One milestone for me was in mid-December, when (iirc) The Field of 68 guys said, "ok, we have to say - there is no group of people in history that has been as right about something as UK fans were about Cal."
(or words to that effect).
And now, pretty much everyone / everywhere is realizing it.

Following up on this post from last week...
Against Texas A&M, we allowed:
- 42.4% FTA rate (still bad, but better)
- 28.2% offensive rebounding percentage
- 15.9% total points from second chances
- 55.2% 2 point percentage
Against Alabama:
- 50.7% FTA rate (yikes)
- 37.5% offensive rebounding percentage
- 14.7% total points from second chances
- 51.5% 2 point percentage
We really need to figure out a way to keep teams off the line. Don't think we're getting a great whistle or anything, but we do commit a lot of legit fouls too.
Also kinda think a large part of our issues with offensive rebounding comes from allowing way too many 3PAs. We are now up to a 51.6% 3 point attempt rate allowed in conference (32.2 attempts per game!), which is an insane number - would be the 4th-worst percentage allowed of any team in the last 6 seasons. A large part of that is who we've played, and so it should come down a bit, but does feel like we are giving up too many good looks from 3.
Probably some of that is downstream from inability to keep guards out of the paint, etc. This stuff is all interconnected, of course.
I'd be interested to slice that OReb stat based on line-ups. Carr is maybe one of the worst rebounding "bigs" I've seen in quite sometime. When he's in the line-up with Williams, we get absolutely slaughtered on the glass. I'd expect the statistics show that our rebounding is much better with Williams / Garrison / Almonor.
Edit: To wit, Carr is averaging 4 rpg in SEC play in 23.4 mpg. That's atrocious.

Our first shot defense feels like it has been adequate. Those second and even 3rd attempts we give teams are killer. Too many are ball watching instead of looking to block out.

Doesn’t sound good. Sisk saying 90-95% UNC and he’s as dialed in as anyone to both programs.
Pilgrim is saying he wants to be at UK but UNC keeps increasing their NIL offer. They are desperate.
A source on Trilly’s site who’s friends with Dennis quit posting a few months ago and that’s who a lot of people were getting info from.
Maggard/Joe Adams are standing by UK because they think he signed an NIL deal and didn’t give us 30 days notice for the contract that he wasn’t coming here. But take that for what those two are worth.

Should be noted that Carr actually has the 2nd-biggest positive delta on the team (after Robinson) for the whole season, so maybe it's the bad back which is causing this. Brea has been the worst at preventing offensive rebounds for the whole year, and that has gotten worse in SEC play. There is a huge drop-off from Robinson to him.
I suspected that Robinson would rank highly on this and he did. Maybe the key is keeping him on the court and involved in rebounding - thought he was huge against TAMU in that department. And also maybe just playing Almonor more minutes until Carr gets healthy again.
Here are our 3-man lineups sorted by opponent offensive rebounding % (higher numbers are worse, 2nd column are percentiles). This is for in-conference only, minimum 100 possessions:
There's some double counting here, but I think it's fair to say that you see more Carr at the top and more Robinson at the bottom. Oweh could be more committed to the glass, as well.
BTW, as a side note: Williams is the best defensive rebounder in the SEC by percentage, and he's also an above-average offensive rebounder. Some of that is probably because he doesn't have a lot of competition on his own team, but still impressive.

Agree. Too long of a gap in between, and feels like the cfb season is / should be over by now, because we're still used to that.
