2. Survive and advance one game at a time.
3. Don't worry about the success or failures of others.

Have a good time in Indy to those that are going. I will be attending the high school sweet 16 starting on Wednesday. I know a guy who has set us up in a nice little crib across from RUPP/next to Tony's.

11th ranked defense in the country since the Ole Miss debacle. That's a stretch of 13 games. Of those 13 teams, 11 are/were in the tourney, 6 are at least receiving AP votes, and 4 are in the top 7 of the AP poll.

Our defense got rocket scienced-up.

Brea's development has been huge. He came here as purely a shooter, now plays D, makes great cuts, can take his man off the dribble on occasion, get to the bucket, and hit mid range jumpers.

Isaac McKneely is in the portal with a Do Not Contact tag.

*fingers crossed*
Mags said on the Illinois pregame show to be on the lookout for Holy Cross guard Max Green who just entered the portal. He is a 6'6 guard who will be a sophomore next year and looks like baby Richie Saunders. Wouldn't shock me to see us pick him up soon. He's from Kentucky, too.

  • Max Green has a much better mix tape than that dude who just made a bunch of layups.
  • Need to pay Oweh his money. Dude is crucial and won't be an NBA player if he doesn't get his 3pt game in order.
  • Biggest need - PG

Chandler becoming the Shep/Mills sniper specialist. Me likey.

Also, if there’s a foul on Amari… and goes to TV timeout, you can bet he barely grazes the front of the rim on the FTs. It’s so damn predictable.

Pope did a masterful job brining Chandler along.

Guy didn’t pick up a basketball for two years basically. All that muscle memory was gone. He just needed time.

His highlight reel from HS showed some definite quick twitch/killer vibes. Several people on here commented on it. He can be WAY more than a whitey spot up corner sniper.

I talked to Max Greens dad at a high level fifth grade girls basketball tournament in Louisville. He was not a fan of jasper johnson
Said his son out played Jasper every time they faced each other and he was not happy that he was going to Kentucky. Probably (hopefully) doesnt mean much. I think his son could really benefit being on the floor with someone as athletic at the guard position as JJ
