Here, old Caucasians, a summary:

Kendrick and Drake had a rap beef and Kendrick escalated it with a song calling Drake a pedophile. Loooong history of rumors about Drake being into underage girls. Drake and Serena used to date.

Also, the halftime show is not meant for you if you're white and north of 40. Why people don't realize this, I don't know.

-Love Kendrick but that Halftime show wasn't meant for the Super Bowl. It was terrible. Whoever produced it should have ICE called on them. Big miss. Also, saying it's not for 40yo whites is incorrect. Kendrick is one of the only direct links left to 90s Hip Hop. Could've been great but instead they gave us whatever the hell that was.

-Hate Philly but nice to see get smacked.

-Not having a handful of gimme games in the SEC is under sold. Just a goddamn grind this year. Has to be mentally taxing AF on these guys not used to the Kentucky Effect. Even USC, while they're 0fer in SEC, isn't THAT bad. They have some solid wins and close games against the big dogs. Don't need the ACC level but 4-5 of the 18 being all but guaranteed wins... would be nice.

-Handle biz the rest of the way and lets see what these guys got.
-Williams is so good. He has his bone headed moments but impacts the game so many ways. Defacto PG. Rim protector. Great defender. Boards. 1 of 2 that can finish at the rim.
-Oweh runs are hilarious. Dude only scores in bunches in small spurts.
-Fairly obvious healthy Carr and Butler are important to our team. Shesh. What a relief. Let's just stay healthy moving forward.
-Trent Noah is gonna have a helluva career here. Kid plays the right way.
-If we can consistently(key word) get that type of effort from Brea, makes us different. His first, "if your shots not falling do something else to help the team" game.

Edited to delete my Kendrick take and just second what Anth said.

Thoroughly enjoyed seeing Patrick Mahomes suck. I don't care about the NFL enough to have a true hatred of any particular player or team, but he just really rubs me the wrong way. His bland dumb arrogance, his mannerisms, his luck, his wife, his voice. All turnoffs.

That claymation Elly commercial triggered my Reds obsession mode, which will last until they win the World Series or are mathematically eliminated. Should be improved across the board if they stay healthy. I believe in Tito and not Pecota.

If the Super Bowl halftime show isn't geared to appeal to middle age white women, who exactly is it supposed to be for?

The NFL is pushing to attract the next generation of fans because they see what is happening with the other major sports and don't want that to happen to them. It's the reason the last rock band to play will likely be The Who, unless some kind of rock phenomenon happens soon.

The choice to put an already eclectic rapper who doesn't have at least a handful of recognizable songs was a misfire and a meager attempt to appeal to younger Americans.

Kendrick needed some more supporting acts and likely a bigger named pop star but opted for SZA because she's drakes ex. The whole production was pretty awful, imo.

I'm more pissed that a bunch of people are blaming Kenny for a bad performance because they wanted pink or Kelly Clarkson or juvenile or Lil Wayne instead. I get that those artists appeal the a wider audience much better (I still think it should be Bruno Mars / Silk Sonic each year with rotating pop artist) but to act like Kendrick is some no name scrub because you've never hear of him is ignorant.

Kendrick is and always will be great, the performance just didn't have much oomph to it. Hell, his collaboration with Imagine Dragons of all bands was much better.

The NFL/Apple tried to tie their wagon to a very popular beef that half it's audience has no clue about.

I don't buy the "NFL is trying to reach the next generation of fans" nonsense considering that two years ago they had a bunch of 50-year old rappers up there.

You think 25 year Olds don't bump Em, 50, Snoop and Dre? Also, Kendrick performed at that show too, and it was great.

I guess that's why thr NFL/Apple has had nothing but pop/hip hop/rap artists since 2011.

Well it landed about as well as a Hannah Gadsby "comedy" special. Maybe intentionally not doing what the bulk of your paying audience wants to see is a shitty business decision but, hey, what do I know, I'm only a 43 year old cracker with some ample disposable income to throw around.

The halftime show requires bangers women can sing along to, not Samuel L. Jackson playing Uncle Sam like Uncle Rufus or whatever.

As someone who doesn't watch the NFL 364 days a year, nothing about last night made me want to watch any more of it, I assure you.

If the NFL wants to appeal to younger people with significantly less disposable income I’m sure the companies paying 8 million for 30 sec clips would love to know about it.

That's an interesting take considering every other ad was for AI. I'm sure they are targeting anyone they can reach but doubt it is going to resonate with people who can't stream an app on their TV.

I'm not saying the performance was great, I'm saying I understand why they tried what they did. It's possible that Kendrick featuring other artists and an actual production would have been infinitely better, but it seems like they were more interested in sticking it to Drake than appealing to anyone other than die hard Kendrick fans.

Also, for better or worse, people are talking about the halftime show because the actual game was absolute garbage.

They might, but my point was that the Dre/ Em / 50 show appealed to 45-year olds (especially women) SIGNIFICANTLY more than the younger crowd - so it appeared to me they were trying to appeal to a lot of people with that show. At my party last night only one adult seemed to care about the show. And the 15 teens in attendance didn't seem to care about it either.

I'm sure someone will come on here and drop all kinds of stats about streaming numbers and Inta followers and s*** like that, but there's no way you can convince me that Kendrick Lamar is even half as mainstream as Snoop/Dre/50/Eminem. Rap is hard enough to translate to a live show like that, but without a bunch of songs that basically everyone knows, then you got an uphill battle on your hands.

