He also has some pretty big wins here. In fact, I believe he’s won more tournament games than anyone and also more over Top 4 seeds- many in dramatic fashion.
We had a realistic chance to win the title in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2019. I mean, that doesn’t suck.
You can throw 2020 in there as well, imo.

If Cal copped to burn out, I might be able to put my torches away for a while. UK basketball ages people like the presidency. But the constant and worsening digging in on something that is clearly broken is erasing every bit of earned good will he had accumulated.

I would completely agree with this if I thought it was possible. Cal's an obviously tremendous recruiter, a great manager of personalities, and can coach the hell out of defense. An "adjusted" Cal who embraced analytics and built his team accordingly, would be the best coach in America. Full stop. But, I've seen nothing in 11 years that makes me think he's capable of that level of self-assessment and humility, especially at this point in his career. He just believes the game runs through the post. He believes that if he can get the biggest and best athletes, he can teach them what they need and they can physically dominate other teams through their defense and post offense. Turning him into Nate Oats (hell, or even Few/Wright) in one offseason is a big ask.
He’s dug into what’s worked for him in the past. He obviously needs to adjust. Hopefully, the offseason will bring some much needed perspective and self-evaluation.

@wcc31 Those are three pretty compelling points and I'd tend to agree with your reticence on all. Although UK could solve one of them pretty easily by reaching out to Tubby and getting him in the rafters. It's way past time. (Why haven't they? Any credible info?)
Last game he looked like a player that had been tossed under the bus by his coach publicly, dragged out from the road, tossed under the bus again, then backed over.
I don't care what wcc says, his handling of that kid has been malpractice, Chase could probably sue him for it. He's never publicly said so much about one player and their performance. It will cause future issues with instate and middling ranked kids that would be good fits here. If I was a rival coach I would keep every damn clip of Cal discussing Dontaie Allen.
At UK, we shouldn’t celebrate almost. That’s what makes us UK. He’s won a ton of games with much more talented players. His team now isn’t so talented, compared to his normal squads, and we see the results.
I think his fear and need to control causes him issues in tight or meaningful games. The high strung antics and being on high alert in those scenarios makes those around you anxious.

Yep. Doubt he even seriously recruits Reed Shep for this reason. If he's annoyed with BBN over Allen, this kid will be that x100, for obvious reasons - he will want NO part of that.
This is the worst season in all of our lifetimes and pretty much anyone that is alive in world lifetime. I think what he has done in the past gives him a another season to fix it but you just can discount this shit stain of a season. It is historically bad. He deserves all the heat.

Cal’s relationship with his players is as good as I’ve ever seen. Cal’s been great to our fanbase- which is chockful of spoiled idiots.

I think the message has been clearly sent that seasons like this are unacceptable. I also think Cal might have been taken aback by how quickly the fans turned on him, but I think he’s gotten the message loud and clear and is probably being defensive like most people would be. I think the need for Kentucky fans to keep piling on and now rewriting the last 10 years to make Cal look as awful as possible and to pretend that this last decade has been so disappointing is really f’in annoying, childish, and exhausting.
