False.

Not that I’m saying you are wrong in wanting Reed to start over DJ, but DJ has been out 4 of our 8 losses.

Only the USC loss that he missed wasn’t close, so I’d guess had he played maybe we don’t lose the other 3 games.
DJ played the USC game

Ok. 8 out of 8, 4 out of 8. 2 out of 8. Whatever. The starting lineup Cal consistently starts each half with usually has UK behind when the initial subs come in the game. All I am saying is you cannot keep spotting teams the lead in each half until you bring in guys to get you back in it.

In the first 5:40 of the first half and the first 2:20 of the second half we were outscored 23-7. And that has happened many times this season. I don't care what Ravi Moss says, but it does seem to matter who starts.

And hell, DJ and Edwards are starting to grow on me, especially when I see them play tough defense. But the start of halves and falling behind will concern me until the season is over.

Rightfully so, IMHO, but what I don’t get is are they only struggling the first 4 minutes? I know that lineup gets play at other times of the game but it seemingly is only an issue starting halves.

Even if our coach doesn’t watch tape someone on the staff has to see the trend and to throw the cliche “it doesn’t matter who starts” statement back at people then if it doesn’t matter why not TRY SOMETHING ELSE.

Just try it. Maybe it would help DJ/Edwards to come off the bench?

I would love to see that. As I said, those two are growing on me and DJ had the biggest steal of the night last night. Perhaps bringing them in at the 16-15 minute mark might actually help take pressure off them and help them get in the flow of the game better.
But WTF do I know?

Well it's common knowledge that teams come out as hyped up and geared up to play us more than just about any game they play all yr. T shirt hyped games at home adrenaline laced players ready to prove themselves. Whether at Rupp or their court.

That's not something you can expect young players to be ready for early on. But it's why the fat man needs to figure out in season and put your best lineup out there, not your NBA test lineup everygame.

Teams and individuals are going to have some of the best games of the year against us. So you start your best in the first half and start your hottest in the 2nd half. It's almost like kid could do this

Other than the starting lineup issues, I thought last night was the first time all year our rotations really made sense. Cal was running a three guard lineup much of the game and rotating our 4 guards out there, rotating Thiero and Edwards at the 4, and rotating the 7 footers at the 5.

That's *perfect*, imo. When/if Mitchell comes back, let him play a Big Game Bob Horry role off the bench if we need shooting in the frontcourt. Hell, we might not want to mess up the mojo of him being the best bench cheerleader in America. If we make a run in March and he's on the bench miming hitting tee shots, etc he's going to be a TV star.

Our 7 footers all leave something to be desired. Between the 3 of them, one of them should be playable every night. Wouldn't surprise me to see Z regress back to the mean and either Bradshaw or Ugo look better against Arkansas.

These last two games might have been the most pure fun Kentucky basketball has been in a decade.

^ thought we had a great plan last night. We abused Bell in PnR repeatedly and went after Hubbard any time we could get him switched on a faster guard. Overall it was an impressive willingness to exploit matchups. Credit where it’s due.

Another surprising development is Z holding his own pretty well in a physical game. He’s obviously quite creative offensively, but up until the last couple games he was a defensive sieve any time he was put in space. He’s been impressive with navigating multiple actions and providing timely help lately.

Shew, no shit. There's only 1 Rob Dillingham, and his overall creativity with the ball is unmatched in CBB (and not just this season), but Hubbard isn't too far behind as far as being DYNAMIC. Be as close of a replacement as you could possibly have.

He seems a Mississippi kid through and through, unfortunately.

-Everyone in the world thinks Reed should start, but PTI(pti) has used the word benchwarmer across platforms 17x in the last few days. Reed played 35 last night, and is averaging 29 in SEC play. (And much more than that of late). That's 1 minute behind Ziegler, Sears, etc -- if nothing else, at least Cal has realized once he gets in at the 16-17 min mark, he basically rides him the rest of the way. I mean, that's about as good as we're gonna get w/ this stubborn clown.

We'd all like to see more Dilly, but he needs to quit 1.) starting games off horribly and 2.) stop taking himself out of the 1st half entirely w/ 2 early fouls, and then usually gets his 3rd with 15 to play in the 2nd...85% of which are stupid ass shit 30-90 feet from the basket. Last night Cal chose to ride/trust him w/ the early 3rd, so progress there realizing he's pretty damn clutch down the stretch in games w/ his playmaking.

-Z got tossed around like a rag doll, but battled hard and kept coming back for more. For as many buckets as he gives up, he typically =/> that in Blocks. Add in his scoring/finishing/passing, he's just a damn productive player when he's allowed to play through his mistakes -- a shame he's not in better shape. Poor kid was BEGGING to come out last night and the U8 timeout didn't come until 4:54....lol. I was screaming for Cal to call a 30 to get him out of there...luckily it didn't cost us.

I made fun of Z's screens during the game (and they are comically bad) but dude is so long and his ability to finish in traffic from about 8 feet and in as well as a reliable three point shot make him a damn good screen in PnR situations.

KSR mentioned that’s an old video and maybe one of the two is already gone.

Still I hate to see teammates seemingly cheering for someone to get beat. Thats hard to come back from as teammates!

DJ not wanting to give the ball to Reed at the end was peak selfish ball.
You're a f'n moron. If there is one thing DJ hasn't been this year, it's selfish. Some of you nitwits try to create shit to bitch about. DJ has been a GREAT teammate all year, even through his struggles. Oh, and he did give Shep the ball, you stupid son of a bitch.

