I spent the past 2 weeks serving Jury duty. Another guy in the pool had an uncanny resemblance to Vince Tyra only to realize that it was in fact Vince Tyra.

I thought it was strange that he wouldn’t have succeeded in avoiding serving it, but now it appears he likely preferred it to slumming on Floyd St.

I know it’s cool these days to name babies with urban first name with a ‘L’ ‘ or packed with Q’s, apostrophe or referring to odd beverages…whatever.

But in practical application this weekend, I went to a bustling famous burger restaurant (White Manna) and two separate dudes come in for their pickup order mumbling their ‘unique’ first names to the host and both these poor bastards had to repeat their names at least 5x. It took lip reading, hilarious misinterpretations, and a team of restaurant people to locate their food. No doubt the original food order exchange over the phone to some Latin line cook wasn’t a Swiss watch at documenting who was on the other end in the first place.

As a matter of fact, I bet a lot of these guys with funky/cool names will use boring-ass code word (like ‘Frank’ or ‘Larry’) out of sheer hunger. Like most things in life, it’s only cool if you’re a celebrity or a highly paid athlete.

Harold Baines - .289/.356/.465 with 384 home runs and 1,628 RBI (30th all-time)

Not saying he deserves to be in, but surely there are folks in there with worse numbers.

What about Ozzie Smith? Even as a Cardinal fan I have mixed emotions about him being in Cooperstown.

Can someone explain to me Buck’s credentials for getting in the Hall other than having a great personality?

Buck is known as the greatest ambassador to the Negro Leagues, and his list of accomplishments is a mile long. He was even awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by G-Dub. He should be in as a contributor.

For years the Hall stiff armed Buck and Marvin Miller. It took a while, and unfortunately both are being recognized posthumously, but they did finally get it right.

Everybody knows Buck doesn’t deserve to be in the Hall. That’s why they gave him a special award ~15 years ago. This is stupid. “Great ambassador to the game”? Give me a f’ing break. If that’s all it takes then Dale Murphy should have been first ballot.

Yesterday my mom gave me a little button (about the size of a nickel) with Gil Hodges on it. She found it cleaning out my granny's house. Looked it up and these things were sold for a penny out of vending machines in 1956. A couple hours after I get home, Gil Hodges is elected to the HoF. Pretty crazy coincidence.

Fred mcgriff is biggest omission of the HOF and it isn’t close.

He’s getting screwed because he played in the steroids era and never used steroids. But yeah, absolutely. I would argue Barry Bonds deserves it regardless of his cheating. He was the best player I’ve ever seen by a long distance.
