GYERO ARCHIVE

Shorts:

- My college roommates’ mom passed away last week. Layout and funeral were Friday. She was a great lady and her husband, my grade school basketball coach, had the best UK den I’ve ever been in. She was quite artist and painted an awesome mural which was the first thing you saw when you headed down the steps to den. As you would expect in Kentucky in February, the conversation centered first and foremost around Connie but secondly about the Cats and everyone’s concerns.

- Sure even as we’re dashing into the hospital late Saturday night, wife gushing, I’m carrying all our overnight bags and she asks, “can you grab my water bottle?” So, I now am dragging this stupid 25-lb full Stanley bottle spilling all over me, annoyed knowing I can’t say a damn thing and thinking about GYERO.

- Unlike most here, I don’t hate Bradshaw. I really liked what I saw early for a freshman center. But he’s regresses and is foul prone. I’d have him 4th string at center behind Onyenso, Mitchell and Z.

- I am alway suspicious of biopics. Usually they’re Disneyfied crap. The NWA movie was pure liquid shit.

- Unless it’s a homerun, always reticent about hiring former players. I don’t want any ill will between Mark Pope and me. Joker’s demise and reputation damage still stings.

I don't think ANYONE would be better. I wouldn't be better, for instance. I'd just settle for an upgrade, and I don't think, at this point, that would be hard to accomplish. If nothing else, we could get a coach that isn't a big pvssy that regards the fans with contempt.

Not losing back to back home SEC games, 3 times in 4 years would be nice, regardless of style of play.

Winning more, that would be a pretty cool style of play.

Not only does Beard hit women, he also kept a “charge board” and encouraged getting ran over.

No thanks

The worst pre-requisite for the job is "UK connections". The only time that should be a part of the conversation is if two candidates are completely equal, but one of them has ties, the other doesn't, then go with UK guy. That's been the downfall of a lot of good programs.

Second, didn't Mitch actually hire a headhunting firm to land BCG? We're Kentucky for Christsakes. You're not looking for a hidden gem in a mountain of rocks, you're on a big game hunt looking to bag the biggest trophy in the world. There's a handful of names and the fans know who they are.

Here are some I hope they fully consider but I hope someone helps Mitch because I worry about him doing this on his own.

Oats, Pearl, Miller, Muss, Drew, Lloyd, Sampson, Pope, Wright, Donovan. If he is going to not hire Oats or Pearl for their prior wrongdoings, then I don’t know he
consider Drew can having similar issues (albeit 10 years ago).

UCLA could end up with Lloyd if he wants to stay out West but Arizona is in the midst of a 177 million dollar budget deficit (he’s signed through 27 but his buyout is 6 million if he leaves this year so we have to factor those additional buyouts into the equation).

Pearl’s buyout is 17 million, Oats is 29, Sampson’s 12, Muss’ 11 for example.

Whether we even get there or not is still questionable to me given that the 31 million dollar buyout is a tremendously huge hurdle. And if we try to negotiate a buyout with Cal, his agent will have a field day with Mitch.

Also, if we fire him that may turn off a possible replacement who thinks he was treated unfairly here. This is a very complex situation.

Nobody has faith in Mitch to make the correct hire, he hired a drunk without doing any homework, he had a coach's contract signed on a cocktail napkin and he does contracts that even krazykats would laugh at.
For fock sake fire him already.

Speaking of which, I just ordered a 6-pack of those magnetic slide things for Yeti tops. Holy eff. $10.63 and tomorrow I'm going to feel like a whole new man. My collection is currently batting .000 on those things.

I don’t believe there’s much sympathy out there for Cal from many coaches.

Gen Z is just built different but that is the dumbest shit I have ever seen.

The thing about grabbing the Stanley for the hospital is that it’s a waste. The hospital water cups are THEE best and I’m still not sure why I didn’t bring mine home each time we had a kid.

For 2 years he focused on defense, upperclassmen and half court offensive execution. Then we wanted more 3’s and up pace basketball ie NBA style.

So now he gives us more 3’s and up paced basketball and we HATE it.
We don't hate the uptempo pace with more three's, we hate the fact that we can't have uptempo and more three's AND play defense at the same time. Why can't we have both?

Sorry bub, gotta pay 19 million for that. 9 million just doesn’t cut it.

Also need to hire a defensive guru to go with the offensive guru we brought in. And maybe someone to slip him an ativan before every game. And maybe someone to handle substitutions.

But outside of that, we have most of it covered already.

Give me an example of a team that plays uptempo and I can surely point out why they may or may not succeed better than us.

As an in general blanket statement I’d start that most likely they need experience which we don’t have, and their coach switches defenses based on some sort of strategy which ours doesn’t.

I don’t have it in me to get angry over photo shoots with this program currently but surely to goodness there’s an explanation for that.

Whoever takes Cal's spot, I just hope they don't have "Drops of Jupiter" by Train on their all-time top songs list. Honestly I might look askance at that more than I would a wife beater at this point.

(I do not want to hire a wife beater, but also, f everything right now.)
IIRC it was actually “Hey Soul Sister(a???)”. So he doesn’t even like a terrible band at their peak. He likes them when they’ve gotten even more bland and sappy and awful at the tail end of the career, flailing for relevancy.

It makes a lot more sense now that I think about it

-Man, wake up to Toby Keith dead and a new season of Curb(no one in here brought up Curb yet?).

Never was a HUGE but definitely liked him, Keith fan but I always got a laugh because his songs pissed off the people I consider purposely annoying and repugnant to traditional America. 😃

-There may be almost zero that is as enjoyable as a coffee EARLY in the morning, in the quiet stillness. It’s like even my dog knows to be quiet, pee and come back in to go back to sleep.

-As far as I’m concerned, UConn is the only team I trust right now in the tourney. I like UNC but don’t trust them, Purdue always chokes as could anyone else in the Top 25.

This mfer is WIDE open. We could easily make a FF run, we could lose first weekend, that goes for about 75% of teams in the field this year.

Kansas looked awful for the most part. Long scoring droughts, didn’t hit a shot outside 12ft, bad turnovers. I think they are a fraud, especially away from the Phog.

Never really cared much for Toby Keith until he went on stage with Merle Haggard during one of his final shows and sang the last dozen songs because the Hag was struggling. RIP

There may not be another musician who was more “right place, right time” than Toby Keith. He was a man’s man who was the perfect artist to fill the role of macho pro American, terrorist hating, football playing, beer guzzling, USA chanting, unapologetically pro military loudmouth. I didn’t even realize he was sick. What a dude.
