Have a friend and bless her heart, she and her husband who I grew up with both, are VERY Christian and we were talking this morning and she says, “Gambling was the worst thing to happen to Kentucky basketball.”

How so?

“Well it’s obvious Cal threw that game last night and he was either betting on it or was paid off by people that were. It was so obvious my husband and his friend turned it off”

I said oh honey, you think the people that do those sorts of things are betting through Draft Kings or Fan Duel?

“Well this stuff never happened before.”

🤦‍♂️ yup we’ve definitely never broken the rules before gambling started and all these players and coaches throwing games are betting through a phone app.

I’m pretty sure they want a reason to have lost the game and also to be able to condemn gambling and say I told you so.

But wow what a world to live in.

The best info I heard about Adou was Jack Pilgrim saying he had a back issue before the Louisville game then tweaked it/hurt it worse with a fall in that game. Jack said Cal confirmed that it was a back issue at some point too.

Well that clears it right up. Not sure why old man Adou wouldn’t just say the same thing. I’m sure there is a simple explanation but the fact that Cal can’t tell the truth, mixed with this exact same thing happening every year, and you have rumors swirling.

Cal just said they’ve been working on some zone and Adou may play Saturday if he practices the next couple of days.

Come on man, please tell me you aren’t buying that bullshit. That is nothing but filler.
I’m just saying what he said, not necessarily buying it. I’d frame it as hoping.

He also blamed the out of bounds issues on miscommunication by the players. I still think how we handle that schematically is causing the confusion. I don’t see anyone else routinely switching off the inbounder to cover the cutter and not protecting the basket but us. Maybe the resident coaches in this thread can elaborate further on that part.

Here’s the question:

“Hey Coach, tough loss but love this team and you are best coach in NATION!!! You’ve talked endlessly that this isn’t communism, and you have to earn your minutes, next man up, etc?

While I appreciate you not giving up on Justin, can you expand on what he’s done to earn his in-stone starting spot & minutes given his performance & production through 18 games, relative to others?

Have you considered letting him start the game on the bench as a pressure release? Perhaps he’d benefit from watching to start, grasping the flow, and seeing where he can make a winning impact in any given game when his number is called ”.

I’ll hang up and listen Go cats”

$100 Venmo to anyone who can at least attempt. 💯 🤝. Likely need to condense, but you get the point. Certain others would add to the fund.

The Wagner/left stuff is ridiculous, btw. Surely Welch/staff are on him about this...but it's not showing up.

Dude actually had a breakaway vs UGA, and attempted an actual layup-drill right handed crip, and it was so uncomfortable for him that he nearly broke his leg and missed it - dude simply cannot jump off his left foot. The few times he's actually taken the right side that's given to him he has to put up some awkward wrong-footed looking thing..but his mission is to get to the left side at all costs...even when the right side parts for him, as it often does.

I love the kid & He's been playing mostly really good ball overall of late, but NBA scouts can't like what they see overall, imo. He's extremely limited in what he can actually do out there if scouted properly.

This is a huge issue to me. Teams are wisely forcing him right and he missed 5 or 6 shots at the rim last night that were either bad lefty layups, was forced right once and threw up a bad shot trying to go to his left still and a couple of times he's driving left and shot it with his right hand and both of those got blocked. This is tough to fix at this point though. Maybe he should go to his pull up game more.

And he never draws fouls either. He shot no free throws in that game last night that was super physical. Only 41 fts on the season tied with Reed for 4th on the team. He should lead them in that category.

Tom did ask him tonight if there would be any potential lineup changes and he didn’t directly answer the question but mentioned Adou might be back in the rotation.

I DM’d this question to Ellen on IG and will post her response after she discusses with John.

Do you need my Venmo?

Auburn v Alabama is a masterclass in piss-poor shot selection. Pearl and Oats open up that offense but it leads to a lot of wild possessions and hero-ball. Out of control.

I’d like to see what Liam Coen could do as a head coach. So long as he brings in a solid play calling OC, of course.

I’m good with it.

Morning Rant:

That professional tennis hasn't banned the scream/grunt after every swing is absolutely embarrassing.

Just watched Sabalenka defeat Gauff and the amount of yelling is unbearable. Have played tennis for 45 years and never needed to grunt. Major distraction that needs to be stopped.
Does GYERO have any contacts at the WTA?

These professional women's tennis players are just setting unrealistic expectations for what real women's tennis looks and sounds like. I'm sure it's going to be a shock to a young man during his first mixed doubles tourney, that's for sure.

I saw that on IG about the LSU guy. People were commenting saying, “bro ain’t gambling, dude is an addict. 8700 games is basically betting on every game of every sport for a year.”

Someone else said he was up 6 figures but what’re the odds of that.

I think 19 were LSU games.
