I also prefer my metaphors to be a little less straightforward, but it is the Super Bowl. And that’s just not who he seems to want to be, and he’s successful enough that he doesn’t need to be.

Or to put it more succinctly: right time, wrong guy (not an endorsement). Just saying that’s what they were signing up for by selecting him.

Figured the tickets out. Feels like I’m set back to my time living on High St only 2 blocks from Rupp walking down to watch those Tony Harris/Ron Slay/Vincent Yarborough UT teams I hated.

This is my #1 rival dating back to Allan Houston and some crazy drama filled game back as a kid during an era where we couldn’t win at Thompson-Boling and one game in particular came down to the intentional missed FT for tip out and last second shot.

I can’t remember everything exactly but those Allan Houston years I grew to hate those orange assholes more so than UL, Duke, UNC or any other school.

Pretty damn excited for this one!

I always remember this game every time someone says foul when up 3.

When I play my son in the drive way I love to call him out on going across the line early on a FT. Pisses him off to no end but rules are rules.

- That was for sure the nail in their Tournament hopes, right?

I really wonder how RJ Davis feels staying there for this mess because he deserves better in his last season!

- I got no read on this game tonight because Vegas played this different than usual as a home ranked team typically is favored when they expect that home team to win. However that type of line isn’t covering per usual percentages.

That said it’s well known we have been struggling, and may be without a key player and somehow UT is only a 1 point favorite feels like Vegas has a trap set, and of course it has been bet up to -3 already.

I love home teams as a small favorite and/or as a very small underdog.

- I hope Robinson could play some if for nothing else to spare Butler 10-15 minutes. That time without Butler and Robinson will be crucial and if Butler gets in foul trouble we could be in trouble.

- Glad Pope was asked about the Williams/Garrison combo because teams can’t get anything inside when both are playing.

* I'm speaking it into existence. Today is going to be the perfect day.

Productive morning, business networking lunch, then I'm getting in an early afternoon run. By 3:30 I'll be at the gym throwing some weights and listening to the pre-game show, topped off with a nice steam and shower. By 5 o'clock, the dogs will get their walk, and I'll have my ass parked on the couch reading CatPaw and waiting for the game to start. It's a pizza night, and I pray I get to watch the game in peace and quiet while the lass entertains herself in the other room watching TikTok reels or whatever. The Cats come out firing and complete the regular season sweep of the Vols.

Prayers requested. I need this.

* Santa's sleigh........bring the gifts.

* So are bellbottoms back? K-Dot, that sure was a look.

* Our next two games are at Texas, and Vanderbilt at home. I don't care if we have to take a short term loss for a long term gain -- but I'd seriously consider benching Kerr, Butler, Jax and Carr if needed. That's 2 full weeks to get healthy. Right now, it's like we're getting them about half-assed in fits and starts. As long as this team makes the Big Dance, we can beat anyone, anytime, anywhere. If you gotta sacrifice right now for the big picture, then let's do it.

* Anthony Mackie (of Papa Doc fame) checked into his hotel this weekend under the alias "Rod Tidwell."

* Kill Tony had a bucket pull last night was from Kentucky, and he bombed as hard as is even possible to bomb. Both the stand up and and the interview, almost all of which was talking about Kentucky. He truly brought great shame to the Commonwealth.

* Friendly reminder: NEVER overestimate or fear a Rick Barnes coached team.

Cats by 4.

It would hurt if Jax missed tonight, but that reveals the beauty of how Pope has constructed and developed this team. Jax is out, so start Brea and Noah fills his role off the bench. Pope gave Noah and Chandler an equal opportunity to fill that next in the rotation role and Noah won out. Now he's ready to go.

Pretty sure Jax can't play since he's already listed as out on the injury report.

I've never seen that guy before, but I have done a show with that retired doctor with the speech impediment. He killed at that show, too.

Been watching clips/highlights of old UK tourney games the last couple wks. Stumbled upon the 2001 UK-Southern Cal game the other day. Had completely wiped that game from my memory. Almost a miraculous comeback by the cats, but fell short. Bluthenthal had the game of his life.

Jason Parker should have been a lot better than he turned out being.
