I hope Arkansas sucks forever. That video of their fans, threats to use NIL to pay double what UK offers, etc., the dumbfuks didn't do their due diligence in the hire, neither did a lot of the national media, and for that I'm very thankful. Sometimes UK fan can be ridiculous but we've had 15 years to watch him and given our ridiculousness, we know what's working and what's not.
What I know is he can stack the top 1, 2, or 3 recruiting classes for the next 10 years and he's going to fail by any major program's standards. He stopped coaching and being detail oriented a long time ago and with the exception of Tyler Ulis, he has surrounded himself with a confederation of losers. There is a whole litany of reasons why he is failing but it's too long to list and needs to be in a proper form like the UK-UNC test.

We're watching what next year would've looked like if he returned. Just would've been worse because we've played a harder schedule. We wouldn't have the Duke or Gonzaga wins. It would've been a bloodbath.
Seldom do you get an opportunity to prove EXACTLY what would have happened if your coach stayed. For example, there were some people I knew who thought we shouldn't have moved on from Tubby. And when Tubby was kind of average at Minnesota it was easy to say, “well, it’s Minnesota and they don’t have the players or resources so not apples to apples.”

But this is the most apples to apples you can possibly get. He has the same players, the same funding, the same support. My God, it’s as close to running a computer simulation that you can get in the real world. I love it!

It's an alternate time-line. Just can't help but be thankful for the golden parachute. Even if Pope had struggled, the anxiety of that bullshit would've crushed me. Pope being good at his job is just a bonus in all this.

Believe it's SAE that always points out, fans know what's best for their team.

I also think it’s worth noting, that not only would the Arkansas roster be Kentuckys roster, but that it would NOT include Theiro, who is by far their best player. I feel like he was going to stay in the portal to find the best NIL deal and wasn’t going to get it with us. So, if you take that into consideration, Kentucky is probably sitting at 8-10, MAYBE 9-9. We really avoided an absolute tire fire of a season.

My favorite Arkansas fan cope is the "He only had a couple of months to assemble this roster." Hardly anyone wants to admit that a) he stole the roster from us and b) Pope did have to assemble a roster from scratch in months so that really isn't a great excuse for a hall of fame coach anyways.

My favorite Fraud Cal team is the 20-21 team that went 9-16 overall and 8-9 in the SEC. That team only had 5 guys who have played in the NBA (plus a 6th if you count Clarke). Plus all the players dressed like they were trying out for a 2020's black version of The Cure. To not be able to at least go .500 with those guys should have required him to refund his salary.

The big difference is he had some goodwill with UK fans, especially the younger ones. Hence the long leash he had. He doesn’t have that in Fayetteville and they are already tired of his schtick. His comments about having to “teach them to win” and “drag them across the finish line” and the infamous “tweak” are falling upon deaf ears. They are already rueing his contract and the fact they cannot afford to let him go.

My only real satisfaction with any of the Cal situation is that the rest of the sports world now can see why we wanted him gone and that we aren’t in fact lunatics, the BBN does in fact know a thing or two.
He went 9-16, went to the NIT and hadn’t sniffed a SEC title or #1 seed in a long time. UK fans were way more than fair to that sack of 💩.

I think it's fair to ask, how much did THE KENTUCKY EFFECT keep JVC from sucking even worse / being exposed even more, while he was here?

I mean, he took his players and staff and put them in different jerseys and a different gym. We see the result.

Talent over experience, John? With coaching, I agree.

Whenever I think about the last few wasted years, I think maybe they were

Cal’s downturn started immediately after World Wide Wes stopped directing players to us.

There is something that I think Cal never figured, or, more likely, thought the fans were too stupid to recognize, which is this: you can't say "I need to teach them to win" when you aren't building a team over multiple years. It's ONLY win now in college basketball these days - especially with Cal's model.

I know that I was talking about the nation media and general basketball fans. They thought we were irrational for wanting him gone. Now we are being proven right.

Yeah, I thought that Bam-Monk-Fox team was a pretty legit old school Cal team. Turns out you need more than three of the 70 best NBA players to be a FF team.

2017 had two future multi-year all-stars, a perennial starter, and another rotation player (in the NBA), two senior Kentucky kids who were solid players, and a future gun-toting Shanghai Shark. And Isaiah Briscoe.

2018 had a (likely) future NBA MVP, another starter, and five rotation players. Lost to a team whose best player was Xavier Sneed.
