Just incredibly difficult basketball to play. Guys dribble into the paint, full of teammates, then kick to a wing, who is covered because the driver can't shoot, and the the wing can't make an entry pass because there's 6 people in the paint.

10 million a year.

And we just played inside out basketball with two 5's. Cal is washed.

Did any of you basketball bennies notice we attacked from 6/7 minutes on with a lead instead of stalling it?

What happened?

We extended it out to our biggest lead. Attack. Play to win.

What a weird game. The first 10ish minutes were the most enjoyable basketball we've seen then a reversion to terrible spacing, decision-making, and rotations that have marred this year so far. And then Oscar decided "F*** this" and committed a reverse gangrape on a bunch of pocket-protector wearing dorks.

Of course we scored 69 points.

If, once again, our offense has to rely on Oscar to carry it, we ain’t winning shit.
Agreed but today was more like when a running back can't be stopped so you just run him until the other team changes its scheme or quits. Yale could do nothing to stop him and he needs to get back to his old form, so I'm glad we just ran the offense exclusively through him in the second half.

A few guys have been duds we thought were ready.

The only guy I think can help of those few is Fredrick. Gotta get him making shots

Whether I like or not Oats is the only option I see at this point. I do think next year is Cals last ride. Steven's tells us to get pumped and it's likely Oats.

I guess holtman could sneak a couple F4s and make it interesting but obviously not likely.

Musselman has to be Mitchs man as well I guess.

Quite a few good options. I like Oats. Love Drew, Danny Hurley, Muss and Tommy Lloyd.

Mitch and Drew are Jesus boys. I love the way he builds teams and coaches.

Cal’s washed up. I mean, it’s only December, we have good personnel and there’s always a chance he’ll discover our obvious lineup, but I’m not counting on it.

That idiot doesn’t realize “positionless” basketball means playing smaller guy in traditionally bigger positions, NOT the other way around.

Look - unlike some in here I don’t excuse shooters not hitting shots just because of their shit coach - BUT playing more shooters together lessens the burden. Keying on Fredrick wouldn’t be so easy if say Reeves and Livingston were also on the floor.

Thing is -even mentioning this shit seems redundant. Everyone who follows basketball knows all this shit now. It’s not even preaching to the choir. Like this is established science.

It’s like hearing someone saying the earth is flat. Cal’s lineups are flat-earther stuff. It’s not even controversial. It’s just wrong and stupid.

Anyway I’m getting F’d up tonight. Merry Christmas.

Some great stuff from Hoops Insight here:

Only 2 UK guards under Calipari have taken more than even 15 threes out of pick and roll in a season: Tyler Ulis went 16-33 as a sophomore, and Brandon Knight went 12-32 as a freshman. It’s not a weapon Calipari offenses tend to feature.
