GYERO

Just talked to the family about going to the game Sunday. Looks like a good day to go, and odds are we get a W.

Tough break against the Reds this season. No shame.

Steele is struggling bad and we need some help offensively which we did last year too so the front office failed.

Can’t continue on as a big market club run like a small market club. We aren’t that good at drafting clearly!

Eh, we're struggling. It happens. Steele is improving. The front office has done a great job, imo. Horton and Shaw were great draft picks. They just aren't ready. We have a stockpile of young talent. We just need to hit.

The Reds and Pirates own us so far. That shit happens too. I'll be going up there tomorrow with my girlfriend. I'll do my best to pull the Cubbies through, get us back on the right track.

Not to state the obvious, but the meltdown in Storrs would be absolutely delicious, (given how cocky and new money that trash fan base has acted over the last couple of years) if Hurley accepts what is being reported as 16 million a year, with 100 million guaranteed, to coach the Lakers.

Are we still doing brake pumping?

The brakes were slammed on in May (one of the worst months ever for a full time Red)
.208 w/ 1 HR and 5 RBI's and 40 K's in 101 AB's.

Oh wait....new brakes didn't work....
.194 so far in June w/ OBP of .242

So yeah....he still sucks at the plate.

Oh, but you want to start using stats from god knows how far back to try and make him resemble a MLB player, right? Have at it.

*he still sucks

"resemble a MLB player"? No, he is in fact a MLB player, as evidenced by playing everyday. Why must you be so opposite on everything that is actually a fact ?

Mickey Mantle led the league in strikeouts 5 of his first 9 seasons.
Nolan Ryan led the league in walks 8 times.
Rickey Henderson led the league in caught stealing 4 consecutive years.
Cy Young has the all time record for losses.

Im not asking a 22 year old, or any other player, to be completely perfect.

I wish Ichiro played in MLB his entire career… and on the east coast. I think he may have been the most intriguing player of my lifetime (besides Mariano Rivera) .

Dumber PR move -- Calipari scheduling Oakland next year at Arkansas (?!?!?!) or USA Hoops (or whatever it is called) taking Brittany Griner over Caitlin Clark for the last spot on the Olympic team?

It’s women’s basketball. Who cares?
A nation of young women seem pretty damn enamored with Caitlin Clark right now. I have no idea the roster makeup of the US Women's Olympic team and whether they need another big or a guard but if it is even close, you put Clark on the team. There's a long tradition going back to Christian Laettner on the Dream Team of having one just out of college player on the squad who might not otherwise be ready. Anthony Davis in 2012 also comes to mind.

And I care about the United States dominating the Olympics and will never apologize about it. Hell, I'll stay up and watch women's curling if we are kicking some commie ass in the Olympics. I don't gamble ever but I might for these Olympics. Seems fun.

Checked. Was admittedly a reactionary post.

I’m just tired of the sport insisting upon itself (not to mention ESPN shoving it down my throat).

If I’m interested and want to watch it...I will.
And rookies coming in anointing themselves as spokesperson for an entire league.

-The Friday before Memorial Day I drove up to my parents to spend the weekend in KY wearing my dope Reds shirt I got for Christmas. I proceeded to get chastised by certain family members for wearing it because they are bad. My retort was: "so they have been mediocre to bad for 90% of my life." I've never been happy about that. I especially have been jealous of my parents who grew up watching the Machine but I'm always a fan.

Btw Reds are 11 and 3 since that trip. You're welcome!

-I keep seeing stuff like "they keep shoving wnba down our throats." Oh you mean they are pushing a product that has never had more eyes on it than it does now trying to get some semblance of money from it? How dare they.

-Lots of people, including many Kentucky fans, are sleeping on this basketball roster. Didn't make Parrish's top 25 and 1 but Arkansas did? Love the pieces and to think Pope basically just pulled the whole thing from his ass.

-Pope's rental car manual transmission post from Argentina made me chuckle. I can't remember the last time I drove one. 1st world problems.

-Wife flew out to Dallas for her dad's 90th birthday party. The original plan was to both go and drive the 11 hours for a short trip with the dogs. The plan changed with a quickness as the weekend drew closer. So I'm home with nothing but dogs doing exactly jack squat. Feels great!

-Having lived in Dallas for 7 years out of college I kind of adopted the Mavs, Rangers and Stars (eff the Cowboys) and went to numerous games over that span. Shew what a 12 months those guys are having.

-I remember going to a Reds/Rangers game in Arlington decked out in Reds gear sitting row 1 behind the right field wall. My best friend, who is from Lexington, and I proceeded to heckle the shit out of Austin Kearns. I doubt he saw me but if he had he probably would have wondered why some Reds fan was giving him grief with very specific Lexington references.

-Go Batcats!

It is not so much this player or that player made the team over Clark, It is the fact 4 Las Vegas players and 3 Phoenix players made it. That is 7 of the 12 spots occupied by just 2 teams. IF there was a player she should have made it over, Taurasi would be my choice. She has won 5 Gold Medals already and is over 40 years old, let some youngblood have some run. Let her play for Argentina, need real Muricans on the roster.
