UK is what you make of it, and it’s almost extreme bipolar.

I wasn’t around for the transition from Rupp to Hall, but I think we turned on Rupp in the time, Hall, Tubby and seemingly Cal.

Edit: Rupp was forced to retire so we didn’t turn on him, however this was some kind of BS rule then for UK employees and we certainly could have changed that if we wanted to keep him.

We loathed BCG almost from week 1 season 1, and Eddie was Eddie.

I guess in hindsight only Pitino did it right!

If it’s sooner than later, Scott Drew is my 1a.

But I don’t even want to think past that right now and hope to everything this lifetime contract having bastard gets to winning!

Sure, in descending order:
Florida A&M, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Bakersfield, Alabama A&M, UT-Arlington, UC-Irvine, Cal, Jackson St., Southern Miss., SDSU, Rutgers, LBSU, Texas Southern, Texas St., Wright St., San Diego, and then Kentucky.

So in short, nobody very good. Rutgers did beat Purdue, so there is that. San Diego State is a decent team.
After a quick glance at the records - midrange shots aren't good for the team. Thanks.

I’m not complaining, if Cal is anything that I expect this will not be how it ends here. He had to adjust and it isn’t going as smooth as bringing in #1 recruiting class after #1 recruiting class to fix it.

You all love TyTy, Wheeler and Mintz but they all have weaknesses. Oscar does not, so I’m more than excited to see Cal force feed him the ball all season. I don’t give a damn about the 3 ball until these guards start feeding Oscar for 25-30 touches a game.

All for it!

Cal isn't going anywhere any time soon. When he eventually does move on, UK will be just fine and have tons of quality candidates. It has been 24 hours. Stop with redassdumbassery.

How was Rails? Prolly OK.

Only a handful of NJ restaurants approach NYC levels of excellence, unfortunately.

Glad to see my low key Erik Spoelstra & Scott Drew suggestions germinating in some noggins.

Whoever our new coach is, Pat Riley better be on the search committee in finding the proper candidate. A Brad Stevens selection would melt #iubb.

Why would Riley need to be on the search committee? He doesn’t strike me as someone who really GAS about KY. Even as a former great he isn’t really associated with the program.

Spoelstra is NBA to the core....and is the best/most coveted coach in the league per the 2021 (and 2020) Annual NBA GM survey, by an overwhelming margin. He's set for life in that league. Lmao if you think he wants to come to college.

The next time a successful NBA coach leaves a good (or any?) NBA job to come to college will be the first -- suggesting that is probably the easiest way to tell someone that you are a Basketball Idiot.

Who is the best head coach in the NBA?

1. Erik Spoelstra, Miami – 55%
2. Monty Williams, Phoenix – 17%
3. Quin Snyder, Utah – 14%
4. Gregg Popovich, San Antonio – 10%
5. Mike Budenholzer, Milwaukee – 3%
> Last year: Erik Spoelstra – 46%

One of the most interesting reads each year btw: https://www.nba.com/news/2021-22-gmsurvey

Like College Football, I think the coaching industry will be interchangeable.

Not too many college gigs can offer a comparable salary, so the chances of naming an instance is tough… Musselman at Arky is about all I can kinda get to, but Kentucky is Kentucky.

be nice to set precedent in that front. Tripling a dudes salary would be a good start too.

Mussleman didn't leave an NBA Coaching position to come to Arkansas, you GD buffoon. The last time he as a Head Coach in the NBA was 2007...and he's been back in college since 2012.

Jesus Christ.
No shit.

cal has a thrombosis… who you hiring?

go.

So the last ten year's we've seen the following new hires at the top tier programs:

UNC: Hubert Davis
Duke: Jon Scheyer
Indiana: Archie Miller, Mike Woodson
UCLA: Steve Alford, Mick Cronin
Syracuse: Mike Hopkins (designated successor before leaving to coach UW)
Arizona: Sean Miller, Tommy Lloyd
UConn: Kevin Ollie, Bobby Hurley
Louisville: Chris Mack

So for anyone thinking we'll land Eric Spoelstra, Brad Stevens, or Red Auerbach once Cal finally waddles off.... 🙄

Our next coach will probably not be good, so we need to hire his sorry ass yesterday so we can fire him ASAP. Then, hire our next championship caliber coach.

Im so done with Cal, and it’s 1000% to do with his fat mouth. Even with all his mediocre bs and horrid coaching, I’d let him putz around some more if he weren’t such a jagoff. I wouldn’t watch any of our games, but that’s Ok as long as Stoops is here. Basketball starts in January now, which is sort of cool.

Eh. Pitino "resigned" as he was failing miserably both as a coach and Front Office exec in the midst of essentially being run out of town.

He didn't leave a good situation to come to college to make more money.
I was referring to when he left the Knicks* for UK, but that doesn't change your point.

*Hard to belive that was over 30 years ago.

Why would anyone mention Spoelstra in a discussion about the UK head coaching position? He has no ties to the school or state, has never coached anywhere in college, and has been with the Miami Heat organization for 25 years.
