Excited that with the experience in this team there won't be any of the aggravating early season growing pains. While others were pissed at the Wheeler signing and gave it a D+, I believe Wheeler taking the pressure off TyTy in the early season is the biggest win of the off-season.

Let's just try not to get boatraced by Duke (again)? I think that's a fair benchmark for Cal and is a nice little Baby Step for a program fresh off a 9-16 campaign.

* I survived the first practice as assistant basketball coach for your St. Columban Bobcats 4th Grade Girls team. We have 9 players so yours truly gets to participate in a lot of the drills.
Hopefully, it'll help jumpstart me when I probably start working out tomorrow.

* X-ray officially revealed Arthritis in both hips. It's hell getting old, boys. Heading to the Ortho tomorrow to find out more. I'm looking at a double hip replacement eventually, but hopefully that'll be a long way off.
* Had a blast giving out candy in my neighborhood. We've had a bunch of younger couples with kids move in to the hood over the past year or so. I love it.
* There are going to be some good players spending a lot of time on the pine for Coach Cal this year. That's a good problem, as long as the right people are playing.
* GYERO soup talk has inspired to me to make a pot this weekend. There is a killer creamy chicken, leek and mushroom soup that features a garam masala spice mix that I haven't made in a few years. Might make a batch of that.
Then again, I told my little one that I would make shrimp toast for her if she scored 2 goals in the end of the season soccer tournament. She got 4. I'm thinking a gumbo or étouffée would go better with shrimp toast.

My MIL had her hip replaced at 9AM and was at home at 2PM. It’s unreal the advances in orthopedic surgery in just the last 5 years. That used to be a major 2 weeks in the hospital surgery and now it’s a 2 hour outpatient procedure.
Half of federal inmates are in for drug offenses. It’s much less at the state level, where the majority of those people haven’t even been convicted.
When murderers get out because they have money but poor people who got caught with drugs are locked up, that is seriously F’d up.

I know you are an intelligent individual and aren’t just now discovering how “unfair”the legal system is, but it is absolutely true. My step-son got into some trouble, what I would describe as potentially pretty bad stuff. The right lawyer and 15 grand later he was only sentenced to 90 days (70 or so for good behavior), should have probably been closer to 3-5 years, and negotiated down from a felony to a misdemeanor.
That’s a lot of mumbo jumbo to say that it’s all bullshit. No offense to any lawyers, DA’s, CA’s, Judges etc around here.
Amazon Prime is making the Jack Carr books into a series, which is in the same theme. Those are a solid book recommendation for some lightweight beach reading, btw.