The DJ hate stops now!

Oh wow, I didn't know that kind of talk was accepted in GYERO over someone's opinion.
Well bub, I have been watching UK basketball probably longer than you have, and I think last night wasn't the first time Wagner seemed to be selfish and trying to improve his draft stock.

SO GO FK YOURSELF.

- I can't remember the last time UK stole one at the buzzer like that. Brandon Knight and Aaron Harrison, I guess? Seems like since then, it's been nothing but opponents getting dagger shots in at the buzzer.

- I dogcussed the hell out of Cal, ending with threats to start eating copious volumes of corn to prepare for gifts on his lawn, roughly .4 seconds before screaming HAHA **** YOU MISSISSIPPI STATE. It had been a minute since I felt that huge swing of hate --> joy and schadenfreude with the Cats. Reed MF Sheppard is the truth. I won't pretend I trust this team, but I do love them like I haven't loved a UK squad in years. Every W is precious at this point.

- re: age gaps, dated a 39 year old when I was 27. In related news, Lover. Stalker. Killer. was the most unsettling true crime documentary I've ever watched, to the point I felt physically sick (but it's fascinating, y'all should watch it). There was a reason 39-year-old ex was in the market for ladies 12 years his junior.

- A few weeks back, we got a new neighbor in across the street. She introduced herself on the neighborhood FB and I thought huh, she looks super familiar and I swear I've heard her name before. Looked at her profile, and sure enough, she and I have a ton of mutual friends. Well, husband and I asked around...

...she dated the aforementioned 39-year-old stalker right before me. I find this absolutely hilarious, although I'm not sure I should introduce myself as her Eskimo sister whenever we meet in person. Both of us have really come up in the world since slumming it with that guy, so I consider it a victory lap, but she (and her now-husband) may not, sooooo...

- Headed to Rupp this Saturday. Cal, please don't screw this up for me. Let Rod and Reed roll.

I don't think so, bub. Your posts indicate that you don't know shit about basketball. Also, your mom is a dirty whore. Everyone knows it.

Ok let’s double down. I have read several things from you in the past and I could say the same thing about you.
But I am impressed you took Cal's Ck out of your mouth long enough to type up these responses.

I’d say that could be true early in the season, deer in the headlights stuff, but it’s late February. That should be over by now. It does appear that Cal has basically decided on who to ride with but for whatever reason he just won’t make a change in regards to who starts. Hopefully when it’s win or go home time that changes.

When Z got pushed down late in the game jostling for position on a rebound he looked to the ref for a call but didn’t get it. If you noticed he threw his hands up then his demeanor completely changed. Went down court and blocked the shot then played more aggressive.
We need that Z all the time.

Richie and I's time with family at Disney overlapped and I recall texting him while we were there about there being "lots of Euro fellas in 90's looking Hilfiger gear... HEAVY on the CK-One and Aqua DiGio cologne."

Sure enough each post game presser thats exactly the look Big Z goes with. What a dude. That awkward calic, shit-eating grin... I've been a huge critic of him on the defensive end- but he brings an element of fun when hes out there. This teams not short on that by any means.

Best message board post ever (and I'm paraphrasing here...)

Hey Wodie Sloot,

What do you want in a man? And I don't mean what do you want in the here and now. I mean someone to spend the rest of your life with.

(and then 3 more paragraphs of ghey rambling).

Damn. If anyone had that one saved, it would be legendary.

I don’t think it’s odd at all for a 39-year-old man to date a 27-year-old woman. Similar maturity levels. Women tend to make that leap around 26. Men tend to around 30-32.

Just my experience from my bachelor days.
that's kinda my point, he had a similar maturity level to dumbass 27-year-old me. age gaps aren't always bad news bears, but...there's reason for concern in many cases.

hermm was terrifying. I assume he's either a white hat hacker or he's leading Anonymous nowadays.

For a coach nicknamed “the Dentist” dude looks like he’s a year recovered from a toothless meth bender.

Unfortunate Jeff and Stacey weren’t as prolific with their progeny as @JRowland. We could’ve been staring at 7-straight years of epic point guard play.

Buying my kid a car in Lexington from NJ is a logistical nightmare… but I’m here for it.

Bonus on Friday. Shall I tell the missus? Hmmmm.

Vandy beating Muss has to be rock bottom. Arky were swinging portal nuts over the summer. Hate to see it.

That is indeed what all euros wear for the most part. They LOVE visiting Miami and ANYTHING that says American things such as Miami in cursive or “Levi’s 401” or very gaudy huge brand lettering from Hilfiger/polo, SUPREME, etc.

The funny part is we think they look ridiculous and vice versa. I can’t stand that huge branding, he’ll I don’t want a logo anywhere unless it’s my friends apparel company.

-Re: the locker room fight: first off those punches were 😂, would’ve preferred the real deal, freestyle straight over the top suplex for the pin personally but that’s just me.

Also, Matt and these guys not knowing players fight in locker rooms annually is funny and yes teammates cheer it on.

As you noticed, once someone got the upper hand they stopped it, pretty typical. They’re not going to let someone get actually hurt.

Everything is a proving ground for huge young 20 year old dudes, nothing to see here.

Also, if you know anything about fights with kids, many times they end up being very good friends after or they were already and still are.
