I agree it’s fine to be one over the other, but as you said don’t be a Dick to the other people. I honestly love both with my whole self. Maybe I should pull a step back but part of my personal identity is UK fball and bball. Anyone that knows me knows that. I just don’t get hating on people that are pulling for the same program.

A rising tide floats all boats and whatnot.

It’s ok to be one over the other, just don’t be a bitch about it. John was an asswipe in the position he is in, to say what he did. It started this whole train a rollin.
Also... everyone should move on. Calipari was a jackass and then apologized. No need to relitigate the past. We all say something stupid on occasion.

Totally agree. But BBN won’t move on. That’s my point. It’s basketball against football when it should not be.
Fans can do this but no coach should step in and start the fire. John did. And that’s why it’s a big deal. He poured gasoline and it was unnecessary. So if Stoops loses the see John was right BS starts. Had he not said a word none of this would be rollin.

Dude I love the back and forth. No apology needed. I’m as big of prick as there is on here and give as good as I get. That was a pathetic display we all thought we were past with Stoops. We’re all in bad moods about it.

The only person who can get under my skin in GYERO is BBdK and he doesn’t post here anymore.
Ahem

First time I've watched SNL in at LEAST a decade. Chapelle killed it of course. He almost always does. When I saw Black Star was the musical guest I was prepared to be embarrassed for those two, but they brought it IMO. Made my old as dirt ass happy to see that.

Black Heaven was [laughing]

SUNDAY RANDOMS:

* "You know what? Let's eat lunch between 11am and noon for 364 days a year, but plan a lunch date 2pm every last Thursday of November!!"

But being serious, there's nothing like seeing Santa Claus waving his jolly self down NYC in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

* Mike & The Mechanics - "Silent Running" is a severely underrated song. Reminds me of a 1985 Walkman and me throwing up wiffleballs and smashing them with my taped up bat.

* Current Christmas song rankings:

1. Andy Williams - "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"

2. Darlene Love - "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)"

3. Wham! - "Last Christmas"

4. Bing Crosby - "White Christmas"

5. Paul McCartney - "Wonderful Christmas Time"

* Oreo's over Fudge Stripes in the Best Cookie to Dip in Milk by a nose. I'd be fine if you overturned that decision. You could also bring in Soft Batch cookies, too. But it's a longshot.

* Tips from 2022 Matt to 1985 Matt:

If that NES game won't load, take the cartridge out and just blow inside of it two or three times. I works, I promise.

* Even after nearly 40 years, I'm still a little salty that Jack Tripper and Janet Wood didn't end up together on Three's Company. Even as a young child you knew that was what everyone wanted.

* Do they have school fairs? I miss the growth from trying to get a mirror from a thrown dart, to getting up the courage to ask your crush to ride the Ferris wheel, to being happy that you won a ham on the Lion's Club wheel, to "I'll just drop you off and pick you up around 10? Okay?"

* Just kidding, Frank Sinatra - "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" is the GOAT song.

You don’t understand BBN
I’m pretty sure I know BBN as well as anyone hoss, no offense to you. I was born into this fire and I live it.

That being said I still think the two sides fighting over bball and fball can’t see the forest for the trees. The better one is the better for the other and why wouldn’t you love both?

Mags posted a link to a podcast with Max Duffy and Miles Butler breaking down the Vandy loss and the general state of the program. It is an hour and I only started listening to it but Duffy's initial comments struck me. Paraphrased, this is how he opened:

When you have a loss like that to a team like that, it is not a representation of talent or just a bad one-off effort. It is lots of little things that have happened over a period of 6, 12, 18, 24 months that have gone continuously wrong and the standards have slipped. It is times like this when you find out that the standards we used to have have clearly fallen away this year.

Ouch.

That seems to be correct. There seem to be a lot of guys (coaches and players) who believed their own hype and didn't do the hard work that had earned that hype.

Duffy is going to have a great career in sports media. Dude is a star.

Some alarming stuff in there. I think the coaching turnover could be the root cause in all of this. You went from having mostly KY assistants who cared deeply for the program to maybe more “talented on paper” assistants that don’t have the same threshold of standards.

Football thoughts from a non-football guy who still loves his teams:

- Have had the weekend to really stew or simmer or whatever over Saturday's debacle and these are the thoughts that keep running through my head:

* Maybe Stoops has taken us to our highest possible ceiling? God bless him. No one else could have come in here and shown us this peak, but this is it. When we peak, we are a 8-9 win team heading into a nice bowl with a chance to get to 10 wins, maybe. We are - AT BEST - 3rd in our division. That's the ceiling. That's not being a p---y a-- bit--. That's being realistic - something that I need to be more of as I head into the back side of my life on this earth.

* Lack of any real NIL initiative from the athletic department is going to further plummet us into despair.

* Whatever our identity was - a smash mouth/prostyle football team - is not sustainable for UK in this league. It's something even Saban got away from. Offense and explosive playmakers should be top priority.

* Honestly, we just need something fun in September and October. Something that will give us just a little joy until the impending dark, cold, and grey come looming into the bluegrass.

