GYERO

Certain (random) things people say, specifically in GYERO, stick with me. Like anytime I cross a street or parking lot, I think of Chad once mentioning the “fake run” people do with their arms to insinuate they are hurrying across the way. Why do I remember THAT but not things I actually need to know?

I like to think my brain has a junk box compartment that is full of 90s rap lyrics, the most awkward situations I experienced in school and names of complete strangers I'll never meet again (and I'm horrible with names).

My wife, on the other hand, can't remember anything unless she told me to remind her of something and I forget.

It's not a loss but I just don't put a whole lot of weight in a Duke win at Cameron. That Auburn win is ok but not in the same stratosphere as our win over them at a neutral site and a "neutral " site at Gonzaga (which is exactly the same as us calling our old games against Notre Dame in the '70' and 80's at Freedom Hall a neutral site, not a thing neutral about it at all). That win is going to be a seed-maker in March, Duke's Auburn win won't.

I'm not the only one that thinks losing players or coaches from a 4-8 team is not the end of the world.
Or am I?
All I care is that they don't completely flush the roster to the point where that top button wearing son of a bitch AD attempts to spin next season as a "rebuilding year" requiring patience from the fanbase living in a "microwave society".

Two things stand out to me on the CEO assassin:
  1. It would be really hard to murder somebody important on the streets of NYC and not get caught. They're getting close to "Enemy of the State"-type of surveillance. He almost pulled off the perfect crime, which leads me to the second point...
  2. The fact that this goober couldn't not flirt with the chick at the hostel - which likely was his downfall - tells me that you can't let your guard down during an assassination!

We do live in a microwave society, and plenty of coaches have adjusted fine. But if you’re dumb enough to put metal in the microwave, don’t be surprised when your house burns down because you're a fat, lazy moron.

The problem isn’t the talent we are losing, it’s just indicative of the culture within the program. That place is a dumpster fire. Maybe losing these guys will be a net positive, or maybe it’s just more shit piling up in this neglected porta-potty, full of Hardee’s wrappers and sharpie graffiti that says “DONALD TRUMP F*CKED MY WIFE AND I LOVED IT. I CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT THE WAY SHE MAINTAINED EYE CONTACT WITH ME. THANK YOU PRESIDENT TRUMP”. Maybe it’s that

I am only speaking from high school experience here so take it with a grain of salt, but being on a losing football team absolutely sucks. In the games you are usually getting your ass kicked which isn't any fun, and when it gets late in the season the only incentive to bust your ass in practice is getting a spot next year. I assume with the transfer portal, that incentive pretty much goes away.

* I am not a fan of most fruited beers, but KY Bourbon Barrel Tangerine Cream Ale is a delightful surprise, and really very apropos for Christmas. Hints of warm spice and no real fruity taste. As a very old, I grew up getting a tangerine or an orange in the toe of my stocking and this beer is the perfect adult way to honor that memory.

* My family is gathering at my youngest daughter’s place in Chicago for Christmas. I can’t lie, I am kid level excited to spend a rare Christmas in a “big” city. Lots of activities being lined up. Can’t wait. 🤶

* I have been getting more into candles lately than I ever have. The one big thing I miss after my divorce and having to sell my house is my fireplace. Having an array of lit candles in front of me is kind of a nice substitute and comes with the added bonus of all kinds of yummy scents.

* What is it with dogs that they must lay directly in your path all the time? It almost seems impossible how they manage it. Narrow passage between furniture, oh yes, I will lay there. Right in front of the one counter you need access to in the kitchen, ok, that looks like the perfect comfy spot, and yet they somehow teleport to the next space you need to move through in seconds. Of course it may seem a little worse when your dog is a 160 lb Mastiff.

* There is nothing I can receive for Christmas that is going to top the gift that is Mark Pope as our coach and getting our program back. 💙

* Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to all the Wildcat friends who have entertained me and educated me on football & basketball over the last 18 years. Here is to 18 more. Go Cats!
