Hoop Randos:
-Dakich toying w/ UofL? Says he has something coming for his show today, regarding the NCAA.
-Nice to see us finish strong last night. Of course, State seemingly missed their last 20 shots, but I liked the way we attacked late, especially PJ.
-Speaking of PJ, that guy has fun out there, which I love. Gabriel & Shai do as well, and probably not a coincidence those are the 3 guys I enjoy the most at this time. Rest of the crew just looks so uptight and borderline miserable.
-Cal addressed Vanderbilt's PT in postgame, but he needs to follow through on it. Dude's mind is racing so fast and far ahead that he can't even catch a ball or rebound without bobbling it. He's never going to get comfortable playing 3 or 4 2-minute stretches in a game. As Geese noted last night on super secret text, he must be allowed to FAIL FAST!!!
-Even more important though, imo, is getting Green back in sync...man is he mess. I honestly wouldn't be against going back to the old starting lineup for a bit, as he & Diallo simply haven't been the same since. Shai is going to be Shai whether he starts or comes off the bench.
Oh, minus Richards of course. Several games in a row now that he starts, gets 10 minutes, then doesn't start or really even play in the 2H. Enough of that, play the guys earning their minutes. Richards is going to be a good & serviceable big in time, but we have a plethora of big guys who can & should handle those minutes RIGHT NOW.
-How good is Trae Young? Dude came out last night basically to make a point that he was just gonna pass, get everyone involved...didn't even take a 3 in the first half. Still scores 26 points (on 9 shots) and racked up 9 assists. Kid is on another level.
^ Young v Sexton this weekend should be fun.
-Crean is fantastic. Lost count of how many times he called the exact play/result as the ball was being brought up the floor. These coaches-turn-announcers are always great to start off though, before eventually feeling the need to join HOT TAKE WORLD. We'll see.
-A&M goes down again. Would really be disappointing if they play their way out of the tournament, and they're getting close.