Old here. Super Bowl parties have become "leave at halftime" for me. Home in time to watch, if I care to, 2nd half. The only way to do it when you don't care about either team.

Halftime show am definitely not the demographic. Generally, they are not playing live, so save the "what a performance" comments.

How many W's do you think the Cats need to feel safely in? are they at it with their good wins or do they need two more?

Who cares about a crap halftime, how about those cats baby!

First real crushing of a team they SHOULD crush. Guys look healthy enough that while on this 4 game run we could/should get right just before Alabama and Auburn then March.

Noah is starting to look like a FR you just can’t keep off the floor.

Our defense looked good with everyone where they are supposed to be with Butler back. That’s huge, and it isn’t like against Duke and Gonzaga our defense didn’t do its part in our comeback.

Also, and this is pretty damn important IMHO, we have defeated 6 of the Top 8 seeded teams.

You might be a Pope, but you give em hell Mark!!

<---- old caucasian that enjoyed the halftime show.

I thought Kendrick was awesome. Better than I had expected when they first announced he would be doing the show. His GNX album was a huge boost, as he doesn’t really have a ton of mainstream pop-type hits, and that album gave him a little more to work with. He’s huge on TikTok, and the rest of the web for that matter.

Idk who all my fb friends think should do the halftime show? Rock is basically all but dead and has ZERO mainstream appeal. Country could do it with the right group (Morgan wallen/post Malone/Luke Combs/Jelly Roll). But those guys aren’t going to make 55yo honky who likes RUSH and Alice In Chains happy, so I guess get over it??

Ok the boys wanna test my 4wheel drive and finally hit a UK game with me. Trying to buy 5 tickets but Ticketmaster won’t allow me to buy more than 4 in a group.

Any advice where to buy 5 together would be appreciated.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game but only because the Chiefs got obliterated. Had I not had a strong hater's interest, it would be have been pretty bad. Kendrick is fine, not my favorite, but an entire stadium dunking on drake was entertaining. TBH I haven't loved a Kendrick track since "King Kunta," and nothing beats "m.A.A.d city" for me.

Only commercial I really remember was Goggins Goggles. Boyd Crowder should do every commercial.

Just re-air the Prince one every year

- Am I crazy to think more people would recognize Drake's hits as opposed to Kendrick's? Therefore, for Kendrick to turn around and blast Drake as the main driving theme in his show sorta seems ironic to me.

I'm a 48 year old white dad that recognized maybe 2-3 songs/jingles. Kendrick seems very insightful and artsy and that's how the show came across. I'm sure there was a deeper, social message beyond the Drake slander, but it was over my head. Just when I thought I understood, Samuel Jackson came on screen and screamed at me which scattered my thoughts.

- The Eagles were the most physically dominate team in the entire league. They just beat the shit out of people.

- Mahomes looked gun-shy and shook. A couple of clips out there suggest he hit his head on the turf during the first drive. Could've been slightly concussed, or scared for his life. Or both!

What a huge f'n game tomorrow night!

It's probably not a must win in terms of the rest of the season. We'll have plenty of chances to make up ground. But it's definitely a must win in terms of my spiritual, cosmic connection to Kentucky Basketball. I believe a win like this could align the stars that shine the path so Pope can see the road to the Final 4.

Call me crazy, idgaf. We're all crazy when it comes to this little thing of ours.

A win tomorrow and I don’t see how we are worse than a 4 seed. To note though, since there are no strong teams out west this year, the last 2 four seeds are gonna get shipped to Seattle. Could be playing our first 2 rounds out there.

You kind of hit the nail on the head. Drake makes club songs and tried to diss KL about that when Kendrick has spent more time on cultivating rap "culture" and broader black culture as a whole. Two of his biggest hits were played last night "Be Humble" and "Not Like Us' and it's no coincidence they are some of the most commercial songs he has.

It was just a stupid decision to have Samuel L. Jackson as bizarro Uncle Sam, no real supporting artists (which is almost a rap/hip hop requirement) and nearly 0 spectacle in regard to performance. The only prop were some light poles and the GNX he references in his latest album.

It was a bland performance even if executed perfectly.

You know what was a good halftime show? Usher last year, Rhianna the year before, Enimem and Dre the year before that etc. You know, popular people with mainstream songs for one of the biggest tv spectacles for the most vanilla mainstream sports league in the world. I know the superbowl and NFL in general is supposed to be geared to really niche, young, urban, broke, specific music tastes but maybe someone with more than a couple of hits would’ve made sense. Again, I say this, taking into account that we all know the NFL is not targeted to people over 40 or white. I mean, do white older people in middle America even watch football? It’s such a young, niche sport. Do white people even live in Kansas City?

- North of 40 and white, but I really liked it. Disclaimer: I think Kendrick is the most talented and interesting artist making commercial music today. It was unusually devoid of spectacle, but he was never going to do the kind of bombastic performance people are used to with these things. As to whether it was a good choice for the Super Bowl, I have no opinion. But, me personally, I enjoyed it much more than somebody performing a medley of their top 40 hits with a bunch of pyrotechnic drones or whatever.

- Big test tomorrow. Tennessee has the #1 defensive efficiency and has been the best team overall in the country since we played them. One thing is for sure: they’re not going to shoot 45 threes again. Hopefully our defensive rotations can sustain entire possessions. Thought Brea was great on that end Saturday with his timely digs - you also saw Williams gamble a lot more (though I don’t think a single one paid off), so clearly we have changed some of our concepts.
