Ryan Lemond appeals to some people.

That should terrify you.
Not gonna lie -- while I find Lemond's dumb guy schtick insufferable, when he lets that drop and reveals a little bit of himself, I really enjoy him. I was legitimately impressed by his moral insight when he said that if he were president he couldn't pardon anyone who had physically harmed someone. Knowing that he has a son who could use a pardon under those circumstances, that showed good character. As does not being too proud to door dash to pay some bills.

* What does Pope do with Lamont out? Try to play Jaxson at PG for 30 min? Give Perry the starters minutes and let Zakai Zeigler abuse him for 32 minutes? The options are pretty ghastly and yet these are somehow the games where Pope has pulled something out of his Mormon rear end thus far.

Under these circumstances, Zakai Zeigler terrifies me.

* On paper this SEC schedule looked brutal. That didn't do justice to what it is like watching these guys go through it. Every single night is a war. Hopefully this pays dividends come tourney time when we play non-SEC teams -- if we have any players left.

I hope this is not the norm every year. Even the 1996 and 2015 squads would be dropping multiple games on the road in the SEC this year.

* Saturday may be the longest day of the year with Arkansas game tipping at 9 pm.

Carr has essentially been "out" for a month+. Early on when we were humming, it was pretty clear he was the straw offensively - he just does everything pretty well, great decision maker, willing (too willing?) passer, spacer, big moment/clutch guy.

We haven't been the same since he started really having issues, he gave it his all vs A&M but was basically unplayable...and was clearly laboring in several before that. Same for Butler, of late - he looked like he was on drugs vs Vandy and had no confidence to finish plays or really do anything. Just completely out of character with how he plays.

And yes, Kerr's injury was always a big deal -- i never understood how so many people couldn't see that from the outset.

Bottom line, is you take 3 of the top 7 guys off any team, including your two most valuable, you're gonna be in rough shape -- and we are. The most important thing is for us to get somewhat healthy, b/c until we are, it's gonna look like it has or worse. It really sucks ass.

Having Butler out there late in the Vandy game is what lost the game. Take away his 2 mind boggling turnovers late I think we get the win.

Silver lining post: We have the most quality wins of any team in the country and a decent seed is all but guaranteed, a loss at UT even fully healthy was probable and won’t ding us much, we have a little bit of an easier stretch (for the SEC) coming up, and as long as we can get healthy in the next 4 weeks that gives us plenty of time to get back in a groove and see what happens.

I have an NBA spin on tonight's game. Without Butler, sit Carr tonight. A loss at UT will do nothing to impact our NCAA-T resume. If anything, without 2 starters, it becomes a wash anyway.

Just need to get healthy(ier) down the stretch. 10-8 in the SEC probably locks a 3-seed. If that was offered the day Pope was hired, every single one of us would have lost our everloving minds.

Silver lining is we don't have a coach that doesn't give 2 shits about making the tourney, its an inconvenience to draft prep.

As Kennedy said, we would've taken a 3 Seed without question last April. The early success OOC put expectations too high.

Facts...

I said I would take an NIT season to be done with Cal.
This season is icing on a great tasting cake.

Realistically things you can’t do while Butler/Carr are out.

1- Have Perry and Brea in the same lineup.

2- Stop avoiding playing Garrison with Williams. Honestly think this is a combo we should see more tonight specifically!

3- Do not play Chandler as a guard. If he is in it needs to be in the old school small forward role.

4- Stop playing man defense. Just flat out go 100% zone.

Totally agree on Garrison and Williams. There HAS to be some resistance at getting to the rim. Perry is going to need help lol.

Noah certainly has some shit to his game. Wouldn't mind seeing him pull the trigger more. He seemed a little hesitant to shoot vs Vandy, but it's better than a straight turnover on these awkward possessions.

Just typed out and erased a long take defending Chandler. Whatever, just play hard young fella!

I don’t hate Chandler, but I do hate the ball handling role they put him in. He isn’t comfortable and it’s clear as day.

He isn’t a bad passer though so I can’t get it out of my mind Rod Rhodes pump fake, drive to the lane and kick to the opposite wing or get that 6-8 foot pull up.

Tennessee kinda blows on offense. If we had our full crew I’d feel damn good. As it is we stole a crucial 4 mins with our JV lineup and didn’t give up much of a lead

Perry is fighting out there. He cannot handle the ball today but he's giving us minutes at least.

I like what I'm seeing, although Amari and Brandon might finally give me a heart attack tonight.
