But what is the alternative? The Dolphins paid Tua and the 49ers are going to pay Purdy because they know that those guys, though not perfect, give them a chance. The alternative would be to take a chance on a retread or true unknown and that could be much worse.

That's what I'm wondering. The hard cap is $255M in 2024. Brock Purdy's cap hit is ~$1M. Is Purdy as good as he is because he's got $254M of talent around him as whereas Dak Prescott's only got ~$186M around him? By the way, Tua's cap hit is $9M in 2024, but it jumps to like $50M next year.

My argument is this: If I couldn't find a true to 10 QB I'd probably load up on an o-line and some receivers and find a retread QB on the cheap. If it doesn't work out I wouldn't be on the hook for paying a dude like Tua $50M a year.

I think one of the NFL guys stated last week that GMs were rushing to give mediocre QBs long term, awful money because that's the nature of the game. By the same token, these GMs have taken the genius approach that one average year equates to greatness, see Lawrence, Stroud and Love. But we gotta sign them to a deal!!

Are you saying Stroud is average ? His rookie year in 2023 he passed for 4108 yards (64% completion rate) /23 TD's / 5 INT's. His second year, he passed for 3727 yards (63%) / 23 TD's / 12 INT's / 233 rushing yards. Yesterday he was 22/33 (67%) / 282 yards / 1 TD. Yes his INT's was up this year, but he had SEVERAL injuries to his WR's. He has Nico Collins (he is elite), and a bunch of scrubs to throw to. Tank Dell (10 games played) and Stephon Diggs (8 games played) are out for the year. That is a big loss in WR production and he is still performing with a bunch of also rans at WR.

Peja involves the Chin screener (Jax) popping out for the 3 out of that action that ideally pulls the D down.

Only difference in the two is the read from Jax . First one the defender went over, so Jax dove. 2nd one he got stuck & was left alone vs Amari/Rob

The Chin aspect is simply Butler cutting/clearing off screen after the initial pass to Big that initiates everything

I’d expect A&M to make sure they are more physical with us than MSU was. Have to attempt to draw some fouls to limit that.