* Will Levis, bless his heart. I suppose I will always respect that he continued to play while hurt and beat up for us this season. But that guy has cost himself a ton of money and has been exposed. As soon as he was mentioned as a possible top 3 pick in the draft, he should have had a minor surgery on something and called it a season. He could have been the "mystery pick" of the draft, but now I'm afraid smart football guys have seen enough. He's going to slide like crazy.

* I don't care if these thoughts piss people off. If they do, it means they are on point.

* Going forward, it may be best to remember we are UK, not Alabama, LSU, Georgia, or even Florida during off-season media days. Shut up, know your place, put your head down, and try not to embarrass yourselves.

* Stoops isn't going anywhere. This was his season to get "fat and happy" just like our HOF basketball coach. There are no "greener pastures" for him. If he leaves, it will either be a lateral move or a preemptive "leave before they can terminate my contract" type of deal.

* I'm cool with Stoops staying here as long as possible. But I must understand that there is no "next step" to take. He has taken us as far as we can go. Maintain mediocrity and then capitalize when we have the Benny Snells, the C-Rods, the Lynn Bowdens, the Josh Allens, et al. Enjoy the ride . . . it may be a long, boring trip through Kansas and Iowa, but it is what it is.

Bullitt East with the upset. Craziest damn high school football game I’ve ever seen.

Manual has some college level players, but their coach went for 2 the last 2 scores and failed on the last one with 30 seconds left.

28-14 to start the fourth, Manual scored 28-21.

East goes down the field and misses a FG.

Manual scores, goes for 2 and gets bogus interference call then gets the 2pt conversion leaving 1:50 on the clock. 28-29

East returns the kickoff for a TD and gets the 2pt conversion to make it 7 point game with 1:30 left and Manual has no timeout. 36-29

Gets to 4th and 5 from the 45 and the QB chucks it to the end zone, East safety and top WR cuts the pass off but the ball goes thru his hands and right into Manuals top WR’s hands for a TD. Goes for 2 again and fails. 36-35

Ball game!
Couple of issues w/this recap:
Bullitt East was the higher seed and the higher ranked team - not sure why that makes it an upset.
Bullitt East player that returned the kickoff had a foot in the endzone which should have immediately killed the play....should have been Bullitt East ball at the 20 but I'm not saying that they wouldn't have won the game. That's why I think going for 2 twice made sense. Eagan is a bad ass QB.
On the 4th and 5 play for the TD you left out the fact that the QB threw a backwards pass to the LEFT FREAKING TACKLE who threw the TD pass.

It was indeed a crazy ending. Following that up by going to the UK game on Saturday absolutely sucked. Only thing that salvaged the weekend was St X and UL losing (twice).

Just want to lead with -> of all the fat ankled, winter loving, flannel sporting, throw another log on the fire(I'm sure it's actually fake gas logs), Christmas Tree up on Nov 1st, Pumpkin Spiced cocktail mixing, duck boots and Barbour jacket waxing, cold weather enthusiasts... NONE, absolutely ZERO of you P*SSY B*TCH MADE LOSERS showed up Saturday.

That should about settle your fake ass "Oh I love all Four Seasons!!" bullshit. You ****ing flabby douche bags like an excuse to stay inside and be lazy. Goddamn vampires.

WCC(Insert real last name), BBDK, SAE, Richie, Willie, RAX, 80 and on and on.

Suck my balls. 33 and rain snow mix is the best!! Move to Wisconsin, gravy slurpers.

Monday's randoms...

- Wife and I finished Breaking Bad....such a fantastic show. The Jesse character, espcially in seasons 1 & 2 had us cracking up the entire time.

- Couple big Dr. appointments this week...hoping to get some clarity on some things.

- Nothing left to be said about the football team. They choked against one of the worst teams in America. It's one thing to not take that next step against the top 5 teams but it's hard not to paint the season as a disappointment with home losses to So Carolina and Vandy.

- The louisville game now becomes a biggie. Just can't lose that one. I know we have owned them the past 4 years or so but we don't have that dominant running game anymore just to line up and destroy them.

- Went to 4-5 Champions Classic so sucks to miss this one. Glad we finally get the 7pm game so I can get to bed at a decent hour.

- Our 15 mo old has now gotten into the habit of getting up around 4:30-5:00am, including still getting up overnight. She got up so early this morning, she went down for her morning nap at 7am...she's got the whole household on edge.

- Home for Thanksgiving...definitely wasn't going to CT and turned down the invite to KY. Looking forward to 4-5 days of relaxing. Will probably have Thai food for Thanksgiving.

- Had to call out a co-worker at work last week. He scheduled a project that will be wrapping up right around Christmas. His part of the project is now and guess who's part is in 6 weeks? Mine. I used the phrase, "yea you don't care when it ends because you will be taking your vacation but you know who won't get to...our team". I'm gonna be sure to copy him on every email between the days 12/21 and 12/24. Asshole.

- NIL being unveiled today at arguably the lowest point in UK football the last 6 years. Great timing Mitch.
