Here’s why I hate this conference:

The #1 team in the country - and probably the future overall #1 in the tourney - is on the road in Baton Rouge tonight. You would think the Maravich Center would be raucous and foaming at the mouth. Nope. Just another ho hum, sit-on-our-hands midweek game to pass the time until the spring game.

If it was UK rolling into town, it would be free t-shirt/first 500 students get unlimited titty beads for Mardi Gras. Place would be be unhinged.

It’s the price to pay for greatness, but f that. And f this conference.

There have been many years where UK football was a way to pass the time until Midnight Madnesss, so I am extending some grace to LSU.

I think it was the pre and post game shows. I had no doubt Cal fumed about the idea that Jones was criticizing him before and after each game on stations like WLAP and WHAS.

Imagine an alternate reality where, not only does Cal's washed and fat ass remain as UK coach this season, but it is also announced that Welch has left the program to be replaced by Brad and Matt Jones was removed from the pre and post game shows per Cal's demands?

That's why I don't get worked up by any losses this season. No matter how bad it gets this season or even how disappointing Pope might turn out to be while at UK, the alternative was absolutely horrendous. It's the type of catastrophic mess that can lead to an ugliness that would stain the program and it's reputation for many years.
...and we handed that shitshow off to Arkansas to experience. And it didn't cost us one red cent.
The schadenfreude brings me happiness. But our immediate success without him? That brings me euphoria.

I mean I won't be at game, but the fact he left somewhat voluntarily was a massive win. Don't think I'd boo him but he deserves whatever he gets. Parrish saying he didn't want to leave is a stone cold lie though. He was plotting exit strategies.

Also, eat shit Wisconsin

That may be true but I’m guessing that Arkansas was way down on his list of places he thought he would go. Serves the corksoaker right if you ask me.

The struggle was real. Prior to the bottom line you had to wait on the newspaper the next day, if it was an early enough game. Or I remember in 94ish there was a # in Lex that you could call and it would go through all the scores, they prob updated it every couple hrs.

That bottom scroll was a game changer in the GAMBOL world. Did a little book my SR year and I had to watch that thing all night. And if you missed it, dont worry, that score will be back around again in 20.

Well now ESPN sends me BREAKING NEWS updates about Brittney Griner signing and apparently the largest WNBA trade in it's history. Nothing on the signing of a new coach by my designated favorite football team, hot stove baseball updates (there have been several) or even updates about the thing I lookup the most on ESPN (Kentucky Basketball).

As Bill Burr said, target the women, I have no interest.

I don't think the man was plotting "exit strategies" at all. I think he was a delusional narcissist
who was convinced he was doing a great job and at some point he could hand it off to Brad like it was a family business. He was never really looking for a way out but at what else he could squeeze out of UK. The only leverage he had was that god awful contract.

The more I look at his behavior and words over the years, the more I see someone mentally ill. It went way beyond tone deaf. I think he wrapped himself up in a messianic complex of "helping families" at "Cal U" because he was failing at other parts of the job and that anyone who disagreed with him weren't critics but enemies and convinced himself they were a fringe and not the majority. It never occurred to him that UK would call him on breach of contract dealing with Arkansas.

Yeah I have noticed that Pope often misuses analytical terms when he talks about them - this is probably aPM or maybe BPM, not leverage. I think earlier in the season he was talking about plus/minus or rebounding rate or something and it seemed like he didn’t really know what it meant.

But who cares - just keep running good stuff and win basketball games. At least he’s aware this stuff exists and can be helpful.
