GYERO

Damn good "job" by Kane to place his head on top of thighs, landing on knees, and sell that without injuring him. Never watched wresting after about 87 but that was some very good work.

The reals know.....

I didn’t care about “The Sip” dunking on our UK basketball goal, but goddammit it pissed me off when that little f’ing kid was spraying that smoke machine everywhere after the touchdown.
The smoke machine was a fire extinguisher, and pretty sure the little f'ing kid is Lane's son.

This morning, Twitter reminded me about Lane Kiffin's quote after they beat us in 2020 "We've got to send a Christmas present to their kicker." 😘👌

Once when Brock got sacked, the camera cut to the absolute nerdiest, whitest, scrawny ginger in the stands, in a small Ole Miss polo and crooked wayfarers, who angrily screams that's right white boy! Would make for a real nice GIF.

Speaking of GIFs, Levis is on quite the run. Oof.

Fall weather is knockin' at the door.

Pretty sure it was their basketball goal, they just taped a UK logo on it. Not like they went to Lexington, stole a UK basketball goal, then hauled it all the way to Oxford. All though it would have made for better drama if that happened.

I think it’s clear that Rose was a great hitter. He also admitted to betting on his team and it’s also pretty clear that he had a thing for underage girls but let’s just sweep that under the rug. He agreed to the lifetime ban and that’s what it should be. There absolutely should be some sort of reference in the HOF to his achievement but that is it. He consistently poked at baseball through the years, showing up in Cooperstown to sign autographs on Induction Day to name one. Johnny Bench even said as much in a statement yesterday. In fact If he had played for anyone besides the Reds most of you wouldn’t be gargling his nuts.

While this may all be true, be careful with trusting anything that comes out of Johnny Bench's mouth about Pete Rose. They despised each other and Bench's public comments over the years certainly didn't help his HOF case.

Cousin asks the wife, “can you watch our 3.5 year old for an hour or 2”

Wife, “yes”.

3.5 hours later, waiting for said cousin to come back.

🙄🙄

I don’t care if he had a thing for underage girls as far as the HOF goes. I also don’t care if he poked fun or in he did some things to personally benefit off their ridiculousness.

You can acknowledge him as a player and let him in.

It’s simple and I don’t care if he agreed and 10 days later the Commish passed and they had an agreement(maybe they didn’t).

I also don’t care he was a red or phillie. Much like I respect Jeter, Bonds, Pujols, Brett, Gwynn etc etc that were just hitters and Pete Rose was better than ALL of them so it doesn’t matter who he played for.

Not to revive the pizza discussion but twice a year I’ll get a Totinos party pizza (triple pepp) and treat it as the vehicle for trying out hot sauces/testing acid reflux tolerance.

Did it in college (2002-2006) and it always reminds me how much the hot sauce game has changed.

Valentina would probably be my favorite “everyday hot sauce that is widely available”.

Yellow Bird Serrano is solid and won’t completely rip your asshole asunder like the other spicier ones.

What’s good out there?

Valentina and Valentina Hot are two of my favorites, basically cholula at a fraction of the price. I'm a big fan of El yucatecca Verde too in the Mexican line of hot sauces.

For Cajun I rotate between Crystal, Louisiana Hot Sauce, and Cajun Power Hot. Sometimes I'll mix in some Tabasco too.

Just started my own fermented sauce this morning with some home grown habaneros, carrot, and garlic. Can't wait to try it in a few weeks.

-Rose, like many of the heros of the past, just wasn't a good dude. His on the field accomplishments were great but he just was a very flawed person. Completely understand those that can't separate the two. I probably side with him getting what he deserved even though he was a legend.

-yellow bird makes a whole line of fantastic hot sauces.

-68 and rainy is Chad's favorite weather. Go to heck, loser.

-I dislike the fanbases in our conference with a misplaced sense of accomplishment. They act like they're up there with Bama or Georgia but haven't won a conference title in ages. Hell, mizzou has probably been to more SECCGs in the last 20 years than most of them. The big 3 with this disorder:

Ole Miss
USCar
State

I hate UT but for other reasons, granted they could be lumped in that group. Arkansas seems to understand their place similar to UK fans.

“In 2002, his friends, Mike Schmidt and Joe Morgan, arranged a secret meeting between Rose and Bud Selig, then the commissioner of baseball. The Hit King had to know he would never have a greater opportunity than this one.

