U of L once had a coach who had previously coached at UK. The coach had to come back to Rupp several times.

Mags has claimed one of the last things Cal did (pre-Arkansas talks, I think) was make a call to try to get him fired/ take off the radio. Not sure if he's given any more details other than that.
I’m coming into Rupp and going to try and sit near the Arkansas bench. . We all have suffered watching that moron try to draw up a play, scream the entire game at players or refs and essentially ruin our program in the short term. It will be nice seeing him try to handle that viper pit.

Tried to make a demand with UK Athletics that Matt be taken off all UK connected shows as a term of him returning as he was in the process of trying to use the Arkansas job as leverage to come back. Also wanted Brad as an assistant despite UK having a pretty strick no-nepotism policy, more NIL, etc.
That is a man who clearly didn’t understand the position he was in.
- Glad it's not GameDay. Would feed right into Cal's motivational strategy. No need to give him any extra ammo. No need for any additional circus to roll into town. Prep like a regular game. Let the crowd take care of the rest. Let DJ go 4-15 with five turnovers and two assists. Johnell can't beat you by himself, because he hasn't beaten anybody else by himself.

JFC I don't understand the never-ending conversation (not on this thread, but amongst the fanbase as a whole) about whether we'll boo or cheer for Cal. Who gives a shit? Do what you want, but some people act like they'd be more upset if the crowd does the opposite of what they want than if we lost the game.
Good point; then it was probably more of a situation where Mitch was trying to prevent him from making his weak staff any weaker.

Not it for me. It is what I feel like will be the emotions and big game feel. Nothing to do with Pitino, just UL/UK rivalry in general. Definitely not like your typical Arkansas / UK game yearly. This one has extra juice and drama. I think it will be as intense as a UL/UK game.
I tell my kids that Indiana used to be good, and they accuse me of cap. Hard to argue with them tbh.

-During timeouts he doesn't confer with his coaches
-Aside from all the "Goooo" yelling, he'll just point the obvious direction to go in transition
-Incessant crying with officials whether the call is consequential or not
-Micromanaging possessions on both ends yelling at everyone constantly where to go
-The constant bad body language he displays when something bad happens, he'll turn to his assistants and no doubt a lot of times make smart ass remarks about the players or what they just did or just shake his head. It's no wonder he saps every ounce of confidence from his teams.
-Season long (including tournament games) substitution patterns that are more based on taking someone out for mistakes instead of rotational based. Another confidence reducing pattern he has where players are constantly looking over their shoulders.
I'd venture to guess his practices are miserable with how he constantly he probably stops to hear himself talk too.

Looking at first/second round sites vs the NET rankings. Almost guaranteed to be either in Cleveland, Milwaukee, or Providence.

That only leaves Denver (slight chance) and Seattle (will go to Gonzaga and the worst 4 seed, most likely not us).

What UK connected shows is he a part of? KSR hasn't been a part of anything official in years, have they? I thought the whole reason why he's had so many spats in the past with UKAA and JMI is because KSR and KSBar are not official partners.
He didn't get too specific with it; I guess they could have tried to get him pulled of WLAP altogether or WLAP before and after UK games?
I think it was the pre and post game shows. I had no doubt Cal fumed about the idea that Jones was criticizing him before and after each game on stations like WLAP and WHAS.
Imagine an alternate reality where, not only does Cal's washed and fat ass remain as UK coach this season, but it is also announced that Welch has left the program to be replaced by Brad and Matt Jones was removed from the pre and post game shows per Cal's demands?
That's why I don't get worked up by any losses this season. No matter how bad it gets this season or even how disappointing Pope might turn out to be while at UK, the alternative was absolutely horrendous. It's the type of catastrophic mess that can lead to an ugliness that would stain the program and it's reputation for many years.
That kid went to UNC because they cut the biggest check. He’s about as invested in playing for them as I am.