Selig spelled out what baseball expected of him if the league was even going to consider adjusting his life sentence. Rose would need to stop gambling — all the gambling. He would need to stop hanging out at all those casinos and racetracks.

And finally, there was this: He would need to hold a press conference — to admit to his “crime,” to admit that yes, he’d bet on baseball, to apologize to everyone he’d betrayed and to promise none of this would ever happen again. They shook hands. And then …

Rose walked out of that meeting and headed directly for an appearance at a sports book in Las Vegas. The commissioner and those around him were furious. Rose’s fate was sealed forever that day. It’s hard to argue it was anyone’s fault except his own.”

Abbreviated Hurricane weekend trip to Cincinnati Snackdown:

Friday night we went to Pepp and Dolores per the GYERO recs of wcc and GPT. T'was awesome. My wife adored. I thought it was very good just not my jam. The ricotta appetizer is the troof, though. We loved.

Saturday night was La Bar a Boeuf. Now this is my absolute jam. It feels like someplace Anthony Bourdain would love. We went around 6 or so and just ate at the bar rather than get gussied up. The views in this place are amazing. I got the cod and it was just simple, perfectly done French bistro cuisine. My favorite cuisine.

(I miss Le Matin in Chevy Chase. Abbas knew what was up.)

We went to the sister restaurant of La Bar a Boeuf in Findlay Market the next morning for brunch. It was solid but we were so over rich foods by that point we probably should have just split something light and got on the road.

The weather made it surreal but it always a nice little treat to just grab an airbnb in a city nearby and spend a random weekend exploring. I forgot how pretty parts of Cincy are. Looking forward to doing that again with better weather.

* Tabasco might be my least favorite hot sauce. Give me Louisiana Gold all day for that style. My dad is a Texas Pete man. He may just like that the bottle has a guy with a sombrero, bullwhip, and gunbelt.

Texas Pete is an all-time logo.

My grandfather’s favorite sport was undoubtedly baseball and the Reds were his team. They were my grandmother’s team. The Big Red Machine were his heroes. Every night the Reds came on she would sit in “her chair” , pour a cocktail, fire up a crispy and watch the Reds. She didn’t really mince words so I’d learn some choice language hanging around their house as a kid in the 80’s and watching games with her.

Every summer my grandfather would take my cousins and I to “ Cincinnata“ for a Reds game on Friday night followed up by a day King’s Island on Saturday. Those were magical weekends. Riverfront, ice cream in a helmet, La Rosa’s, riding The Racer, etc.

In remember that summer in 89 when Rose was banned. UK was hammered in May almost getting the death penalty and then Rose. He was somewhat in disbelief but also emphasized to me how Rose played the game the way it was meant to be played and that’s what mattered. My grandmother handled it differently and referred to Giamatti as a chicken shit bastard. Confusing times as a kid seeing this all time baseball player get caught up in something like that.

- 20 years married today. She's still hot. I got lucky. We have a Tony's in Bowling Green so heading there for an agreeable meal later this evening. Traveling down to the Redneck Riviera on Sunday.

- I was watching last night's debate thinking . . . why couldn't these 2 be our choices for President instead of Vice? It was dull, policy-based, and somewhat civil. Both seemed prepared, poised, and intelligent (Vance is by far the smartest dude/dudette on either ticket). This is the "boring politics" we were hoping for last time I think.

- Top 5 hot sauces for me:
5. Frank's Red Hot - cheap and versatile.
4. Sriracha Chili Sauce - my top choice if it was just a little thinner
3. Old Bay Sauce - great on seafood and meatloaf-type dishes.
2. Tapatio - I prefer this to Valentina but that's just me.
1. Cholula - The GOAT

- I was watching some clips of UK's college kids celebrating Saturday's victory and it made me nostalgic. Also, is Lexington the GRAYest place on earth? Thinking back to my time there it always seemed cloudy or misty.

My daughter has visited there many times and always makes that remark. I guess it makes those beautiful Ky days that much more beautiful we get them.

- About fed up with Will Ferrel singing that weird 80s song for the PayPal commercial. Enough!

- Oklahoma is useless.

- Palestinians and Israelis have nothing on middle-aged women and their teenage daughters. Send lawyers, guns, and money you guys.

My college roommate used to only buy Texas Pete, as it was the official hot sauce of the SEC.
